BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — July 24, 2014 — A pair of trips to Canada has been the norm for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series for each of the last seven years. Make it eight straight seasons that the best sprint car drivers in the world have made the trek north of the border, as they head to the eastern side of Canada this week, followed by a trip to the western part next month. Kraig Kinser has been there for six of the previous seven ventures to Canada and will get his passport out again this week for a trio of races in the Great White North.

Kraig Kinser Racing–Kraig Kinser Concludes West Coast Swing this Weekend

Kraig Kinser Concludes West Coast Swing this Weekend
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — April 9, 2014— Spring-type weather has finally reached most of the country and that means it’s about time for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series to begin heading back east for races in the Midwest and on the East Coast. Before they can do that though, there is one more matter of business in California, as the “Spring Break Tour” wraps up at Kings Speedway and Perris Auto Speedway this weekend. Kraig Kinser looks to finish the early season West Coast portion of the schedule with a couple of strong finishes, and will be sporting the Bad Boys Buggies colors this weekend on his car.

Kinser will open the weekend aboard the No. 11K Bad Boy Buggies/MVT/Casey’s General Stores/Maxim on Friday, April 11, at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. He’ll conclude the weekend at Perris Auto Speedway, just outside of Los Angeles on Saturday, April 12.

“We ran the Bad Boy Buggies car a few times last year and it’s great to have them on-board again this year,” said Kinser. “Obviously this is a special year for my dad and to share the Bad Boy Buggies look for a few races is pretty neat. Hopefully we’ll both be up front and in contention both nights.”

The native of Bloomington, Ind., finished fifth last season at Kings Speedway, making a late race charge, after starting 12th. Kinser timed in 11th-fastest, which put him on the pole of a heat race. He ran third in that heat, just missing a spot in the dash by one position. Last year marked the first main event start for the third-generation driver at Kings Speedway. He raced at the track in 2011, but the A-Feature was rained out that night just as the cars pushed off.

“Hanford (Kings Speedway) is still a place I am learning,” he shared. “We had a great car later in the race last season and were able to pick up quite a few spots as the laps wound down. I qualified in the perfect spot last year, but wasn’t able to capitalize on that in the heat race to get into the dash. With the new format we’ve been running the last few weeks, timing in the right spot can really affect the rest of your night. You have to race hard every lap in the heat race and try to win it.”

Kinser has made three A-Feature starts at Perris Auto Speedway with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, finishing a career-best fourth in 2012. He finished 16th last year on a track that was challenging to pass on. He opened the night 18th in time trials and finished fifth in his heat race to earn a spot in the main event, where he lined up 18th. Kinser made his debut at Perris in 2004, finishing eighth in the main event that night.

“Perris is a fast place,” said Kinser. “We haven’t had the best of West Coast trips, so we want to try and end on a strong note. That’s a place I’ve done well at in the past and last year we were pretty good on the higher banked tracks. They are also running the (410) non-wing cars with us on Saturday night and for the fans it will be the best of both worlds and should be a great night of racing.”

Last weekend, Kinser finished 11th in the opener of the two-night event at Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway and was 16th in the finale. He was fifth-fastest in time trials on the first night, which marked his sixth top-10 qualifying effort this season.

Kraig Kinser–Kraig Kinser Wins Twice During Trip to Australia

Kraig Kinser Wins Twice During Trip to Australia
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Jan. 20, 2014— Kraig Kinser hadn’t been to Australia in a number of years, but that didn’t slow him down over the last few weeks, as he picked up two wins, while earning top-10 finishes in all eight of his starts “Down Under.” The pair of wins at Sydney Speedway marked the first two for the third-generation driver on Australian soil.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, Kinser was victorious over his father, Steve, the 20-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion, and multi-time UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Dale Blaney. The younger Kinser lined up seventh and charged to the front of the field, where he battled his dad for the win in the 35-lapper. Kinser opened the night by setting fast time of the 31 entries. He then worked his way the sixth starting spot to finish third in the first heat race.

Kinser was also victorious on Jan. 4 at Sydney Speedway with Blaney second and Steve Kinser third. The younger Kinser started fifth in that 35-lap event, dubbed the “World Derby.” Earlier in the night, the native of Bloomington, Ind., finished fourth in the fourth heat race.

In the opener of that two-night event, Kinser was fastest in time trials of the 40 entries and finished fourth in the preliminary feature. The 2005 winner of the Knoxville Nationals turned a lap of 12.366-seconds to earn the fast time award. He followed that up by charging from the sixth starting position in the first heat race to finish third. Kinser lined up on the outside of the front row for the main event and ran among the top-five for the duration of the 25-lapper en route to a fourth-place performance.

Kinser scored a runner-up finish on Saturday, Jan. 11 to extend his streak of top-10 finishes at Sydney Speedway. He opened the night as the third-fastest driver in time trials and worked his way from sixth to fourth in the third heat race to lock himself into the main event. Kinser would take the green flag on the inside of the third row for the A-Feature. He quickly moved forward and inherited the lead from his father, Steve, when the elder Kinser suffered a broken header on his machine. Late in the race, Kinser had a tire problem, which allowed eventual winner Trevor Green to get by him for the top spot.

Kinser opened 2014 by competing in an event on New Year’s, Jan. 1, at Sydney Speedway, finishing sixth. He was third-fastest in time trials, behind fellow American Justin Henderson and Steve Kinser, who was second quick. Heat race action saw Kinser come home fifth, which put him on the inside of the third row for the A-Feature.

