NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS
BAYTOWN, Texas (April 13, 2019) — On a Saturday threatened with bad weather, John Force and Brittany Force became the first professional father-daughter No. 1 qualifiers in NHRA history. Robert Hight and the AAA Texas team fought their way into the 16-car field as the No. 5 qualifer and rookie Austin Prock and the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist team found their stride to qualify No. 6.

At the facility where John Force secured his 100th win and Brittany Force had her first victory after a jarring accident, the pair have secured their first double-up No. 1 qualifiers. Continue reading BRITTANY AND JOHN FORCE MAKE HISTORY SATURDAY AT NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS

ROBERT HIGHT LOOKING TO EXTEND POINTS LEAD WITH AAA TEXAS AT NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS

ROBERT HIGHT LOOKING TO EXTEND POINTS LEAD WITH AAA TEXAS AT
NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS
BAYTOWN, Texas (April 10, 2019) — NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series points leader Robert Hight and the AAA Texas team are heading to the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals with momentum on their side and a history of doing well at Houston Raceway Park.

To say Hight, who finished second in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series points in 2018, started his 2019 campaign off on the right foot would be an understatement. Three-consecutive No. 1 qualifiers capped off by two victories at the Winternationals and 50th anniversary Gatornationals have the two-time world champion sitting comfortably in the points lead, even after Hight and his Chevy Camaro, tuned by Jimmy Prock and Chris Cunningham, took a rare misstep, qualifying No. 9 and making a first-round exit at the most recent event in Las Vegas.

“We’re getting back to more normal conditions because in Vegas they have the elevation which makes it more challenging,” explained Hight. “We’re getting back to the way we were in Gainesville and I feel that we’re going to be strong. I’m really glad that after a weekend in Vegas, where we didn’t have a good showing, we don’t have to have a weekend off and can go right into Houston and redeem ourselves.”

Hight has two wins at the SpringNationals, his first was the first Funny Car victory of his career and most recent was in 2014. While it’s been four years since Hight has seen the winner’s circle in Houston, the AAA Texas team has been knocking on victory’s door for the past two years. In 2017, Hight qualified fourth and defeated current reigning Funny Car champion J.R. Todd and, then teammate, Courtney Force on his way to a runner-up finish against 2016 world champion Ron Capps. Last year, Hight took the No. 1 qualifying position and rallied past Jonnie Lindberg and veteran Jack Beckman before coming up short to Todd whom he battled with until the final day of the season for the championship.

“I always look forward to going to Houston. Its where I got my first win so that place is always going to be special to me. It was the fourth race of the season and my rookie year and I got a win so I always look forward to this race,” Hight said. “I was runner-up the last two years and we always do well so I can’t wait to get to Houston especially with how my car has been this year. And It’s another Auto Club race so we have a lot of work to do for them. It’s a busy weekend for me with track walks and the Auto Club stage but it’ll be good.”

JOHN FORCE LOOKING TO CONTINUE EARLY SEASON SUCCESS WITH REDEMPTION WIN AT NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS

JOHN FORCE LOOKING TO CONTINUE EARLY SEASON SUCCESS WITH REDEMPTION WIN AT NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS
BAYTOWN, Texas (April 10, 2019) — Heading to Houston Raceway Park for the fifth event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule sixth in the points standings, it’s safe to say John Force won’t be letting last year’s result at the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals weigh too heavily on his mind.

After failing to qualify for the Houston race for the first time in his career last season, ending a category-leading streak of 221 consecutive races without a DNQ, Force, in his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil / BlueDEF Chevy Camaro SS, is now trying to win for the first time for new crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Dan Hood who, last year, tuned Courtney Force to four wins and the regular season championship as well as to the Houston track record time of 3.851-seconds.

“I love being in Texas. It’s a great race track. I didn’t do good there last year and didn’t qualify so I want to come in there with guns blazing,” said Force. “Brian Corradi and Dan Hood have given me a good race car. All I have to do is get my act together in the cockpit and we’ll be okay. I’m riding sixth in the points but I’m excited to get back and prove my stuff. It doesn’t matter how many championships you’ve got, its where you’re going to go next and it starts at Houston for me now.”

