DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (July 1, 2016) – Austin Dillon notched his seventh top 10 starting spot of the season after qualifying sixth for the Coke Zero 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway in his No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/NRA Museum Chevrolet SS.

WHAT IS THE SECRET TO NAVIGATING THIS TRACK?
“Well, the first thing is you’ve got to have a fast car and that starts with the fabrication department, the engine shop; the crew chief has got to be sharp knowing every little part of the car that can influence the speed of the car. You’ve got to just have everything in a row there. The car needs to be as good as it possibly can be. That really makes the driver’s job a lot easier when the car is a dominant car. I’ve had plenty of dominant race cars down here. And when you’re out on the race track and you have such a good car, you gain more and more confidence as the weekend goes and your confidence really starts to create more opportunities. When you’re confident about your car, you’re trying more passes and trying to do more things. If you don’t feel confident in your car, you might second-guess a decision or not do something. Every little move you make out there sort of puts you in position to win. I don’t think it’s just one thing that you do at the end of the race. It think it’s from the very beginning of the race and what you’re doing lap after lap is going to determine where you are at the end of the race and what position you’re in and how confident you are about your situation. It just keeps going throughout the weekend. The car really kicks it off. 2017 Camaro Announced for NASCAR XFINITY Series
Sixth-generation Camaro bodywork debuts next February at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – As the Camaro marks the 50th anniversary of its introduction this year, Chevrolet announced today the sixth-generation Camaro SS will serve as the model for Chevrolet race cars in the NASCAR XFINITY Series ™, starting next season.

The updated Camaro race car was shown today at Daytona International Speedway ahead of tomorrow’s Subway Firecracker 250 Presented by Coca-Cola. The official racing debut comes next February at the 2017 season’s NASCAR XFINITY Series kickoff race at Daytona.

“For the past 50 years, Camaro has played a key role in Chevrolet’s racing success in winning races and championships,” said Mark Kent, director, Chevrolet Racing. “We look forward to further success with the new Camaro SS in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.”

Computational fluid dynamics analysis, as well as traditional full- and reduced-scale wind-tunnel development, was used to refine the shapes of the unique upper nose and hood of the new 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series Camaro SS.

The fifth-generation Camaro was introduced into the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2013.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series showcases some of the world’s most talented drivers and the stars of tomorrow – all creating defining moments that help make their name and ignite legacies. Chevrolet drivers have captured five NASCAR XFINITY Series checkered flags so far in 2016, bringing Chevrolet’s tally to 408 victories in the modern era since 1982 – and contributing to the most manufacturer titles in NASCAR history.

“Racing improves the breed and helps us design better cars for the showroom,” said Kent. “That’s why Chevrolet is on the track week after week, year after year.”

It’s an event that the Corvette DP has won each of the last four years with double-podium finishes each season.

Four Corvette Daytona Prototypes are on the entry list for Sunday’s sixth Prototype race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and third of four events in the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup. TONY STEWART TAKES THRILLING WIN AT SONOMA
Five Chevy SS Drivers Earn Top 10 Finishes at California Road Course

SONOMA, Calif. (June 26, 2016) – Tony Stewart made an epic last-lap pass in his No. 14 Code 3 Associates/Mobil 1 Chevrolet SS to claim his 49th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory and third triumph at Sonoma Raceway in today’s Toyota Save Mart 350. It has been 110 races, 84 in which Stewart has competed, since the Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) co-owner last visited Victory Lane at Dover in October 2013.

At his admitted favorite track on the circuit, the 45-year-old Cup Series veteran and three-time champion played the pit strategy game and held off two hard charging competitors to claim a win in his final season as a full-time Sprint Cup Series driver. Although the win does not officially punch Stewart’s ticket into the Chase, he now sits only nine points out of the pinnacle 30th position in the point standings, with 10 races remaining before the Chase grid is decided. CHEVROLET LEADS FAST FRIDAY AT SONOMA

SONOMA, Calif. (June 24, 2016) – The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series hit the 1.99-mile road course in Sonoma, California today for two practice sessions prior to Sunday’s Toyota Save Mart 350. The No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS of Kyle Larson led the way in the first session with a fast lap of 95.141 mph/75.299 seconds. In the afternoon Dale Earnhardt, Jr. piloting the No. 88 Axalta Chevy SS topped the leader board by laying down a speed of 95.298 mph/75.175 seconds.

The next task for all 20 Chevrolet SS drivers and teams will be qualifying, tomorrow at 11:15 a.m. PT. Live coverage will be available on FoxSports 1, PRN Radio, Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 90 and NASCAR.com.

ON BEING THE FASTEST IN THE FINAL PRACTICE SESSION:
“When Greg (Ives, crew chief) and those guys unloaded the car we had run pretty good here the last couple of years. So, we just kind of kept going in the same direction set-up wise and it has been helping. Right off the truck, man, we were really fast. Throughout the whole first practice we did a lot of race trim. The car was incredibly quick. I have never had a car this good here. I was just so proud of the guys. I don’t think I’m terrible at road courses, but I’m definitely not the best guy here. Our car is amazing. We went out in the last practice and focused on our qualifying trim and feel like that we have a good shot at qualifying well. I’m not going to say we’ve got the pole, because we didn’t get to see what everybody has, but some of those guys will get up there and put some laps down. We will just try to get in that top 10, top-five and get a good pit selection and have a good race on Sunday.”

CAN YOU GET TO VICTORY LANE ON SUNDAY?
“Well, we will obviously need some luck. We have been quick here before and we definitely have the racecar that can win the race. If we have everything go our way on pit road and I don’t make too many mistakes out on the race track we should be in good shape.”

TALK ABOUT THAT A LITTLE BIT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A WILDCARD RACE. WHAT MAKES IT THAT WAY? WHAT MAKES IT CHALLENGING? HOW HAS IT SHAPED-UP OVER THE LAST DECADE?
“It is a wildcard race, but I feel like, quickly going through my memory, whichever driver has won has had a dominating day and a strong performance throughout the day. It’s hard to repeat that; for whatever reason, I don’t exactly know. But, I think we’ve seen a real interesting shift in the last 10 years where the road course ringers have come in and they aren’t taking the trophies home; it’s really the NASCAR regulars. I think it shows the versatility we have as drivers and the teams as well, that set-up the car and make the car get around here. Strategy does play a role and I think that cost us the win last year. So, occasionally you have maybe a fuel mileage race that might mix it up a little bit, or strategy; and I think we just had a handful of laps left and decided to stay out and new tires got to us quickly last year.
