MICHAEL ANNETT, NO. 46 PILOT/FLYING J CHEVEROLET SS, met with members of the media at Media Day at Daytona International Speedway. Full Transcript:

WERE YOU GUYS EVERY WORRIED THAT YOU WOULDN’T GET A CHARTER THIS YEAR?
“Definitely. My whole offseason was wondering if, first off, if the Charter System was going to come in place. There were times talking to Harry (Scott) that it was, you know, ‘I don’t think this is going to happen’, then next week it was ‘hey, this is going to happen.’ Having a full time sponsor, it was tough to go to them and saying that, ‘hey, we might not make the biggest race of the year.’ Especially the Daytona 500 and the circumstances it takes to get into the race. There are so many things that are out of your control. It’s hard to go to a sponsor that has committed to you for the full season and say ‘we might not make it.’ We are very fortunate that Harry was able work out the deal that he did. Last year, this week was the most stressful week of my life. This year, you can kind of breathe and focus more on the race rather than on Thursday. I think that is something totally different than what we were doing last year. Last year we were totally focused on the Duels, because we had to be top 15 in that race to make the 500. So this year we can really think about Sunday more than Thursday, unlike last year.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR Media Day–Michael Annett

ON RACING AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY:
“I’ve liked coming here since I was kid racing Go-Karts. I can remember with my mom and dad getting up at 4 in the morning from our hotel to park out in front of the old speedway because they would line-up like a thousand Go-Kart trucks and trailers and you might wait two or three hours in line for all the people to get in the garage. So, this has been a fun race track since I was a kid. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR Media Day–Jamie McMurray

YOU’VE BEEN THROUGH THIS FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW. DESCRIBE THE WAY THE SEASON EBBS AND FLOWS.
“It’s momentum for sure. We’re locked in such a tight box rules-wise that if you can find one little advantage, you see a guy run really well until the rest of the garage catches up. There’s not a lot of secrets in the garage. People talk a lot, so if someone has an advantage then it gets evened out pretty quickly. You see momentum, though. Kyle (Busch) won four or five races in a short span. Joey (Logano) won three in a row in the fall. So there’s definitely a lot of momentum involved. But there are tricks and people catch on.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR Media Day–Paul menard

An interview with:

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS CHEVROLET SS:

Q. Has it been a whirl the last couple of days?
CHASE ELLIOTT: It’s definitely been busy I guess the past couple days, with everything on Sunday happening like it did, which is great. It was a good way to start things off for our entire team and for NAPA, their first year back in Cup, kind of, other than the five races we ran last year.
We’re excited to be back. Definitely ready to get back to the racetrack. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR Media Day–Chase Elliott

TELL US YOUR VIEW OF THE NEW ‘OT’ SITUATION. HOW IS THAT GOING TO WORK VERSUS THE OTHER WAY?
“I think the overtime line in that situation is a halfway safe guarantee of giving the fans something they deserve and at the same time trying to keep it safe for us. The multiple-attempt part of it is a good thing. No matter what kind of system we have, there always will be an opportunity of manipulation. It’s up to the drivers as responsible representation of their owners, the series and themselves to not have what happened at Talladega again.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR Media Day–Ryan Newman

GREG ANDERSON, SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT/KB RACING CAMARO SS PRO STOCK-QUICK QUOTE: “It feels awesome. I don’t know where that came from. The good Lord was looking after my clutch on that one. When I had to get it done I got it done. Sorry, Jason (Line), maybe next week. It’s been a lot of hard work on this KB Racing team and everyone who supports us, especially Chevrolet. You have to love NHRA drag racing. It’s just awesome.”

WINNER’S PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT TO FOLLOW

JASON LINE, SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT/KB RACING CAMARO SS PRO STOCK-RUNNER-UP: ON THE FINAL AGAINST TEAMMATE GREG ANDERSON: “That was a good race. I think that’s what people come to watch. He wins this battle and gets bragging rights back at the shop so I have to live with that for a while. Just a great weekend for our team.
ARE YOU SURPRISED BY HOW WELL IT WENT THIS WEEKEND? “It felt like we made good progress (over the winter and in preseason testing), but you just don’t know until you show up with everybody on the same racetrack. I think we were better than I expected, and that’s a nice feeling.”
BO BUTNER, JIM BUTNER AUTO CAMARO SS PRO STOCK: “The KB team really flexed some muscles. I think we’re going to be tough for the first three or four races. It’s going to be a fun year, and we’re actually driving decent, which is scary (laugh).” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NHRA–56TH CIRCLE K NHRA WINTERNATIONALS