Coming out of the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals with a No. 6 qualifying position, a win in the first quad and a consistent race car, Force has put the 2018 season far behind him and is only looking forward to making more NHRA history in Texas. In addition to SpringNationals victories in 1990, 1991, 1993, 1996, 1999 and 2002, Force also won the now defunct fall race at Houston in 1999 giving him a record seven wins overall at the facility. His most recent win in 2002 was also his 100th career victory. He is chasing his 150th NHRA tour victory and is trying to extend to 32 the number of seasons in which he has won at least one NHRA national event.

“I got to get myself back on track. I wasn’t where I needed to be but I know how to get there, I’ve been there before. Las Vegas was a good weekend at Bruton Smith’s Bellagio II. We did some testing after; it went well, we’ll be ready for this weekend. I’ll see you all in Houston,” Force said.

Qualifying at the NHRA SpringNationals starts at 4:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Friday and at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday. Eliminations are scheduled to begin Sunday at 11 a.m. Catch Friday qualifying on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET. Finals will air Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. and will be live from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

LAS VEGAS (April 3, 2019) — Funny Car legend John Force and his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil team are gearing up and looking to continue their progress when they get to the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas, the first four-wide race of the 2019 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

Force is in pursuit of a historic 150th NHRA victory and it seems only one thing is standing in his way, John Force Racing President, Robert Hight. Force has made two semifinal appearances, first at the Winternationals and most recently at the 50th anniversary Gatornationals, and had a quarterfinal exit thus far in 2019. Each of his round losses have been handed to him by Hight and the Auto Club team. The solid performances have Force confident in his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Chevy Camaro SS Funny Car team as they head to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway fourth in the points standings. LAS VEGAS (April 3, 2019) — The 2017 Top Fuel World Champion Brittany Force and her Advance Auto Parts team are heading to the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals ready for their first Wally of the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season.

After starting the season with two first round exits at the Winternationals and Arizona Nationals, Force and the Advance Auto Parts team put their struggles behind them at the recent 50th anniversary Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. They put together four stellar passes over two days of qualifying including a 3.680-second pass which earned her the No. 1 qualifier and held up as the quickest of the weekend in the Top Fuel category. Force and the Advance Auto team’s efforts also earned them a spot in the history books, when she became the first woman in 40 years to snag the No. 1 qualifier position in Top Fuel at the Gatornationals. LAS VEGAS (April 3, 2019) — Robert Hight and the Auto Club of Southern California Chevy Camaro SS Funny Car team are headed to the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas ready to add another Wally to their roster.

With the points lead, two victories and three consecutive No. 1 qualifiers, Hight has had a stellar start to the 2019 Mello Yello Drag Racing season. At the most recent 50th anniversary Gatornationals, he posted the quickest time of the weekend in the Funny Car class with a 3.852 and made history as the first racer since Kenny Bernstein in 1987 to have three No. 1s in the first three races of the season. Heading to Sin City for the fourth event, Hight is eager to continue leading the power rankings and, with Jimmy Prock, Chris Cunningham and the Auto Club of Southern California team keeping his car consistent that doesn’t seem far out of reach for the two-time Funny Car world champion. ROBERT HIGHT AND BRITTANY FORCE ADD TO HISTORY BOOKS SATURDAY AT 50TH NHRA GATORNATIONALS

ROBERT HIGHT AND BRITTANY FORCE ADD TO HISTORY BOOKS SATURDAY AT 50TH NHRA GATORNATIONALS

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 16, 2019) — Both Robert Hight and Brittany Force made history Saturday night when they secured their No. 1 qualifying positions at the Amalie Motor Oil 50th NHRA Gatornationals. Hight became the first racer to collect three consecutive No. 1 qualifiers in the first three races of the season since Kenny Bernstein in 1987. Force set the Gainesville Raceway track elapsed time record and became the first woman since Shirley Muldowney, 40 years ago, to qualify No. 1 at the Gatornationals. Their teammates John Force and Austin Prock, are starting race day from the No. 4 and No. 10 positions, respectively.

Hight started the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season with the same fire he finished 2018 after falling short of a second consecutive championship in the last race day of the year. Coming into the season opening Winternationals, Hight nabbed the No. 1 qualifier and was unstoppable on race day where he collected his 46th career victory. In Phoenix it seemed he would repeat his performance with a No. 1 qualifier but finished the weekend in the semifinals.