After being rained out on Dec. 26, Kinser made his first start of his Australian trip on Dec. 28 in the Coca-Cola Sprintcar Classic International Show. He would come home seventh in the main event, which was won by his father, Steve. A total of 37 cars hit the track for time trials, with Kinser stopping the clocks eighth-fastest. He worked his way from fifth to third in the first heat race.

Kinser wrapped up his tour Down Under with the two-night Scott Darley Memorial at Sydney Speedway last weekend. He came home third in the A-Feature on Saturday, Jan. 18, and was 10th in the preliminary feature on Friday, Jan. 17. Kinser powered his way from the 10th starting spot on the final night to finish on the podium and wrap up his stint at Sydney Speedway with top-10 finishes in each and every feature event he competed in.

Kinser is now preparing for the season-opening DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida next month, which open the 2014 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series campaign.

Kraig Kinser: 2013 Season in Review

Kraig Kinser: 2013 Season in Review
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Nov. 18, 2013— Each race may be a sprint, but the season is definitely a marathon when competing with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. The 70-plus race campaign begins in the middle of February and stretches to early November. In between, there are usually peaks and valleys and nearly everything else imaginable with the numbers of races and vast amount of travel that is part of the equation. Kraig Kinser experienced just about all of this in 2013, as he completed another season on the road.

Kinser opened the year at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida for the running of the DIRTcar Nationals. He came home ninth on opening night and followed that up by finishing on the podium in third on the second night. Kinser wrapped up the three-night event in the 11th spot and left the Sunshine State fourth in points in the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim.

An 11-race West Coast swing was up next, and the native of Bloomington, Ind., had an up-and-down go during that trip. He picked up four top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place showing at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif.  Kinser would head back to the Midwest 10th in the standings.

Following a fifth-place finish in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series inaugural event at El Paso Speedway Park in Texas, Kinser returned to a track he knows very well — Tri-State Speedway in his home state of Indiana. The 29-year-old powered through the field to finish eighth after starting 17th.

The first East Coast Swing of the season was next on-tap and Kinser finished a solid seventh at the famed Williams Grove Speedway with a stout field of 46 cars in attendance. The second night of that event was rained out, giving teams some extra time to make the trip to Orange County Fair Speedway in New York. Kinser made the most of this trek, as he led all 25 laps to score his first win of the season and the first of his career in the Empire State. He would wrap up the East Coast Swing with a top-10 at New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey.

Returning to Indiana for a Memorial Day event at Lawrenceburg Speedway, Kinser notched a seventh-place finish. Later that week he would finish seventh again in the series only visit of the season to the state of Michigan at I-96 Speedway. The final stop of the season for the series in Indiana was at Kokomo Speedway and Kinser crossed the line eighth in that event.

Heading to the Upper Midwest in late June, Kinser finished fifth at River Cities Speedway in North Dakota and Jackson Speedway in Minnesota in consecutive races. In the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series return to LaSalle Speedway in Illinois, Kinser finished ninth.

The series spent the night before the Fourth of July at Huset’s Speedway in South Dakota, with Kinser coming home sixth. The long trip to Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas was fruitful for the 2005 winner of the Knoxville Nationals as he recorded performance of third and seventh at the three-eighths-mile.

Kinser kicked off the Month of Money with an eighth-place showing in the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park in Ohio. He carried that momentum into the Kings Royal at the legendary Eldora Speedway, recording a sixth-place finish in that 40-lap crown jewel event. During the series first trip of the year north of the border to Canada, Kinser finished third at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec.

Following the Knoxville Nationals, Kinser ran sixth at Nodak Speedway in North Dakota. In the annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, the 2004 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner, finished 10th in the opener.

The second West Coast Race of the season saw the series compete eight times in 10 nights at six tracks in three states. Kinser finished sixth in the opener at Skagit Speedway in Washington, and was eighth on Labor Day night at Grays Harbor Raceway, also in the Evergreen State. He recorded 10th-place finishes in both of the races in Oregon, first at Willamette Speedway and then Cottage Grove Speedway. Kinser concluded the second West Coast Swing with a ninth-place performance at Antioch Speedway.

Back in the Midwest, he finished eighth at both Clay County Fair Speedway in Iowa, and Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota. Down the stretch, Kinser finished among the top-five in two of the last three races of the season. He was fifth at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in New York as part of Super DIRT Week and wrapped up the season with a fourth-place run at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, during the World Finals, flying the Bad Boys Buggies colors as a teammate to his father, Steve, the 20-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion.

Kinser wrapped up the year 11th in points with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. He was victorious once, while garnering 34 top-10 finishes, with 10 of those being top-fives. He stopped the clocks first in time trials once. Kinser picked up the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award three times in 2013. Over the course of the season, he won five heat races and raced his way into the dash on 22 different occasions.

Kinser will spend some time in the off-season racing competing in Australia as he prepares for the 2014 campaign.

Kraig Kinser Racing–Kraig Kinser Finishes Fourth in Finale of the World Finals

Kraig Kinser Finishes Fourth in Finale of the World Finals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Nov. 10, 2013— Wrapping up the season on a strong note is what every driver shoots for, as it generally helps the long months of the off-season go by a little faster. Kraig Kinser was able to turn in a very solid performance on the final night of the Seventh Annual World Finals for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 9, finishing fourth in the Bad Boys Buggies/Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store Maxim.