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS CHEVROLET SS – DAYTONA 500 POLE WINNER
“This is a very, very cool day. I don’t know that this opportunity has sunk in yet, much less sitting on the pole for the Daytona 500. So this is very cool. I think the big thing is just the team and the Daytona 500 qualifying is about the team guys and the effort they put into these cars and it’s nothing special I did, it’s really what kind of work they did this off-season to make it happen. Jeff (Gordon) knows all about that and I just wanted to give a big thanks to NAPA Auto Parts and all of our partners at HMS on this No. 24 car. This is very special and a great way to start the season.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–Daytona 500 Qualifying

PAUL MENARD, NO. 27 PEAK ANTIFREEZE/MENARD CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 3RD
WAS IT AS WILD FROM THE DRIVER’S SEAT AS IT WAS FOR THE FANS?
“It was a lot of fun. We struggled with speed by ourselves, but the car just drafted really well. I picked some wrong lanes and I picked some right lanes and in the end, the middle worked pretty well. It was a wild race and a lot of fun.”

HOW DIFFICULT WAS IT TO PASS?
“If you had room, you could really get a run and shoot a gap, but a lot of times you were just bogged-in and you just couldn’t go anywhere. Kyle (Larson) was really good at making an extra lane in the middle and I kind of followed him for a little bit. You could get really good runs. It was just, what do with it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Sprint Unlimited

DRIVER PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT
FEBRUARY 2, 2016

THE MODERATOR: A very special livery unveiling. We’d like to introduce you to the president of Chip Ganassi Racing, Steve Lauletta, and our reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion, Scott Dixon.

Gentlemen, we’ll have you start on each end and do the unveiling.

Steve, obviously this gives you goosebumps to see this, and the importance of Target with Chip Ganassi Racing. Speak of this great relationship you and Target have.

STEVE LAULETTA: It’s certainly been a strong suit of our team for a really long time, and with Chip. To be able to bring back the lightning bolt and the wins around the late ’90s. When we took the idea to Target, said there’s a lot of history talked about, there’s a lot of history with this guy sitting next to me yet to be made, but he’s already made some, they jumped onboard with bringing this back for the entire season. Happy to get it started today. Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Media Day–Chip Ganassi Racing Unveiling

THE MODERATOR: We’ll go ahead and continue with our Verizon IndyCar Series media availability. Pleased to be joined by Simon Pagenaud.

You’re entering the second year with the team. What are things you learned from the first year that you’re looking forward to continuing the second year?

SIMON PAGENAUD: It’s great to have the winter to get to work on the little details. This year was a lot of work, for sure. Between two teams assembled in a very nice way, we have some really, really good people on my car. Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Media Day–SIMON PAGENAUD, NO. 22 TEAM PENSKE

THE MODERATOR: We’re joined by team owner/driver Ed Carpenter.

You had some team changes earlier in the week. What will look different for 2016?

ED CARPENTER: Yeah, seems like big changes, but organizationally not huge internally. We had operated as Ed Carpenter Racing from 2012 through 2014, merged with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing to form CFH Racing. Then as we got into the off-season, towards the end of it, all sorts of things we don’t need to get into related to different things, partnership changes, structure changes that really precipitated us to going back to Ed Carpenter Racing when everything shook out. THE MODERATOR: We’re set to relive the 99th running of the Indianapolis 500. We’ll start with Will Power and Juan Montoya.
Gentlemen, welcome. Hopefully Media Day has treated you well, the off-season has treated you well. You have been all over the world. You have been very, very busy.
Let’s talk about that 99th running. Will, for you, it wasn’t exactly how you wanted things to finish. Going back and watching the last 10 laps of that race, it almost seemed like you were exactly where you wanted to be. You held everybody at bay until Juan got you in the end. What’s going through your mind in the last 10 laps?
WILL POWER: I mean, the last 10 laps, I could see Dixon was struggling. He wasn’t able to tow up, which was a good thing. He was holding everybody else off, which was a good thing. Then Juan just dropped and passed me straightaway. Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR Media Day–JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, NO. 2 TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET INDYCAR AND WILL POWER, NO. 12 TEAM PENSKE