“It goes back, for my team, to the last day of the season last year where we had the chance to win a championship. We didn’t get it done and that didn’t set well with my team over the winter. They worked really hard in getting this thing prepared and figuring out what our weaknesses were. So far, we’ve been quick everywhere we’ve been. At testing, in Pomona and Phoenix, and now at Gainesville. It’s pretty impressive but it’s not by a lot though.”

After a two-week break, too long according to the two-time champion, nothing has changed. Hight and his Auto Club of Southern California Chevy Camaro SS Funny Car team are continuing to dominate. They kept it consistent and came into the day in the No. 1 spot. Hight and team had an impressive 3.899-second pass at 330.88 mph enough for the third spot, putting him behind team owner John Force in the third session.

With their final run of qualifying, anyone who knew Jimmy Prock and Chris Cunningham could predict they’d be running for the No. 1 spot and they did not disappoint. It was 3.868-second pass that landed them at the top of the class once again and in a match-up with Terry Haddock to begin race day.

“It’s pretty impressive but we aren’t up there by a lot though. Tim Wilkerson was close but I think the first two races I had a little bit on the field and they’re starting to catch up to us so that’s what happens when you start running really well. You make the others press hard,” said Hight. “The trick is for us not to let up and keep pressing hard ourselves, and try to stay on top but qualifying’s over and we got a race to win. It’s a big race, the 50th anniversary Gatornationals. That would be one cool trophy that we’d want to put on our mantel.”

Brittany Force and her Advance Auto Parts team seem as if they have overcome the learning curve that was prescribed for them at the beginning of the 2019 NHRA season. Force was faced with making more than just a change to the color of her hot rod to match with new sponsor Advance Auto Parts during the off season. New crew chiefs David Grubnic and Mac Savage came on board at the opening of 2019 and were tasked with making the conversion from Alan Johnson Racing parts to John Force Racing parts.

“We all saw what Grubnic did last season and he’s incredible. I’m proud to be teamed up with him. He’s incredible to work with. I’ve never worked with a crew chief like him. He’s driven one of these things so it’s a whole different world being able to talk to a crew chief who has been behind the wheel. It makes us connect on a different level,” said Force. “Being able to talk to him is key. Again, because he’s been in one of these things, he knows what the pressure is like. He knows what it’s like when you’re up there and staring down the track. He’s been there and done it all so being able to have conversations with him and to get advice from him, I’m really lucky.”

The transition seemed rocky but there were glimpses of what could be, a 3.700-second pass at preseason testing, a 3.696 pass in qualifying at the Winternationals and a 3.768 pass in the first round of eliminations at the Arizona Nationals. Now at the third race of the 2019 campaign, Force made four consecutively improving passes that started with a 3.904-second pass and 3.800-second pass Friday, to a 3.718 run at 328.86 on Saturday afternoon and ended with a beautiful 3.680 pass at 326.32 mph as the last pair down the track on Saturday evening. With the effort, Force has claimed her first No. 1 qualifier of the season, 11th of her career and first at Gainesville Raceway.

“We’ve been struggling the last two races and the plan coming here was to start out playing it safe. Once we picked up that run and got information, we could build on that and that’s what we did. We’ve improved every single run and ran a .90, .80 and .71, and then this last run,” said Force. “I’m very proud of the entire Advance Auto Parts team and my crew chiefs David Grubnic and Mac Savage. They told me they’d give me a race car and that it was going to do that on the last run, and Grubnic pulled me aside and told me that it was going to be fast and to hold on.

“We’re sitting No. 1 and this is the best position possible. We’ve had four solid runs down the race track and learned from every single one of them so we really have the best shot out there. Again, I have to give it up to my entire team,” continued Force. “This place is a special one for me. I had my first win here back in 2016 and I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, so I love this race track and I’d love to do it again.”

Force will begin her battle for the Wally against veteran Chris Karamasines.

John Force and the PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil team put on a strong performance through the final two qualifying rounds. Force opened the day with a 3.897-second pass at 331.94 mph that put him momentarily in the No. 1 position. He entered the final session in the No. 2 position but would move down two spots to No. 4 after spinning the tires and crossing the center-line resulting in no time for the final qualifying run of the weekend.

Heading into Sunday’s race, the winningest driver in NHRA history is no stranger to the winner’s circle at Gainesville Raceway. He’s had eight victories at the historic track, the most by any driver in the nitro classes, and will be chasing his 150th Funny Car victory when he lines up tomorrow against Jim Campbell.