Kinser started eighth in the 30-lap main event in front of a sold-out crowd at Charlotte, and ran as high as third in the late going. The third-generation driver fell back a few spots to 11th in the early going, but by the eighth lap was all the way up to sixth. Just past the halfway point of the race, he battled Friday night’s winner Donny Schatz, along with Brian Brown, for several laps for the fifth spot.

Kinser would get around Brown for fifth on lap-16 and two laps later would work his way around Schatz for fourth. He found himself in third, following the final caution flag of the night for Sammy Swindell, who lost a tire while running second. Kinser ran third for the next 10 laps, before Schatz slipped by him with two circuits remaining. Crossing the line fourth, earned the 29-year-old his 10th top-five finish of the season.

“The car was great in the feature and really would go wherever I put it,” said Kinser. “We got a couple of breaks with a few of the cars in front of us having trouble and falling out, but we definitely had a fast car and it showed by the caliber of cars that we passed on our way to the front. After having not the best of nights on Friday, it was great to have a strong run and end the season on a note like that.”

Qualifying for the Saturday portion of the World Finals took place on Thursday, Nov. 9, with Kinser timing in 16th-fastest, which put him on the pole of the first heat race in the five heat race format. He would win that eight-lap contest to earn a spot in the dash. Kinser both started and finished eighth in the dash, and lined up on the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap A-Feature.

“With the number of cars that were at the World Finals, qualifying was of the utmost important,” he noted. “It showed in the first qualifying session, when we qualified back a bit and really had to fight and claw our way forward on Friday. For Saturday night, we were in the perfect spot on the pole of the heat race and were able to win that and get in the dash, which really made the rest of our night go a lot smoother.”

During Friday night’s portion of the World Finals, Kinser used a provisional to start the main event in the 26th position and wound up finishing 23rd.  He finished sixth in the first heat race, after starting eighth, coming up two spots short of transferring to the main event. Kinser finished second in the C-main to earn a spot in the B-main, where he came home 10th. In time trials that took place on Thursday, Nov. 9, and Kinser stopped the clocks 36th out of the 53 cars that took a time.

The native of Bloomington, Ind., wrapped up the 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series season with one win, with that coming at Orange County Fair Speedway in New York. He recorded 34 top-10 finishes and was 11th in the overall standings. Kinser will spend some time in Australia during the off-season competing in a number of races Down Under.

“The competition out here was as tough as ever this year,” Kinser said. “Like I’ve said a few times this year, you have to have everything fall your way on a given night to be in contention. We had our ups and downs this year and learned quite a bit that will hopefully help us down the road. It’s always tough to see the season end, especially when you are running pretty good the last part of the year. We worked hard all year and I really have to thank everyone that helps us and sticks behind us.”

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Nov. 6, 2013— It was the middle of February when Kraig Kinser pulled into the pit area at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida to open the 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series season. Now, nearly nine months later and tens of thousands of miles traveled, the third-generation driver is set to wrap up the season at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in the World Finals. Kinser will do so with the Bad Boys Buggies colors adorning his No. 11K, as a teammate to his father, Steve, the 20-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion.

“It’s great to be teamed with Bad Boy Buggies and my dad this weekend,” said the younger Kinser. “It’s hard to believe the season is just about over. We’ve had our ups and downs this year and we really want to end the year on a strong note. The World Finals have been a really good event for us the last few years, and the track really seems to suit my style and our program.”

The Seventh Annual World Finals, which along with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series features the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and Super DIRTcar Series, is set for Thursday, Nov. 7, Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9. Thursday will serve as the qualifying night, with two rounds of time trials setting heat race lineups for Friday and Saturday. Heat races, a dash and 30-lap main event will make up the racing program on Friday and Saturday. The cameras from CBS Sports Network will be rolling each night to capture all of the action to air in December.

“The World Finals have definitely grown into one of the biggest events of the year,” said the 29-year-old. “Drivers from coast-to-coast make the trip down and the caliber of cars is as strong as we see all season. It’s a good measuring stick at the end of the year to see how you stack up against guys from all over the country.”

Kinser raced at the state-of-the-art four-tenths-mile earlier this year, during Memorial Day weekend. He finished 21st, after suffering a flat tire during the main event. He was 21st-quickest in qualifying and followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the third heat to earn a spot in the 30-lap main event at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“We didn’t have the best of luck it he spring at Charlotte,” shared Kinser. “We got a little behind in time trials and with the way the World of Outlaws format is, that can really effect the rest of your night. Qualifying is going to be very, very important this week, with the numbers of cars that will be on-hand. We’ve qualified well just about every time at the World Finals, so that is certainly our first objective when we unload the car this week.”

The third-generation driver made his debut at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in the fall of 2002. Kinser has made a total of 18 starts over the years at the venue, picking up eight top-10 finishes. The native of Bloomington, Ind., finished third in the opener of the World Finals last year and followed that up with a fourth-place performance in the finale. Kinser has finished among the top-10 in seven of the 12 World Finals A-Features, dating back to the inaugural edition of the blockbuster event in 2007. Kinser has finished fourth or better in four of his last five starts at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. He finished a career-best second in the finale of the 2008 World Finals.

“It takes a good car and all the pieces being in place to run up front at Charlotte,” Kinser said. “I came close to winning in 2008 during the World Finals and it would definitely be a great way to close the year with a win. We want to put ourselves in a good spot and hopefully have the Bad Boys Buggies colors up front. It would be great if my dad and I were battling for the win each night. We’ll definitely give it all we have.”

