DALE EARNHARDT, JR., NO. 88 DIET MOUNTAIN DEW CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Kansas Speedway and discussed turning 40 years old next week, his relationship with Ned Yost, his current position in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup and many other topics. Full Transcript:

CAN YOU REFLECT A LITTLE BIT ABOUT TURNING 40? ARE YOU WHERE YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE?
“Definitely accomplished more than I thought I would when I was younger. I just wanted to make it and being the son of a guy that was so successful. The more success he had it seemed like the harder it would be for me to make it. I would just be sort of a chapter in that whole thing, but I’m real happy with what I’ve been able to accomplish and who I have been able to work with and the friends I’ve been able to make. That is probably the best thing is the relationships that you create. Being a part of this sport there are so many great people in it, no matter what department you talk about. It’s just fun getting to know all those people that helped get this thing going and move it from race to race. The accomplishments as far as just the statistics it’s definitely exceeded my expectations. We are still winning races and running good so maybe we can get a few more wins and have some more fun before it’s over. Definitely having this birthday come up makes you reflect quite a bit back on not so much the decisions or any regrets you have, just the fun stuff you have done and is the next 40 years going to be just as good, because the first 40 were pretty great.”

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S CHEVROLET SS met with media and discussed is view of the three races in the ‘Contender’ round of the Chase, the importance of winning prior to Talladega, his expectations of the race track at Kansas, the importance of track position, and more. Full Transcript:

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHT ABOUT BEING HERE AT KANSAS AND THREE RACES IN THE ‘CONTENDER’ ROUND?
“I’m ready to get going. These three tracks should be a lot of fun. The first two, I feel that we really have a good chance. We have a good chance at all three of winning, but the first two would make the experience of the third race of the ‘Contender’ round much more enjoyable. The track has been slowly losing that newly paved kind of tough-track-to-get-ahold-of thing that goes on. Hopefully we can move the groove out. It doesn’t look like the temperatures are going to be all that hot to help encourage that. But, it’s been months since we’ve been here. In some respects, I look back on our spring race and think okay, we’ve got a good foundation to start from; but with the new rules package in play, things have just moved on down the road. So, we’re really coming back, it feels like to me, for the first time this year.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Kansas–Jimmie Johnson

Points Leader Line Charging Towards Maple Grove Raceway with History on His Side

Mooresville, N.C., October 1, 2014 – Last season, Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line came to Maple Grove Raceway with some ground to make up if he was to have a chance at the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series championship, but this season, the Mooresville, N.C.-based driver will arrive with the points lead in hand. That doesn’t take the pressure off – not even in the slightest – but history is on Line’s side as the tour slides into town for the 30th annual NHRA Nationals. FORCE IN COUNTDOWN MODE HEADING INTO READING
With only three NHRA national events left this season, John Force is focused on going rounds, winning races and, in his words, “gobbling up” as many points as he can during the Countdown. While the 16-time NHRA Mello Yello champion may compare how he’ll reach his goal for another NHRA world title to the 1980’s Pac-Man video game, it will be all business when his Castrol GTX High Mileage Mustang rolls to the starting line at Maple Grove Raceway. John Force will face some stiff competition at this weekend’s 30th annual NHRA Nationals in Reading, Pennsylvania – some of it from his own camp. Another final round for Line to protect the Pro Stock points lead

Madison, Ill., September 28, 2014 – Jason Line is doing a fine job of protecting the points lead in his chase for the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series world championship, and in his quest for the ultimate title, he powered the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro to the 73rd final round of his career and eighth of the season at Gateway Motorsports Park and the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals. Line has maintained his grip on the points lead in each of the first three races of the Countdown to the Championship and has been to two final rounds in the six-race playoffs.

On Sunday in St. Louis, Line started from the No. 3 position and began his pursuit of the title with a first-round victory over second-generation drag racer Aaron Stanfield. Inside Line Promotions – VISALIA, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2014) – Giovanni Scelzi put together a consistent weekend at Plaza Park Raceway.

Scelzi earned a pair of fifth-place results and two sixth-place finishes during the micro sprint doubleheader on Friday and Saturday.

“I’ve had a lot of top-five finishes this year, but I’m really looking for wins,” he said. “It could have went a little better, but some stupid stuff happened that got in the way.”

Scelzi and his team struggled to find forward bite in his nonwing car on both nights. He qualified fourth quickest on Friday and seventh on Saturday before advancing through his heat race each night. However, grip was lacking in the main events. Continue reading Gary Scelzi Racing–Giovanni Scelzi Earns Four Top 10s During Doubleheader at Plaza Park

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DRIVE TO END HUNGER CHEVROLET SS – RACE WINNER
DESCRIBE YOUR DAY, WHAT A GREAT PERFORMANCE
“I don’t know what happened to Kevin Harvick. It was unfortunate for him. He was the class of the field. We were tuning on it to try to keep even with him. When I saw him go out, I knew we could compete with the No.2 (Brad Keselowski) car. The No. 2 was really good on short runs, but we could run him down. Of course he made us work for it there at the end because he was so good on short runs and he got to me. I was really, really tight in traffic there at the end. I didn’t know if we were going to pull it off. I’m so, proud to have this orange Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet. This is Hunger Action month and it’s extremely important to all of us who are fighting for the older Americans going hungry every day in this country. This is a great way to take action. I don’t know what I’ve found, but I think a lot of it has to do with Alan Gustafson and all the guys on this No. 24 team. They’ve just giving me such an awesome race car team this year. I’m having so much fun.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Dover–Post Race
