Austin Dillon Drives No. 3 Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet to Victory Lane at Pocono Raceway

Austin Dillon drove Richard Childress Racing’s Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet to his sixth-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win on Saturday afternoon at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa. The Welcome, N.C., driver started the 60-lap race from the second position and noted a tight-handling condition to crew chief Nick Harrison from the start of the event. He pitted under green-flag conditions on lap 30, taking four Goodyear tires and Sunoco Green E15 Fuel. As pit stops cycled through, Dillon raced his way into the second position and took the lead during the restart on lap 53. Several late-race cautions ensued but Dillon endured, surviving a Green-White-Checker finish that extended the race past its advertized distance to secure a win for America’s Oldest Brewery in their home state of Pennsylvania.

Start – 2nd Finish – 1st Laps Led – 23 Points – N/A

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTE:
“Anytime you can get a NASCAR win it’s huge, so I am so thankful to everyone at RCR, ECR and Yuengling for this opportunity. I watched my brother at Indianapolis Motor Speedway get a win last week and that really rejuvenated me I feel like. These seasons are so long. I loved watching him do that. It puts the fire back in you because you want to get to that place again. Seeing him in Victory Lane and being with him in Victory Lane. It’s a special place and from time to time you have to be reminded of how special it is. I attribute some of what Ty did last week to running well this week. I’m jacked up and wanting to get a Cup win now.”

Dyson Racing–Rain Shortens Bentley Effort at Mid-Ohio

Rain Shortens Bentley Effort at Mid-Ohio
LEXINGTON, OH – When it rains part way through a sprint race it tends to shake things up. A mid-afternoon storm worked against Butch Leitzinger and Dyson Racing Team Bentley in Round 11 of the Pirelli World Challenge at Mid-Ohio today. Leitzinger, who had moved his #08 Bentley Continental GT3 up from his eighth starting spot to sixth when the skies opened, emerged from the pits for rain tires in 12th position under yellow flag conditions, but the highest-placed car on rain tires. But that’s where he finished when the race was red-flagged a few minutes later. Continue reading Dyson Racing–Rain Shortens Bentley Effort at Mid-Ohio

Ross Hoek–Catch TORC Action From Bark River This Sunday

Catch TORC Action From Bark River This Sunday
Irvine, Calif. – TORC: The Off-Road Championship Presented by AMSOIL is racing at the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Tuesday and Wednesday, but before that, NBC Sports is airing the TORC race from the recent Throwdown in the U.P., part 2 from Bark River, MI. The race airs Sunday on the NBC Sports Network at 1:30 p.m. EDT.

The off-road action at the Bark River (Mich.) International Raceway has long been considered some of the best in the sport and the racing from TORC’s second trip to the Upper Peninsula in 2014 will not disappoint. Heading into Rds. 9 and 10 of the schedule, Doug Mittag (PRO Light), CJ Greaves (PRO 2), and Johnny Greaves (PRO 4) were the class points leaders, but it’s safe to say no leads are safe until the championship trophies are hoisted after the final race at Crandon.

Two days after the NBC Sports broadcast, TORC is kicking off their inaugural race on a brand-new race track in Sturgis, SD at The Legendary Buffalo Chip during Bike Week. West Coast Choppers’ Jesse James is competing against some of the best off-road racers in the world in a Cooper Tires PRO 2WD truck.

All the racing on Tuesday and Wednesday is available via live, free streaming at TORCSeries.com. The racing both days are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. PDT/5 p.m. EDT.

HELIO CASTRONEVES, DRIVER OF THE NO. 3 HITACHI TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET V6 INDYCAR:

YOU WERE IN THIS POSITION A YEAR AGO. WHAT DID YOU LEARN THEN THAT WILL CARRY YOU OVER?
“Good question. Make sure the gearbox stays all the way to the end! Or if there is a doubleheader, make sure we change everything. It’s a very difficult decision to think through. You look back and maybe you take more risks in some areas. I don’t know. I always worry about a rain day. When I say that, it’s not literally but it’s in case something bad happens. At least you have something in your pocket. At this point last year, I think we were more comfortable. We didn’t think a bad thing could happen. It wasn’t a rain day but it was like a thunderstorm. You have to keep going and working hard and not worry about the guys. Right now, just push it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–IndyCar–Mid-Ohio–Media Appearances

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 TARGET CHEVROLET SS – POLE WINNER
“I thought it would be Joey (Logano) too. Those Penske cars are fast every weekend. To get a pole here, my first ‘real’ pole (Kyle started on the pole at Richmond when qualifying was rained out) feels great. To come to a ‘tricky triangle’ like this there is no other race track like it. It’s fun because you get to shift and hit your marks. It’s difficult so I’m glad I could win the pole it feels great. Hopefully, we can get our first career win this weekend too in the No. 42 Target Chevy.”

TALK ABOUT COMING HERE TO POCONO A PLACE YOU HAVE HAD SUCCESS:
“I feel really good about coming back here the second time around. We had a lot of speed last week at Indianapolis. That is a good feeling, a similar track in certain ways, but a lot different in others. Just trying to keep up with that. Practice was pretty good there. We made some gains. I didn’t get a real good lap in qualifying practice, but we were on both sides of it. Hopefully, we will have a good shot when it’s time later. I feel good about this weekend. Looking forward to it. We definitely need a little more practice still, but feel good about our chance on Sunday.”

TELL US WHY GREG IVES WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE OF THE NO. 88:
“I think from a lot of different levels. I think if you look at the structure that we’ve got in place the way we are working closely with JR Motorsports. We wanted to get that team set-up to where it could be used as a farm team to help lead Hendrick Motorsports. Greg is obviously a very good fit with me and the rest of the team at the 48/88 shop. He worked his way up from a mechanic to a chassis set-up guy to the No. 48 lead engineer and won championships with us. I think that from that stand point it’s really a no brainer.”