Entering the final two point paying features of the season, Kinser is 11th in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship standings. He has one victory this season and earned 33 top-10 finishes, with nine of those being top-five showings.

Kraig Kinser Racing–Kraig Kinser Finishes Fifth at Rolling Wheels

Kraig Kinser Finishes Fifth at Rolling Wheels as Part of Super Dirt Week
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Oct. 13, 2013— The recipe for success at the sprawling five-eighths-mile Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y., requires pure speed and also some track position. Kraig Kinser was able to combine the two on Saturday, Oct. 12, as he finished fifth in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event that accompanied the Super Dirt Week XLII festivities.

For Kinser, who hails from Bloomington, Ind., the fifth-place effort was the third top-five showing of his career at Rolling Wheels, which is one of the two largest venues on the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series circuit. He has finished among the top-10 in three of the last four fall races for the series at the track.

“It was a pretty solid night for us,” said Kinser. “We timed in well, which always helps and that got us in the dash. At a place like Rolling Wheels (Raceway Park) track position is everything and we put ourselves in a good spot near the front of the field. It might have helped to have had another caution or two to bunch the field up and have a double-file restart, but it may have hurt as well, you never know. We’ll take a top-five and begin to prepare for the World Finals.”

Kinser opened the night by turning the fourth-fastest lap in time trials of the 27 entrants in the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim. He started third in the first heat race and finished in that same position to earn a spot in the dash. Kinser took the green flag for the dash in fourth and came home third, which put him on the inside of the second row for the 25-lap main event.

The first caution flag of the night flew on the initial start, as three cars had separate problems at various points of the track. On the second start, Kinser lost a spot and was running fourth when the second and final caution of the night flew on lap-5. Craig Dollansky would get around him on the seventh circuit, and Kinser would remain fifth for the duration of the 25-lap A-Feature, earning his ninth top-five finish of the season.

The event at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park was captured by the cameras from the CBS Sports Network and will air on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. Eastern.

Kinser is currently 11th in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship standings. He was victorious earlier this season at Orange County Fair Speedway in New York, and has 33 Top-10 finishes. The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series season concludes for Kinser next month with the running of the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., November 7–9.

“With a break in the schedule, you just try to stay as focused as you can,” shared Kinser. “It’s always good to have some time at the shop to regroup and get things ready, but as a driver, you definitely always want to be at the track and behind the wheel. There will be a lot of cars as always at Charlotte, so we’ll work on some of the little things to get ready and qualifying will be even more important than normal there.”

Kraig Kinser Racing–Kraig Kinser Heads to Rolling Wheels as Part of Super Dirt Week

Kraig Kinser Heads to Rolling Wheels as Part of Super Dirt Week
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Oct. 10, 2013— Only a few times each season does Kraig Kinser get to race on tracks that measure five-eighths of a mile in distance, and both venues that fit that bill are in the state of New York. He’ll have one more chance to race on one of the two largest tracks on the circuit this weekend as the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series make a visit to Rolling Wheels Raceway Park as part of NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series hit the track at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 12. A full night of racing is in-store, with a 25-lap, $10,000-to-win A-Feature capping the night. All of the action will be captured for broadcast on the CBS Sports Network on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. Eastern.

Kinser has raced once at Rolling Wheels this season in the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim, during the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series second East Coast swing of the season. He opened that event as the 18th-fastest driver in time trials. A sixth-place finish in the third heat race put him in the 25-lap main event. He lined up 18th for that contest and wound up finishing 20th, after having some trouble during the main event.

“We had pretty tough luck at Rolling Wheels in the summer, and hopefully can make up for that this weekend,” said Kinser. “I’ve had some good runs up there in the past and it’s a high horsepower place where track position is very important. As always, it starts with time trials and being in that right position and making it into the dash to be in those front few rows to start the feature.”

The third-generation driver made his debut at Rolling Wheels in a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event in 2004, coming home 10th. He has raced at the sprawling five-eighths-mile in eight different seasons in his career, including this year. Kinser finished a career-best fourth at Rolling Wheels in 2010, during the Super Dirt Week event. He has made a total of nine starts in his career at the track, recording four top-10 finishes, with two of those being top-five performances.

Rolling Wheels Raceway Park is one of two five-eighths-mile tracks on the World of Outlaws schedule this season, with Orange County Fair Speedway, also in New York, being the other. Kinser led all 25 laps of the A-Feature at Orange County in May en route to his first win of the season and the first of his career in the state of New York.

“We had everything fall into place at Orange County (Fair Speedway) and that’s what it takes out here to win,” noted the 29-year-old. “A lot of what works at Orange County, in theory, should work at Rolling Wheels. They are both definitely unique places and you carry a lot of speed around tracks that are that big.”

With just three main points paying events remaining in the 2013 schedule, Kinser is 11th in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship standings. Along with his win at Orange County the native of Bloomington, Ind., has accumulated 32 top-10 finishes, with eight of those being top-five showings.

“It’s hard to believe the season is just about over,” Kinser said. “We want to make the most of the last three races and carry some momentum into the off-season. When you finish the season on a strong note, that certainly helps you stay motivated in the shop during the cold weather. We’ll give it everything we got these last few shows and hopefully have a little luck as well.”

