Line qualified fifth with a 6.593 second, 209.88 MPH pass. He defeated Aaron Strong in Round One of eliminations, 6.634/208.26 to 6.662/207.46. Line’s day ended in Round Two against Vincent Nobile. Line left the starting line -.003 of a second too early, red-lighting and giving the win to Nobile, 6.673/208.52 to 6.670/207.85.

“We use this race as a good chance to try a couple of things that we normally wouldn’t try,” Line said. “We learned some things, some positive and some not so positive. Either way, they are data points. There is stuff you can take away from it.”

Line remains first in the points standings heading into the NHRA Countdown to the Championship.

GREG ANDERSON Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro SS
Greg Anderson qualified second with a 6.576/209.88 pass. Anderson had a perfect 0.000 second reaction time in Round One and defeated Jeg Coughlin Jr., 6.633/208.62 to 6.696/206.61. Reaction time cost Anderson in Round Two against Allen Johnson. Johnson got a .035 second jump at the starting line and never looked back, taking the win with a 6.683/207.21 to Anderson’s quicker 6.655/207.21.

“We’ve said that all year long that every race we go to we have to keep getting better or they are going to catch up to us,” Anderson said. “We have about 10 days of work ahead of us before Charlotte, and we did learn a lot of things this weekend and think we have a good direction. It’s not going to be easy, but we feel good about the playoffs.”

Anderson is second in the points standings heading into the NHRA Countdown to the Championship.

TIM WILKERSON Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car
Tim Wilkerson qualified ninth with a 3.914/323.97 pass. He smoked the tires right off the starting line in Round One of eliminations, handing the win to Robert Hight, 6.683/207.21 to 3.931/326.56. Losing traction and smoking the tires has been a problem plaguing Wilkerson.

“I really didn’t think the car would do what it did first round,” Wilkerson said. “We’re still a little disappointed on why it would have smoked the tires. We had less clutch on it, but there just wasn’t any traction in that spot we were at. We got some ideas —different tire pressure charts, places to put the car on the track, wheelie bar heights. We’re going to have to change something we’re doing.”

Wilkerson is ninth in the points standings heading into the Countdown to the Championship.
