Tech 9–Tour Britannia Wins!

Tech 9 Success – A Hat-Trick of Tour Britannia wins !

Tech 9 secure a hat-trick of Tour Britannia victories with a victory in the closest fought competition for ten years.
After two and a half days of intense competition across Cheshire and North Wales – 3 race events, 14 special stages and over 400 road miles were endured.
In conclusion, a winning margin of just 13 seconds separated Phil Hindley and Andy Bull from experienced rally experts Steve Perez and Paul Spooner.

A testament to the crew at Tech 9, and the fastidious attention to detail in the preparation of the immaculate 1979 911 SCR 3.0 Porsche 911 has ensured that the car remains unbeaten with 3 Tour Britannia wins, and 2 Mini Britannia event wins without a single mechanical fault encountered, and a 100% finishing record on every stage entered. This amazing feat amplifies the company motto of ‘Engineering Excellence’

Congratulations also extend to fellow Tech 9 competitor Stephen Radcliffe and Chris King, having secured a fantastic third overall in the Tech 9 supplied 911 SC

Tech 9– Mini Britannia 2013 – Tech 9 claim fourth consecutive victory

Mini Britannia 2013 – Tech 9 claim fourth consecutive victory

The Tech 9 crew have just returned from another successful raid on the Tour Britannia rally tour event Mini Britannia 2013. Tech 9 MD Phil Hindley driving the distinctive grey 911SCR with expert navigation by Andy Bull have proven a formidable pairing once again for the fourth time in a row, securing overall victory.
Based for the first time in Central London, the competitors arrived for scrutineering and signing on at the very impressive Battersea Power station, on the banks of the River Thames.

The competitors then travelled on to four different venues across Southern England, starting at the famous Brooklands circuit at Weybridge in Surrey, then onto the World famous Top Gear test track at Dunsfold Airport where our ‘stars in reasonably expensive priced cars’ commenced battle. A trip to Farnborough airport saw a very fast and technical set of special stages that was probably the days toughest challenge and finally over to Jody Sheckters beautiful Laverstoke Park in Hampshire where the ‘Carfest South’ special stages were tackled to close the competition aspect of the event.
The return trip was highlighted with a drive through Windsor Great Park, a photo opportunity for the winners with Windsor Castle setting the backdrop, then the drive back into London’s Chelsea Harbour for the awards presentation.

Taking fastest stage times on all stages bar the final stage, overall victory was secured by a margin of 52 seconds, over the second placed crew of Scott and Wood in their mighty Chevrolet Camaro
It’s a testament to the engineers at Tech 9 that build and maintain the very impressive and super reliable Porsche 911 SCR offering stunning pace and reliability
Phil Hindley quotes ‘What an event, super organisation, inspired choice of venues – a cracking day of Motorsport, to drive our cars on the limit at such great venues is both an honour and provides fantastic memories. The Tour Britannia format is very special and unique, a huge thanks must be conveyed to everyone that is involved, from the organisers to the marshalls and timekeepers, and of course my engineers for the maintenance and preparation of the car’

We appeal to all of our friends and clients that own interesting and sporting historic cars to join us in the future. There are two categories to the tour events, both Competition and regularity. For any owners interested in the competition event, Tech 9 crew can assist and manage the running of the car, even the transportation – so please contact us to discuss.
The regularity category is a great way to enjoy your car in a variety of different venues with minimal risk of wear or damage to your car. A friendly atmosphere of rivalry and camaraderie is ensured where you will meet lots of like-minded owners of classic sports cars.

Another Victory for Tech 9 at Mini Britannia

Following on from the fantastic win on “Tour Britannia” in June earlier this year, the Tech9 prepared and built 911 SCR entered the single day event “Mini-Britannia” on Saturday 13th October.

The Rally Tour/Circuit event based at the home of British Motorsport-Silverstone, saw the competitors face an early start and take in historic RAC Rally stages at Stoneleigh and Packington Hall near Coventry, before heading south to the Gaydon Motor Museum.  Back to Silverstone for the race event on the International circuit, and finally tackling 4 more stage events before the event finish back at the BRDC headquarters at Silverstone circuit.

The grueling schedule was a tough test for man and machinery, but we are very proud to report that the Tech 9 Porsche piloted by Tech 9 Motorsport MD Phil Hindley, and navigator CHris Williams claimed outright victory with a margin of just over 30 seconds to their nearest rivals.

Phil said, “Wow, what an event!  We have been preparing the car over the past 18 months with lots of innovative design features and products.  Our history and experience in the preparation of competition Porsche models has proved successful, and we have the proof that we have built a fast and reliable machine that can win events and look forward to building similar machinery for our clients in the future.  I extend my thanks to the wonderful Tech 9 pit crew Simon and Pete, plus our partners and suppliers in this project, namely ARP engine hardware, Ohlin suspension, Magnecor plug leads, Fuchs alloy and official Porsche Bodyshop Road and Race Bolton plus Swissvax detailing products to name a few.  Its important for us to prove the products that we sell, we have no better advert for the quality technical and engineering skills of Tech 9 and the quality of the components and suppliers that we retail to our clients through our website proscheparts.co.uk.”

Tour Britannia Winners 2012

A fantastic victory for Tech 9 at this year’s Tour Britannia event.
Phil Hindley and co-driver Andy Bull proved a winning formula with the
beautiful and unique 1979 Porsche 911 SC-R, storming to victory in the
event held in the North of England.

As competitors on the 2012
Tour Britannia faced two long days of challenging weather conditions,
Phil Hindley and Andy Bull built a healthy margin during the special
stages and race event at Croft during day one, then maintained the
advantage that they had established on the opening day to claim overall
victory in their Porsche 911SC-R

As a showcase to the engineering
skills of the Tech 9 team, the SCR was conceived and built during the
past 12 months, and only completed on the eve of the event. Tech 9 saw
their car complete fantastic times at the UK’s most exclusive rally tour
event, featuring 20 special stage events including two races at Croft
& Cadwell Park.

With its superb Ohlins suspension, built to
FIA Appendix K. specification the incredible 911 SC-R took to the stage
in its debut outing and claimed the overall honours

With its
distinctive ‘Sport Classic Grey’ paint finish and FUCHS alloys, plus
many lightweight parts the SC-R was equally composed on a rally stage or
the circuit

A comprehensive build with attention to detail enjoys a final rally specification weight of less than 1000KG.