Kraig Kinser Racing–One More Race at a Bullring for Kraig Kinser in 2013 at Fremont Speedway

One More Race at a Bullring for Kraig Kinser in 2013 at Fremont Speedway
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

Bloomington, Ind.— Sept. 26, 2013— Kraig Kinser has had a good amount of success on small, tight bullrings this season with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. He has nine top-10 finishes on tracks that measure one-third or one-quarter of a mile in distance. He’ll have one more chance to add those to solid statistics this weekend as the series heads to Ohio for an event at Fremont Speedway, piloting the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim.

The World of Outlaws will make their sixth-ever appearance at Fremont Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 28 for the running of the Joe Stelter Memorial on Kistler Racing Products night. The night will open at the semi-banked, one-third-mile oval, located in northern Ohio, with hot laps, followed by time trials, heat races, a dash and will culminate with a 40-lap, $10,000-to-win A-Feature.

Kinser raced most recently at Fremont in 2011 with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, finishing 18th in the 40-lap main event. He began the night by turning the 18th-fastest lap in time trials of the 37 cars that were in attendance. Kinser finished sixth in the second heat race, coming up just one spot short of transferring to the main, which put him in the B-main. He raced his way into the A-Feature by finishing second in the B-main.

“Hot laps will definitely be important, since it’s been a couple of years since we’ve races at Fremont (Speedway) and obviously were on a different tire then than we are now,” said Kinser. “There will be a lot of cars there and the locals are tough, which will make time trials and qualifying in the right spot that much more important. Transferring from the heat race to the feature will be a key, as will finishing first or second to get into the dash. It’s going to be an intense night of racing for sure.”

Kinser raced for the first time at Fremont in 2001 during Ohio Sprint Speedweek with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions. He turned the 10th fastest lap in time trials that night. The native of Bloomington, Ind., returned to the track in 2003 for another race with the All Stars, recording the 11th-fastest lap in qualifying with a very strong 52-car field in attendance. Kinser has raced in five feature events in Ohio this season with the World of Outlaws, with four of those coming at the famed Eldora Speedway and the other at Limaland Motorsports Park in the Brad Doty Classic.

“Fremont is a place that I turned some laps at early in my career, but since that time, the trips there have been few and far between,” he noted. “We’ve been pretty good on the smaller tracks this year and feel like we have a solid baseline and set-up for places like Fremont. Turning consistent laps and putting yourself in a good position is what it will take to be in contention.”

Bloomington, Ind.— Sept. 18, 2013— After the frenetic pace of races the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series saw recently during the West Coast Swing, just eight races left in the 2013 campaign. Kraig Kinser looks to finish the season on a strong note and is seeking to break into the top-10 in the series standings. He’ll have two chances this weekend to gain points as he visits two of the most historic tracks on the circuit — Eldora Speedway and Lernerville Speedway.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series portion of the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio is set for Friday, Sept. 20. The series then heads to Western Pennsylvania on Saturday, Sept. 21 for the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway just outside of Pittsburgh.

Kinser has made four starts this season at Eldora Speedway in the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim. His best finish this season at the half-mile was a sixth-place effort in the Kings Royal in July. Kinser lined up 11th for that 40-lap contest and made up quite a bit of ground late in the race. He opened the event as the 11th-fastest qualifier and finished second in a heat race to lock himself into the fabled event.

The native of Bloomington, Ind., has made a total of 42 main event starts with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at the half-mile in his career, including in preliminary features. He has recorded 13 top-10 finishes at Eldora, with four of those being top-five performances. He finished a career-best third in the spring of 2005 at the half-mile.

“We had a good run in the Kings Royal for the second straight year,” said Kinser. “Obviously, the track is a little different when we come back now in the fall versus in the heat of the summer. There are probably going to be quite a few cars at Eldora this week, so qualifying is going to be just as important as ever, as is getting in the dash.”

Kinser visited Lernerville Speedway earlier this season for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s. He lost a right rear tire while running second in B-main and thus did not qualify for the main event. Last fall, the third-generation driver, finished ninth in the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville. Kinser came home a career-best fifth at the high-banked, four-tenths-mile in the 2011 Commonwealth Clash. He has made a total of 17 main event starts in his career at Lernerville.

“It was definitely tough sledding at Lernerville in the summer,” he shared. “We had a pretty fast car and just had no luck on our side and got caught up in a couple of tough situations and unfortunately didn’t have a chance to make the feature. The folks at Lernerville always do a great job preparing the surface, so we know we’ll have plenty of racing room.”

Kinser, the 2005 winner of the Knoxville Nationals, is 11th in points with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series entering this weekend, just 13 markers out of the 10th spot. He has one victory this far in 2013 to go along with 32 top-10 finishes, of which eight are top-five performances.

Kraig Kinser Racing–Kraig Kinser Finishes Eighth at Both Clay County Fair Speedway & Deer Creek Speedway

Kraig Kinser Finishes Eighth at Both Clay County Fair Speedway & Deer Creek Speedway

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Sept. 15, 2013— The pace of the racing programs this past weekend for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series were complete opposites. On Saturday, Sept. 14 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., the event was run in hurry-up mode with rain surrounding the area, with the checkered flag ultimately flying at 8:38 p.m. Central. On Friday, Sept. 13 at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, a couple hours delay early in the night to get the track service in racing shape, paired with a number of cautions in the main event, along with a fuel stop, pushed the completion of the program to well past midnight. The results were the same each night for Kraig Kinser though, as he crossed the line eighth aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim.

