AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 DOW CAMARO ZL1 – RACE WINNER
ON EMOTIONS:
“Right now I just want to thank the good Lord above. I did what I had to do there at the end. I hate it for the No. 10 (Aric Almirola) guys. We had a run, and I stayed in the gas. It is what it is here at Daytona. This is so awesome to take the No. 3 car back to Victory Lane 20 years ago. This one is for Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and all those Sr. fans. I love you guys. We are going to keep kicking butt the rest of the year!” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500–Austin Dillon →

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 – Involved in a multi-car accident on lap 101
ARE YOU OKAY?
“Yes, I’m alright. I had such a fast Camaro ZL1 today, and I just wanted a shot there at the end. Tough circumstances. I was just trying to feel Blaney out and see what he was going to do; how aggressive he wanted to be. I had a big push and got light at the wrong time. Didn’t make the right move.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500–Chase Elliott →

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S FOR PROS CAMARO ZL1 – Involved in a multi-car accident on lap 60
WHAT HAPPENED?
“There was some great racing throughout. But unfortunately, many thought it was the black and white checkered flag and not the green and white checkered flag. On lap 59 to be throwing blocks like that just…a lot of wrecked race cars. We will go to work and go to Atlanta next week. But it is disappointing for this Lowes team and everyone at Hendrick Motorsports for all the work they put into it. But we’ll get this Camaro ZL1 dialed in for Atlanta and take it over there.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500 Quotes →

THE DECISION BY CREW CHIEF ALAN GUSTAFSON WORK ON RACE SETUP AND NOT WORRY ABOUT THE POLE – DID THAT PAY OFF FOR YOU TONIGHT?
“Our NAPA Camaro ZL1 was really fast tonight. A big thanks to everybody at Hendrick Motorsports. The Hendrick engine shop does a great job. Brought a lot of steam tonight. I am proud of Alan and our entire group. All of our partners – Hooters, Kelly Blue Book, Mountain Dew, Sun Energy, Valvoline and of course Chevrolet, like I said. We are excited to get to Sunday. TALK ABOUT THIS BLOG EXPERIENCE.
“The first episode just came out. It’s been really cool. We started from the time I left my house. I left the fireplace going and the coffee pot going because I was so anxious to get here. I’ve been trying to capture as much raw moments of my life and as far as what I’m going through as a new dad and being in racing. It’s opening up my life to fans and allow them to see me, and if they like me or not, to interact and create a closer relationship. The videos and vlog will shift and change as people tell me what they like to see and don’t want to see. Hopefully have fun with it. What hit me as I’ve been doing it is whether this is a successful thing or not, my great, great, great, great grandkids will have YouTube – or whatever it’s called then – that will be holding these videos and see what I did. I think that’s super cool that I can open up my life and know that the future of my family can see what I’ve done, be documented on the internet.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Media Day–Ty Dillon →

OUTLOOK FOR SEASON WITH CHANGE TO HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS SUPPORT:
“The new relationship with Hendrick Motorsports has been good. They have been so helpful in trying to develop our stuff. More than anything, just being able to have that technical alliance and for them to come over and make sure we are building the cars the right way and kind of going the same direction has been a lot of help. Chris Buescher tested at Las Vegas and I though the car was a lot fast. He talked highly that between what we have learned from Hendrick and the new Camaro ZL1 body was a lot better. We still have a lot of room to improve, but for sure, it is an organization that is going to help us a lot. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Media Day–AJ Allmendinger →

CHRIS BUESCHER, NO. 37 KLEENEX CHEVROLET CAMARO ZL1, met with members of the media at Daytona 500 Media Day. Full Transcript:

SO, YOU DO FEEL LIKE COMING BACK FOR A SECOND YEAR THERE IS MORE TO BUILD ON?
“Like all of the time you spend trying to get people to work together and get those relationships in place and learn everybody’s work habits that takes time. That is tough at the beginning of the season, especially when you look at the West Coast swing early on. We were trying to build parts for a second team then. It was just a lot of work that we weren’t focusing on speed of our racecars we were focusing on having race cars and having people and we don’t have to do that this season. I think that is a pretty big thing. Even when you go from team to team and people have worked together and I’m just a transplant into a team that has already been there, there is still a period of getting to know the crew chief, figuring out on our scale of how we balance a car out, all of that is done this season. I think that is a big thing to have because it is tough without that. We have had an Xfinity season where we had the same thing where we had the same group, but that off-season we were told that we didn’t know if we were going to make it the whole season. We were probably going to run the first 10 races and then have to shut it down. So, that is a whole different kind of stress and we don’t have any of that. We know what we are showing up to do. We know who is going to be there to do it and we are in a good place to be able to do it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Media Day–Chris Buescher →

“That’s part of why I’m running here. That’s part of why the last race in a Cup car is at Daytona. Not only is it the biggest race of the year, it’s wide open from a performance standpoint. It’s exciting. Anything can happen.”

Doesn’t it seem like just a few years ago you got here?
“No (laughter). I mean, I feel like I’ve been here a long time. This is the start of my 27th year of racing. It all gets a little bit blurry. Kind of like the mile-and-a-half’s, they all get a little bit blurry. I’m like, Where am I at, until I get inside and get in the car. YOU HAVEN’T MOVED AROUND MUCH IN YOUR CAREER. DOES THE DAY-TO-DAY JOB OF RACE CAR DRIVER HAVE A TOTALLY DIFFERENT TIMELINE OF COMMITMENTS OF WHAT A TEAM EXPECTS OF YOU DOES THAT VARY FROM TEAM TO TEAM?
“Yeah, it definitely varies. It varies from team to team or sponsor to sponsor and year to year as well. It is always kind of moving because it’s changed for me each year even with the same teams or different team’s different sponsors or same sponsors. Yeah, you just never know exactly what will be asked of you or how your season will look from that side of things.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Media Day–Kasey Kahne →

Are you tired of being compared to Dale (Earnhardt Jr.) and hearing about living up to expectations?
“It comes with the territory. Dale has been a big part of my career, left a huge mark on the sport and continues to influence the sport in a big way. I’m really blessed to be driving for Hendrick Motorsports and will do the best I can to keep this 88 up front.”

What would it mean to get your first win in the Daytona 500 in the 88?
“It would be really special to win the 500. I have a long day on Sunday to try to make that happen. We’ve been close to winning races with the 88 team before, so I know we can pick up where we left off and do it again.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Media Day–Alex Bowman →