“We had a good weekend of qualifying. Brittany and Advance are the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel and so is Robert with Auto Club in Funny Car. The Prock kid did a good job and is No. 10 with the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist dragster. I had some pretty good runs too and am the No. 4 qualifier with PEAK. It was a weekend of qualifying we were looking for and going into tomorrow we’re looking to get some round wins,” said Force. “It’s the 50th anniversary of the Gatornationals and would be a big one for any of us. And you know, I’m chasing 150 so that would be a big one for me too.”

Austin Prock continued to make progress during the final two qualifying sessions of the Gatornationals. A solid 3.758-second run at 330.15 mph in his Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist dragster put the rookie of the year candidate in eighth heading into the fourth qualifying session, two spots up from Friday night.

The son of championship tuner Jimmy Prock, who crew chiefs Robert Hight’s Chevy, didn’t improve in the final qualifying session but stayed consistent running 3.769-seconds at 327.11 mph. With three quality passes under his belt at Gainesville Raceway, Austin is feeling confident heading into eliminations in the 10th position where he’ll line up with Clay Millican in round one.

“We had another good weekend of qualifying. In Q3 we ran another big mile per hour for this Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist dragster with that 330,” said Prock. “In the last run we slowed down a bit. It wasn’t what we were looking for but we had another good run down the race track to grab data from. We don’t have very many runs under our belt in this thing so we’re learning every time. We can go A to B and tomorrow we should be able to get some round wins.”

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 13, 2019) — Brittany Force is making her way to the 50th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals hoping to repeat history at the first east coast race of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season.

For the 2017 Top Fuel world champion, the Gatornationals isn’t just another race. In 2016 she made her way to the winner’s circle for the first time in her NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing career after beating Terry McMillen in the final. It was her eighth final round appearance, her first ever at Gainesville Raceway and capped off the weekend as John Force Racing’s first double up with teammate Robert Hight winning in Funny Car. POINTS LEADER ROBERT HIGHT READY TO CONTINUE EARLY SEASON SUCCESS AT 50TH NHRA GATORNATIONALS
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 13, 2019) — Leading the NHRA Mello Yello points standings, Robert Hight and the Auto Club of Southern California team are showing no signs of letting up as they head to the 50th anniversary of the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at historic Gainesville Raceway.

Hight opened the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season with a No. 1 qualifying position and a win at the NHRA Winternationals and continued the momentum with a No. 1 qualifier at the most recent event at the NHRA Arizona Nationals. His Sunday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park outside of Phoenix wasn’t quite as long as the 46-time winner would have hoped, he lost in the semi-finals to reigning world champion J.R. Todd, but the performance of his Chevrolet Camaro has both he and his crew excited for what’s to come.

ROOKIE AUSTIN PROCK LOOKING TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM AT 50TH NHRA GATORNATIONALS

ROOKIE AUSTIN PROCK LOOKING TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM AT
50TH NHRA GATORNATIONALS
GAINESVILLE, FLa. (March 13, 2019) — Austin Prock and the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist dragster team are going into the 50th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals eager to continue building on their progress and momentum.

With an already promising start to the season, the third-generation racer has quickly shown he’s more than comfortable in the driver’s seat of his 11,000-horsepower dragster. At the season opening Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., Prock made his debut and closed out the weekend with a second-round finish while running a career best E.T. of 3.696-seconds and speed of 334.15 mph. At the Arizona Nationals in Phoenix, Prock secured the No. 6 qualifier spot, an improvement from his No. 11 position in Pomona, and picked up another round win. Showing no signs of slowing down, Prock is more than optimistic as he heads to the first east coast race of the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season.

“We’ve had two good race weekends so far. We broke into the 60s in Pomona, qualified No. 6 in Phoenix, so I think we’re getting a good momentum. We’ve made some good passes down the race track and we’re looking to keep things going into Gainesville,” Prock said. “I have some full-time guys now, and Jon Schaffer and Ronnie Thompson have done an excellent job. My team is putting in the work and it’s showing, so I’m excited to see what this dragster can do.”