Kinser took the green flag for the 35-lap main event that capped the Asgrow/DeKalb Clash at the Creek at Deer Creek Speedway from the 14th spot. He lost a position on the opening lap and was running 15th when the first caution flag of the night flew on the third circuit. On the ensuing double file restart, he was able to gain a couple of spots and had worked his way up to the eighth spot by just the sixth lap.

The race was slowed twice more for caution flag periods, with single file restarts being used from this point on due to track conditions. Kinser fell back to ninth on the 10th go-around, but would gain the eighth spot back on lap-14 and would remain there for the duration of the 35-lapper, which was run with light rain falling the entire time, to earn his 32nd top-10 finish of the season.

“We were definitely glad to get the race in,” said Kinser. “It’s always tough when you know rain is coming and when it starts falling a bit that makes it even tougher. Everyone did a great job to speed the program through and get all 35 laps in for the fans, which is the main thing. We were able to move forward in the feature on a very tricky surface, so all in all, it was a decent night for us.”

The native of Bloomington, Ind., was 14th-quickest in qualifying at Deer Creek Speedway. He lined up fifth in the second heat race and wound up sixth to earn a spot in the main event. When the field assembled for the 35-lap A-Feature, the third-generation driver found himself on the outside of the seventh row in the 14th starting spot.

The 30-lap Arnold Motor Supply Shootout at Clay County Speedway on Friday night began with a yellow flag on the initial start for an accident, with a complete restart in order. On the second start, the caution came back out and led to a third start. On the third start, Kinser started to work his way forward and was up to eighth by the third lap. He found himself sixth just before the halfway point of the 30-lap contest. Kinser then was engaged in a spirited battled with Kerry Madsen for the fifth position, taking that spot for a few laps. Late in the going, Kinser raced Cody Darrah for seventh, and wound up finishing eighth to earn his 31st top-10 finish of the season.

The 2005 winner of the Knoxville Nationals opened the night at Clay County by timing in 13th-fastest, missing the heat race inversion by just one spot, which equated to two-thousandths-of-a-second. He charged from the fifth starting spot in the first heat race to finish second, which put him in the dash. The dash saw Kinser line up 10th and he was able to gain one position in that six-lap contest, and earn a starting spot the inside of the fifth row for the 30-lap Arnold Motor Supply Shootout.

“I’ve always run well at Spencer (Clay County Fair Speedway),” he noted. “We had a good heat race and were able to get in the dash and that’s always important. We just missed the heat race inversion in time trials by a hair, so to be able to come from fifth to second in the heat was great. The track was challenging in the feature, but we were able to maintain and come away with a solid finish.”

Kinser will return to the track next weekend at the famed Eldora Speedway for the running of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series portion of the 4-Crown Nationals, followed by a trip to Lernerville (Pa.) Speedway for the Commonwealth Clash. The third-generation driver is currently 11th in the series standings. He has one win this season, along with 32 top-10 finishes.

“We are excited to get back to the shop and spend the week catching up on things and working on some things,” said Kinser. “It’s always nice to sleep in your own bed as well and for all the crews, this week will provide a well-deserved break, after all the long hours they have put in the last few weeks and all of the miles driven as well.”

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Sept. 12, 2013— After a stretch of eight races in ten nights, what do Kraig Kinser and the rest of his fellow World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series competitors do for an encore? Travel over 1,800 miles from California to Iowa and get right back to racing just a few days later.

First up for Kinser in his Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim will be a visit to Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, on Friday, Sept. 13 for the Arnold Motor Supply Shootout. The series then makes a trek north to Minnesota on Saturday, Sept. 14 for the Asgrow/DeKalb Clash at the Creek at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley.

“It’s good to be back in the Midwest,” said Kinser. “The last few weeks have been pretty busy, and while I enjoy racing every night, it’s tough on all of the crews and they are the ones that need a few days to catch their breath, especially after the long drive to Iowa this week. We are looking forward to getting back to the shop after the weekend and getting caught back up on things next week.”

Kinser has raced six times at Clay County Fair Speedway in his career. He led 26 laps in his debut at the three-eighths-mile in 2008, finishing second in that race to five-time series champion Donny Schatz. Kinser made a pair of starts at Clay County last year, coming home ninth in June and 15th in September. The 2005 winner of the Knoxville Nationals has recorded top-10 finishes four times in his career at the track.

“We’ve always run pretty well at Spencer (Clay County Fair Speedway), and came pretty close to winning in my first race there,” he shared. “There is a lot of racing room at that track and you also carry quite a bit of speed. It’s a pretty neat atmosphere out there with the fair going on at the same time, and a lot of the people there only see us race once a year.”

Kinser finished sixth at Deer Creek Speedway last season, which marked his best-career finish at the high-banked three-eighths-mile located just outside of Rochester, Minn. The third-generation driver made his debut at the track in 2009, the same year that the World of Outlaws made their first visit to the venue. Kinser has finished among the top-10 in each of his last two visits to Deer Creek. The native of Bloomington, Ind., finished fifth earlier this season in Minnesota at I-94 Speedway, which is also a three-eighths-mile.

“Deer Creek usually has a couple of grooves and is a very racy track,” Kinser said. “We’ve run pretty well there each of the last two years and it’s a track that really suits my driving style. It’s a three-eighths (mile), but it drives more like a smaller track and you carry a lot of momentum around the top by the wall when you run up there.”

