VIRGINIA NHRA NATIONALS
DINWIDDIE, Va. (May 15, 2019) — Austin Prock and the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist Top Fuel dragster team are making their way to the Virginia NHRA Nationals, the eighth event on the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season schedule, sitting inside the top 10 of the NHRA Mello Yello points standings.

In a close side-by-side race during the first round of the recent NHRA Southern Nationals, Prock and the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist team laid down a 3.849-second pass at 321.42 mph that was only narrowly bettered by three-thousandths of a second. The strong first round effort came after Prock made a move from the 15th qualifying position to 11th during a rain hindered two days of qualifying that only allowed a single try in each lane. Although it was his fourth first-round exit, Prock has continued to boost his rookie resume. The first-year driver has three second-round finishes and a career-best elapsed time of 3.699-seconds and speed of 334.15 mph. JOHN FORCE EAGER FOR VICTORY AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

JOHN FORCE EAGER FOR VICTORY AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS
CONCORD, N.C. (April 24, 2019) — John Force and the PEAK Coolant Motor Oil BlueDef Chevy Camaro SS Funny Car team are gearing up for the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, the sixth event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Season schedule, motivated to keep up their performance.

Force and the PEAK Chevy Camaro team came out of the recent event in Houston with one thing on their mind, win 150. After a weekend of high-performance they’ve shown they’re well on their way. It was an eventful weekend for the racing veteran. The 16-time Funny Car world champion laid a series of consistent passes including his quickest of the season, 3.858-seconds, and qualified in the top spot alongside daughter Brittany Force to make history as the first parent-child duo to secure No. 1s in their respective categories. Although he fell short in the semifinals once again to Robert Hight, whom he’s ended race day against four out of the five events this season, he was able to celebrate as a team owner with both Hight and Brittany in the winner’s circle. Sitting fourth in the points standings after three semifinal appearances, two second round finishes and a No. 1 qualifier, Force is confident his team will get the historic 150th victory.

“The better the car, the more confidence I get. I’ve been struggling but I have a good team now. I think we’re getting there. Brian Corradi and Dan Hood, they’re getting us there and 150 is coming,” said Force. “It was a good weekend in Houston. Brittany and I both qualified number one so that was exciting to share with her and I want to do more of that. That’s what I really love about NHRA drag racing, being able to share something like that together.”

Force is no stranger to success at zMAX Dragway including winning the inaugural four-wide in 2010. He’s was also the No. 1 qualifier at the spring event in 2011 and won the fall race in 2016. At last year’s four-wide event, Force started race day from the No. 8 position and had a series of consistent passes that led him to a runner-up finish.

“Racing the Charlotte Four-Wide is always exciting and it’s at the Bellagio of dragstrips. I’ve said this before but Bruton Smith did a great job and it makes running there at zMAX Dragway unbelievable,” said Force. “I won the first four-wide in 2010 and last year went to the final quad, and I want to do that again but we’ll see. I want to get back in the game where I can race.”

Qualifying for the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals begins on Friday with qualifying sessions at 4:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., and Saturday at 2:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Eliminations start at 12 noon on Sunday. Check out coverage on FS1 Friday from 8 to 9 p.m. ET, Saturday from 10 to 11 p.m. ET and Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. ET.

BRITTANY FORCE LOOKING FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

BRITTANY FORCE LOOKING FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS AT
NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS
CONCORD, N.C. (April 24, 2019) — Brittany Force and the Advance Auto Parts Top Fuel dragster team are coming off a victory at Houston Raceway Park eager to keep up the momentum at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, the sixth event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Season schedule.

Since the start of the season, Force and the Advance Auto Parts team have been hard at work to find their stride as a new crew with a new car. After two first round exits at the beginning of the season, Force and the Advance team secured their first No. 1 qualifier of the season at the 50th anniversary Gatornationals and went on to qualify third and finish as runner-up at the Las Vegas Four-Wide event.

After a stellar weekend at the recent SpringNationals in Houston, the Advance Auto Parts team have found their pace. Force, the 2017 Top Fuel world champion, set both ends of the track record with a 3.661-second pass at 332.18 mph for the No. 1 qualifying position. Force and her legendary father, John Force, made history as the first parent-child duo to both be No. 1 at an NHRA national event. Brittany would go onto win the race for the second consecutive year and double-up with teammate Robert Hight.

“Coming off a Las Vegas runner-up and a Houston win, I’m eager to get to a little four-wide action in Charlotte. This Advance Auto Parts team has worked incredibly hard this season with so many challenges thrown our way and the hard work is starting to pay off,” said Force. “In Houston David Grubnic took some risks and pushed our car to steal another No. 1 qualifier putting a 3.66 on the board. That run at 332 mph gave us a confidence boost and we pulled off another incredibly quick run at 3.67, took on some heavy hitters and fought our way to the winner’s circle. Pulling off a win this soon in the season with a new team has me so pumped going into the Charlotte Four-Wide and the rest of the season.”

With history on her side as the only woman driver to have won a four-wide event in the nitro categories, Force has always performed well at the famed zMAX Dragway. In addition to her 2016 four-wide win, she qualified No. 1 at the 2018 spring event with sister Courtney Force. In the fall, she earned another No. 1 qualifying spot and raced her way to a runner-up finish.

“My new crew chiefs and my entire new crew took on the Vegas Four-Wide a few weeks back where we were runner-up, so we got in our practice there and are hoping to do the same this time but come out with a win,” said Force. “I’ve won the Charlotte Four-Wide before and it would be great to do it again with my Advance team. We’re confident and ready to get after it on race day.”

ET.

CONCORD, N.C. (April 24, 2019) — Points leader Robert Hight and the Auto Club of Southern California Chevy Camaro SS Funny Car team are headed to the second four-wide event, the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, determined to add to their early season success.

The 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season has been full of triumphs for Hight and the Auto Club team. They’ve had three back-to-back No. 1 qualifiers and three victories starting with the Winternationals and 50th anniversary Gatornationals. The team had a slight misstep beginning at the first four-wide event of the season in Las Vegas where they made an exit in the first quad and then struggled during Friday qualifying at the most recent SpringNationals in Houston. Led by the masterminds of Jimmy Prock and Chris Cunningham, the Auto Club team was able to regain their championship form Saturday during qualifying to secure the No. 5 position and took home their third Wally on Sunday in a John Force Racing double-up victory with Brittany Force.