Although the young contender for Rookie of the Year has yet to make a pass in a Top Fuel dragster at historic Gainesville Raceway, he attended Frank Hawley’s drag racing school and was licensed in an Alcohol Funny Car and Nostalgia Funny Car at the facility. He is also surrounded by individuals that have had success in Gainesville. His grandfather, Tom Prock, was the Funny Car runner-up in 1975, his dad, championship tuner Jimmy Prock, was first in the Gatornationals winner’s circle in 2003 with Gary Densham and has since landed Robert Hight victories in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Austin Prock’s current crew chief, Jon Schaffer, also has a win in Gainesville with team namesake John Force in 2017. At the 50th anniversary of the famed event, Prock is hoping to add to the list of achievements.

“Gainesville Raceway has a lot of history for my family and it’s where I got my Alcohol Funny Car and Nostalgia Funny Car licenses. Getting back there with my Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist Top Fuel team is going to be exciting,” said Prock. “East coast opener, 50th anniversary, racing in front of the legends of the sport, I’m definitely excited and looking forward to getting back into the seat. The break between Phoenix and Gainesville is a long one and I’m ready to be racing again.”

Qualifying at the 50th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals will begin Friday with sessions at 2:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. and continue Saturday at 1 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to begin Sunday at 11 a.m. NHRA coverage will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) Friday at 11:30 p.m. ET, Saturday at 9 p.m. ET and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

JOHN FORCE LOOKING FOR MONUMENTAL WIN AT 50TH ANNIVERSARY NHRA GATORNATIONALS

JOHN FORCE LOOKING FOR MONUMENTAL WIN AT
50TH ANNIVERSARY NHRA GATORNATIONALS
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 13, 2019) — Sixteen-time Funny Car world champion, John Force, is headed to the premier 50th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, the first east coast race of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season, hoping to make it his most memorable Gatornationals yet. Force and his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil team will be ready to put on a show in front of the legends he’s looked up to in the sport.

The NHRA has big plans for the 50th anniversary of the Gatornationals throughout the weekend including special meet-and-greets and autograph sessions with more than 20 NHRA legends. The highlight of the weekend however will be on the much anticipated “Unfinished Business” race, when eight legends go head-to-head in competition.

The iconic event has been memorable for the winningest driver in NHRA history. Force has 63 round wins, 13 final round appearances and eight career victories at the Gatornationals with his most recent in 2017, making him the only driver in the nitro class to do so at Gainesville Raceway. He’s defeated 40 different opponents including eight series champions, one of which is teammate Robert Hight, and has held the No. 1 qualifier position seven times.

At the 2018 Gatornationals, Force blew the body off his Funny Car during Friday’s qualifying session before reaching the finish line. It would mark his third consecutive crash of the season but wouldn’t be something the veteran racer would hang his head about. As he heads into this year’s iconic 50th anniversary event, he’ll be chasing his 150th win and is hoping to pick up the victory in front of the racing legends that set the stage for the sport.

“Gainesville has been very good to me over the years. I’ve won eight races there, I’ve crashed on their premises, been on fire, been in the burn enter but the crowds, the locals and all those fans that come out of the north to come to the warm weather is just unbelievable. It’s exciting to go back again especially knowing that the legends will be there: Joe Amato, Kenny Bernstein, Don Garlits, Darrell Gwynn, Ed McCulloch, Shirley Muldowney, Don Prudhomme, and so many more. Those are my heroes,” Force said. “To be able to go back and be able to race in front of them, it’s going to be exciting and I really want to do well. I’m going after 150 in my career wins and I hope I can do it in front of those who really matter to me, the fans, the sponsors, and those legends. Can’t wait to be at International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Induction that Garlits puts on, that really starts off the weekend.”

With a semifinal finish at the season opening Winternationals in Pomona, Calif. and a second-round exit at the Arizona Nationals, both thanks to teammate Robert Hight, Force has had a solid start to the 2019 season and is looking to keep the momentum going. Under the watchful eye of crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Dan Hood, Force and his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Chevy Camaro team have made changes focused on getting the car faster down the track, something they’re looking to continue at Gainesville Raceway.

“My car is coming around, it’s fast, it’s showing the numbers. It was a good car for my daughter Courtney last year, she won four races, 11 No. 1 qualifiers. Her team really loved her but I’m finally getting to know them all and it’s going well,” Force said. “I’m really looking forward to going to the Gatornationals with PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil and rockin’ and rollin’.”