Heading into the last 10 races of the season, Kinser is 12th in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship standings. He has one win this season and has recorded 30 top-10 finishes, of which eight are top-five showings.

“We’re back to racing just on the weekends now as the season wins down and we want to finish the year on a strong note,” he stated. “We’ve had some stretches this year where we have been very strong and then some where we have struggled. Our goal is to find consistency as the year winds down so that we have some momentum going into the off-season as we prepare for next year.”

Kraig Kinser Earns Five Top-10 Finishes During the Gold Rush Tour
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Sept. 9, 2013— Kraig Kinser had one major objective during the recent Gold Rush Tour for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and that was to turn in consistent runs. He was able to achieve this, recording five top-10 finishes in eight events over a 10-day span at six different tracks in three states on the West Coast aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim.

In the opener of the Monster Energy Meltdown at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., on Friday, Aug. 30, Kinser finished sixth. He ran as high as second during the 25-lap main event, which was marred by several caution flags. Kinser opened the night by recording the eighth-quickest lap in time trials, which put him on the front row of the second heat. He would finish second to earn a spot in the dash, where he also finished second. In the finale of the Monster Meltdown on Saturday, Aug. 31, Kinser finished 11th

The native of Bloomington, Ind., charged from the 19th starting spot to finish eighth at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., on Monday, Sept. 2. After finishing seventh in the second heat, Kinser came home third in the B-main to earn a spot in the 30-lap A-Feature. A total of six yellow flag and one red flag slowed the main event, providing several restart to make up positions.

In his second-ever visit to Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., on Sept. 3, the third-generation driver finished 10th. Kinser ran as high as seventh over the course of the 30-lap main event, which saw the yellow flag fly four times and the red flag displayed twice. He was fifth-fastest in qualifying to open the night.

Kinser finished 10th at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon, on Wednesday, Sept. 4. He opened the night as the fastest qualifier of the 31 entrants. He finished fifth in the first heat race to earn a spot in the dash. With an inversion of eight, Kinser lined up on the outside of the fourth row for the dash and finished ninth. In the 40-lap feature, which was plagued by three cautions and two red flag periods, Kinser ran as high as seventh before finishing 10th to earn his fourth career top-10 finish at the quarter-mile bullring.

On the opening night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., on Friday, Sept. 6, Kinser was caught up in a wreck on the opening lap of the B-main and had too much damage to restart the race. He opened the night 27th-fastest out of 53 entrants in time trials. Kinser came home sixth in the second, 10-lap heat race, with just the top-four transferring to the A-Feature.

The finale of the Gold Cup on Saturday, Sept. 7, saw Kinser turn in the ninth-fastest lap in time trials of the 52 drivers that hit the quarter-mile. He finished fourth in the fourth heat race to earn a spot in the 40-lap main event. The third-generation driver took to the grid on the outside of the ninth row and wound up finishing 17th.

Kinser wrapped up the Gold Rush Tour with a ninth-place finish at Antioch Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 8. He kicked off the night as the second-fastest qualifier of the 33 drivers that took to the one-third-mile. He finished third in the second heat race to earn a spot in the dash where he came home eighth. Starting on the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap main event, Kinser ran among the top-11 for the duration of the contest, crossing the finish line ninth to earn his 30th top-10 performance of the season.

The event at Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, Ore., scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, fell to rain and was not rescheduled.

Kinser will be back in action this weekend at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, and Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota. He is currently 12th in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship standings and had accumulated 30 top-10 finishes. Kinser has one victory on the year, with that coming at Orange County Fair Speedway in New York in the spring.

Back in the Saddle: Kraig Kinser Heads to Nebraska & North Dakota

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Aug. 12, 2013— With the biggest week of the year in sprint car racing — the FVP Knoxville Nationals — now in the books, it’s often said that the season begins to slow down. That’s not the case for Kraig Kinser and his fellow World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series competitors as they’ll return to the track this week for three races in a six-day stretch, beginning in Nebraska and concluding with a pair of races in North Dakota.

The trio of races for Kinser this week starts on Tuesday, Aug. 13, with the running of the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Shootout at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb. The native of Bloomington, Ind., will then head north for the final two legs of the Gerdau Ameristeel Northern Tour. Kinser will hit the track at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., on Friday, Aug. 16, and wraps up the weekend in the Magic City Showdown at Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D., on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Kinser, who pilots the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim, has made two starts in his career at Junction Motor Speedway, including last season when he finished 14th. Kinser made his debut at the semi-banked, three-eighths-mile in 2010, which was also was the World of Outlaws first-ever stop at the venue in southeastern Nebraska. The event at Junction Motor Speedway will mark the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series only race of the season in Nebraska, after a rainout at I-80 Speedway in June.

“Junction (Motor Speedway) is one of those places that everyone is still kind of learning,” said Kinser. “With the new tires this year, the set-up will obviously be a little different than last year and that should equalize the playing field a bit. That’s a great facility and we don’t race out that way very much anymore, so I imagine they’ll have a very good crowd and hopefully we put on a good show for them.”

Earlier this season at River Cities Speedway, Kinser finished fifth to earn his second top-five finish in his last three starts at the track. He was the third-fastest driver in time trials of the 36 entrants and came home third in the third 10-lap heat race to earn a spot in the dash where he finished fifth. Kinser lined up on the inside of the third row for the 40-lap main event at the always racy bullring.

