NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Feb 24, 2018) — The uncertainty that faced John Force Racing heading into the 34th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals has all but dissipated as the championship team heads into Sunday eliminations at the second of 24 races on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park outside of Phoenix.

In the final round of qualifying, Courtney Force powered her Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car to the No. 1 qualifying position. Force’s stellar 3.826-second pass at 335.98 mph is her first No. 1 at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park and set both ends of the track record. World champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. aiming
for early season success at Arizona Nationals
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Feb. 24) — Jeg Coughlin Jr. saved his best qualifying pass for last, navigating Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in 6.553 seconds at 210.14 mph early Saturday evening to jump up to the 11th starting slot at the 34th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals.

“That final pass definitely felt much better,” Coughlin said. “It moved out to the left a little bit and I had to work to get it back in the groove but I could tell as soon as I let the clutch out this thing was screaming. It could have been even better but I hit the rev-limiter in the 4-5 gear change, which is a big no-no, because it’s like tapping the brakes, which you obviously don’t want to do. Even so, we put an okay number up there. Continue reading World champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. aiming for early season success at Arizona Nationals →

RYAN NEWMAN FASTEST IN THE FINAL PRACTICE SESSION AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

HAMPTON, Ga. (February 24, 2018) – Yesterday, Ryan Newman placed his No. 31 Liberty National Camaro ZL1 on the outside pole for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. Today, he clocked the fastest time in the final practice session.

“I feel like we’ve got a good car,” Newman said following the session. “I think for sure a top 10 car, maybe a top five car, but the Liberty National Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was good off the truck and with this whole one Happy Hour it kind of changes things a little bit in how you approach it. Just look forward to the race whenever we get to it, whenever Mother Nature allows us and feel like we will be plenty competitive, just got to put it all together.”

Newman led a contingent of four Camaro ZL1 drivers in the top 10 in the final session. Seven-time Cup Series champion, Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s for Pros Camaro ZL1 was sixth in the final session followed by Chris Buescher, No. 37 Louisiana Hot Sauce Camaro ZL1 in seventh and Darrell “Bubba” Wallace, No. 43 NASCAR Racing Experience Camaro ZL1 in 10th.

The Fold of Honor QuikTrip 500 start time has been moved up one hour and will now begin at 1:00 p.m., EDT with live coverage on FOX, PRN and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

“It was ugly,” said Force of her Feb. 11 crash. “I was hurting for a few days but I feel good right now. I got in (the race car) yesterday. I think that was the best decision. I jumped in, got belted in and I felt good. I recovered pretty quickly. I’m glad to be back. You know, this is home; these racetracks are home.” Continue reading B. FORCE RETURNS TO RACING; C. COMP Cams joins Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt by ARP as 2018 heat race sponsor

ERIE, MI (February 21, 2018) – Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP is proud to announce that COMP Cams will be a primary heat race sponsor partner for the 2018 season.

COMP Cams’ partnership allows Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP to pay its competitors for winning heat races, something not very common in sprint car racing. SOD racers appreciate the opportunity to be rewarded for top performance in preliminary races, not just feature events.

For more than 35 years, the COMP Cams mission has never changed: to produce the highest-performing products possible, provide customers with superior service, and to lead the industry in technological development. While the COMP Performance Group has grown to multiple companies and hundreds of employees, COMP Cams still retains the competitive spirit and desire to be the very best that has positioned it as the absolute leader in valve train components. COMP Cams works with the best teams in sprint car racing and fits perfectly as a partner with SOD.
