Tech 9–Glorious Goodwood – 73rd Members Meeting 22nd March 2015

Glorious Goodwood – 73rd Members Meeting 22nd March 2015

For those that are lucky enough to have experienced the sound of a flat-six Porsche 911 being raced full-bore on open mega-phone exhausts, it’s a sound that you will never forget. In current times with noise restrictions hampering circuits, it’s a very rare opportunity, but last weekend that dream became reality………….. and the fans and spectators loved it !

Competing for the John Aldington Trophy – in honour of AFN, the original importers of the Porsche marque into the UK. A grid of identical 2.0 911’s (pre ’67) was planned. The sight of twenty plus classic Porsche 911 2.0 models erupting into battle had the crowds on their feet

Tech 9 MD Phil Hindley was in the thick of the action, having qualified an impressive P3 overall in only the second competitive outing for the 2.0 Porsche 911. An eventful 13 lap race saw a mighty battle for the podium places, and a fine P3 finish for Phil. The Tech 9 prepared 1965 Porsche 911 2.0 ran faultlessly all weekend, a testament to the exacting preparation standards set by the Tech 9 crew.

Phil Quotes ‘to be part of one of the Goodwood race events was both an honour and a privilege. I have been attending the events for many years, and have always had the desire to be the ‘right’ side of the barriers. The meeting lived up to my expectations and more, the fast, open flowing circuit commands respect and attention, and battling wheel to wheel with other 911’s was a memory to savour. Lord March commented during the prize giving about how he enjoyed the sight of the 911’s racing on the limit, plenty of sideways action !, and we hope it lays the foundation for future opportunities to be involved in Goodwood events. The banks and grandstands were packed with enthusiastic fans, and I hope they enjoyed the on-track action as much as I did !’

Thanks to CHC partnership, Lord March for the invite and to the spectators and fans that made the event truly memorable