“We had a pretty good car earlier in the year at Grand Forks (River Cities Speedway),” he noted. “That’s a track that I always feel comfortable at and it reminds me so much of the tracks I grew up on back home. Don Mack and everyone does such a great job up there and always provide us with a super racy surface with multiple grooves. In the driver’s seat it’s an ‘elbows up’ type of place to race and I know for the fans it’s an exciting track to watch at.”

Kinser made his debut at River Cities Speedway in 2000, with the former Gumout Series finishing fourth and fifth in two starts. In four Gumout Series starts at the track, Kinser finished in the top-five each and every time. With the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, the third-generation driver has made 11 starts, recording six top-10 finishes in the process.

The third-generation driver raced for the first time at the three-eighths-mile Nodak Speedway in 2008 and finished a career-best third in that event. He has made a total of five starts at the oval, which is located on the grounds of the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, recording top-10 finishes in four of those races. Last season, Kinser finished ninth at Nodak Speedway, in the series return to the oval, after the 2011 event was forced to be cancelled due to flooding.

“Minot (Nodak Speedway) has a lot of racing room,” said Kinser. “It’s a smaller track that races like a much bigger one. We’ve been pretty consistent over the years there and just need to gain a little bit to be battling up front. That’s a place where you can make up some ground if you start further back, but the goal is to always start as far forward as possible and begins in qualifying.”

Last week at the 53rd Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, Kinser battled more than his fair share of bad luck. After losing an engine in time trials on Wednesday, Aug. 7, during the first preliminary night, he used a second-place finish in the fifth heat race to earn a spot in the preliminary feature. He was running among the top-five in the late going of that 25-lap contest when he lost another engine and finished 22nd. On Friday, Aug. 9, he was battling for a spot in the 25-lap feature when he had steering problems during the first B-main, which forced him to the work area. He was able to return and charge back through the field to finish seventh, missing a transfer spot by four positions. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Kinser finished fifth in the C-main, coming up just one spot shy of moving to the B-main.

Kinser begins this week 13th in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series standings. He has one victory this season to go along with 23 top-10 finishes and eight top-five showings.

Kraig Kinser Takes on Attica & I-96 Following Seventh-Place Run at Lawrenceburg By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

Kraig Kinser Takes on Attica & I-96 Following Seventh-Place Run at Lawrenceburg
By Kraig Kinser Racing PR

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—May 30, 2013— Versatility on a wide range of tracks is a skill that Kraig Kinser has acquired over the years competing with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. One night he may be racing on a tight, high-banked, bullring and the next night on a sprawling and wide-open big track. That will be the case this weekend as the series makes its annual appearances at Attica Raceway Park in Ohio and I-96 Speedway in Michigan.

Kinser heads first to Attica Raceway Park for the Kistler Engines Classic on Friday, May 31, piloting the Casey’s General Store/Mesilla Valley Transportation Maxim. The series then travel northwest for their only race of the year in Michigan, as they invade I-96 Speedway on Saturday, June 1 for the NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan. This season the event will be contested on the half-mile version of the track located in Lake Odessa, Mich., versus the inner three-eighths-mile that was used last season.

Kinser last competed at Attica Raceway Park in 2011, as last season’s event fell to rain and was not rescheduled. The third-generation driver has made four starts in his career with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at Attica Raceway Park. He finished a career-best ninth at the third-mile in 2009. Kinser has raced at the Ohio oval in four different seasons in his World of Outlaws career.

“There always is a lot of good cars at Attica, so you really have to be on your game there,” said Kinser. “We only race there once a year so that makes hot laps even more important to make sure you are dialed in for those two laps in time trials. It’s usually pretty racy at Attica and things happen in a hurry, especially in the feature. We haven’t done as well on the smaller tracks this year as we were hoping, but we have some good notes for Attica and a solid baseline to start from and have been gaining consistency the last few weeks.”

Kinser finished 10th at I-96 Speedway last season on the inner three-eighths-mile that was utilized. It marked his fourth career top-10 finish at the track, with the three previous coming on the half-mile configuration, which will be the track the series races on this year. Kinser made his first start at I-96 in 2004 and finished fourth the following season. He scored a podium finish at the track in 2009

“I’ve always enjoyed racing on the half-mile at I-96 (Speedway) and am glad we are back on the big track this year,” he noted. “It was different last year racing on the smaller track and kind of challenging as well. I-96 is a good place to really let a sprint car stretch its legs and the fans really seem to enjoy seeing the pure speed of the cars there.”

Kinser finished seventh on Memorial Day at Lawrenceburg Speedway in his home state of Indiana. He started the night as the fourth-fastest qualifier of the 37 entrants. He finished fourth in the fourth 10-lap heat race to earn a spot in the 35-lap main event. Kinser started 11th in the A-Feature and after falling back a few spots at the stark methodically worked his way forward.

He broke into the top-10 on a lap-14 restart and was running sixth when the final caution flag of the night flew with six laps remaining. Prior to heading to Lawrenceburg, the native of Bloomington, Ind., competed in the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, finishing 21st.

“The car really came on late in the race at Lawrenceburg and we were able to make up quite a bit of ground and had a solid finish,” Kinser stated. “We just missed getting in the dash and it is tough starting in the middle of the field with these guys. The competition is so tough and when you get to the top-10 or so cars everyone is so fast. We’ve been working hard in the shop this week and hopefully we can continue to build some momentum.”

With a total of 27 races in the books thus far in 2013 for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, Kinser is 11th in points, on the strength of one win and 12 top-10 finishes, with four of those being top-five showings.
