Mooresville, N.C., September 16, 2015 – NHRA Pro Stock racer Jason Line has no desire to luxuriate in his past achievements, although that would be very easy to do heading into an event in which he was a finalist in each of the four most recent runnings. Ven Racing–European Finals, Santa Pod 4th – 6th September

European Finals, Santa Pod 4th – 6th September

After struggling with engine problems and failures this season we decided to sit the European round at Hockenheim out and concentrate on getting engines rebuilt and solving the issues we have had ahead of the euro finals. I was also waiting for a new full auto engine from DME Racing to arrive.

We both were booked in for the pre race test day, Jemma managed 2 passes in the mid 7s, the bike sounded great and the data showed it was running clean. I did 1 pass in the 7.3s and again everything seemed good but then rain stopped anymore testing. Continue reading Ven Racing–European Finals, Santa Pod 4th – 6th September

Chevy Racing–FORCE TO SAY THANK YOU TO JEFF GORDON WITH SPECIAL CHEVY CAMARO IN CHARLOTTE

FORCE TO SAY THANK YOU TO JEFF GORDON WITH SPECIAL CHEVY CAMARO IN CHARLOTTE
JForce Gordon Tribute FC_2

CHARLOTTE (September 15, 2015) —- John Force’s memories of Jeff Gordon go back to the early 1990s when the two drivers were just getting started on their impressive championship runs. As Jeff Gordon wraps up a legendary career at the end of this season Force wanted to say thank you to Gordon in a way that only the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion could with a fully flamed Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car. Force will run the Funny Car for one race, the NHRA Carolina Nationals starting on September 18th.

“I got the idea for the flames from Jeff telling me years ago he was a fan because I was always on fire. He was right, when I got started we were on fire from here to Australia. I always enjoyed seeing Jeff at races and award banquets. The guy was just so polite and professional but you knew he had the eye of the tiger too. You don’t win all those championships on your good looks. This special Funny Car is just a way for me, my family, my team, my sponsors, NHRA and the fans to say thank you for being a great champion and being such a great driver in NASCAR. I put as many flames as my designer Brandon (Baker) could fit on my hot rod in Jeff’s honor,” said Force, who will unveil the Funny Car on Friday at the NHRA Carolina Nationals.

In addition to recognizing Gordon’s racing success, Force wanted to say thank you for the many times the pair of Chevrolet drivers shared a the stage or autograph line over the years.

Force first met Gordon in the early 90s when the pair of drivers were seated next to each other at an end of season awards banquet. Gordon admitted to Force he was a little nervous about speaking to a big crowd and Force gave the young driver some humorous advice to get him through the event. Those tips worked for Gordon and he has recounted this story many times over the years to Force’s amusement.

Years later when both drivers were established champions Force and Gordon crossed paths at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana when Force made a hamburger run for a group of drivers that included Gordon and Rusty Wallace. Because of a scheduling mix-up with Force’s limo driver, John Force actually drove his limo to the race track and also to In-N-Out. In the process the limo ran out of gas and the drivers had a good hearted laugh over the whole incident as they recalled how Force insisted on driving and getting hamburgers for his NASCAR friends.

“I loved being around the NASCAR guys. Dale Earnhardt Sr. was my hero and I learned a lot from him. Getting to know Gordon over the years has been a lot of fun. We see each other at NASCAR races and I know his kids love coming to the drag races at zMax Dragway in Charlotte. He is just a great guy and I am proud to run this Chevrolet Camaro to thank him for everything he has done for motorsports,” said Force.

Force as well as the rest of the JFR team will take to the track on Friday evening at zMax Dragway for the NHRA Carolina Nationals at 4 and 6 p.m. for the first day of qualifying.

Mid-Season Report

With three quarters of the season over we are still charging forward while battling tricky race weather conditions. On our last race report we made it to the finals but fell short. With us being the smallest motor in the class we are pushing the breaking point of every component that makes this bike run. Innovation is the key to the next step. With that being said we are on the verge of converting all our bikes to running on alcohol. We have completed our first ever grudge bike which we have been out testing and have been getting amazing feedback from the new ECU and the fact that it runs on alcohol which we can apply to the Prostreet bike for the new rules this season. Brian Scott Finishes 22nd at Richmond International Raceway

In only his 14th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start, Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet team finished 22nd at Richmond International Raceway in the Federated Auto Parts 400. The Boise, Idaho native started the 400-lap affair in the 17th position and battled his way into the top 15 in the early going. After the competition caution on lap 37 and an adjustment on pit road, the Shore Lodge Chevrolet lost drive-off the corners and developed a loose-handling condition. The team reversed the changes from the first stop on the lap 99 caution. Scott battled in and around the 20th position fighting a lack of rear grip. On lap 185 Scott fell one lap down to the leader. After a long green-flag run, a debris caution was delivered on lap 209 allowing the No. 33 team to make an air pressure adjustment to help manage right-rear grip. At the lap 260 mark, Scott was once again caught by the race leader and fell a second lap down. With one additional visit to pit road with less than 25 laps remaining, the team made an air pressure adjustment to secure grip in the closing laps. The No. 33 entry fell one additional lap to the leader before the checkered flag flew bringing home a 22nd-place finish.

Start – 17 Finish – 22 Laps Led – 0 Points – N/A

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTE:
“We had to battle all night long. Thanks to everyone at RCR and ECR Engines for all of their hard work. Looking forward to being back in the Sprint Cup Series car next weekend at Chicagoland.”

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S CHEVROLET SS
WHAT DO YOU AND YOUR TEAM NEED TO DO IN THE FINAL 10 RACES?
“We’re getting stronger. We’re not where we want to be as a company, but my guys have been working their guts out trying to get our cars where they need to be; plus, we’re going to our 10 best tracks. Summer stretches have always been tough on the No. 48. I don’t know why. All the questions are being asked (like) what’s wrong, what’s up? And we get to those final 10 tracks and things turn around for us. So, I’m looking forward to some of that and making our equipment a little bit better. I think we’re playing a little bit of catch-up right now, but I think it’s a hill we can get over the top of and be there when it counts at the end of the year.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Richmond–Jimmie Johnson
