Nothing but positive Vegas memories
for multi-time champ Erica Enders
LAS VEGAS (Oct. 25) — In her championship years of 2014 and 2015, Erica Enders was untouchable at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, winning six straight events, including both the spring and fall national events and consecutive K&N Filters Horsepower Challenges.

The spunky Texan is hoping to recapture some of that magic this weekend when she returns to her favorite racetrack for the 17th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals, the penultimate race of the 2017 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Scelzi Returning to Australia to Compete for World Series Sprintcars Championship

Scelzi Returning to Australia to Compete for World Series Sprintcars Championship

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2017) – Dominic Scelzi is pleased to announce that he will return to Australia this winter to compete for the World Series Sprintcars championship.

Scelzi will head overseas to drive for Wormall Motorsport during the 14-race series that invades 10 tracks in Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and West Australia from Dec. 26 to Feb. 25. The team will also participate in several marquee events, including the Kings Challenge, President’s Cup and Scott Darley Classic to name a few.

“To be able to compete at the highest level down there is going to be exciting,” he said. “It will be a challenge because it’s the best guys there are. My game has to be on.

“My goal is to win the championship. The Rookie of the Year Award would be cool, but I want to go down there and compete to win the championship. James McFadden and Jamie Veal are two of the toughest guys to beat in Australia and guys I’ve raced with this year in the United States.”

Scelzi made his Australia debut throughout the 2016-17 offseason when he drove for Wormall Motorsport. He helped lead Team USA to the Origin of Speed victory, placed sixth during a preliminary night of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and recorded two podiums, three top fives and four top 10s to finish tied for third place in the USA vs. WA Sprintcar Speedweek standings.

“I want to thank the Wormall Family for bringing me back,” he said. “They are like a second family to me. I look forward to getting down there, spending time with them and racing with them.”

Scelzi is off this weekend before returning to action on Nov. 4 at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series and Sprint Car Challenge Tour. It will be his second-to-final weekend of racing in the United States this season.

Drag Illustrated Driver Blog: Megan Meyer

Drag Illustrated Driver Blog: Megan Meyer

One word to describe how my rookie year (2016) in Top Alcohol Dragster ended: heartbreaking. This year, I’d say we ended confidently. Although we had a few ups and downs, we still came out strong with one NHRA national event win at Joliet, four Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series wins at Florida, Louisiana, Kansas, Iowa, and three runner-ups. That’s eight final rounds, one Lucas Oil Central Region championship, and a provisional second-place finish in national points, in 15 races. Not only have Blaney and his Wood Brothers team excelled on the track this year – from winning a pole at Kansas, a race at Pocono and making it into the third round of the playoffs – they’ve had fun getting there.

Blaney said he and his team have a good working relationship, and that extends to their personal dealings as well. Continue reading Blaney, Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team Savoring Their Success As They Prepare For Martinsville

Troy Coughlin closing in on third Pro
Mod title from unfamiliar lead position
LAS VEGAS (Oct. 25) — Troy Coughlin may be a two-time champion in the J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, but he’s never entered the final race of the year with the points lead. That’ll change this weekend at the 17th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals when he arrives at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a 26-point cushion over Mike Castellana.

“Unchartered territory,” Coughlin said with a laugh. “Seriously, I’m not surprised at all because every single year it goes down to the wire. This year is certainly no different and we weren’t expecting anything less.”

Richard Childress Racing Retains Andy Petree as Advisor
Former team owner, driver and championship-winning crew chief to assist RCR in an advisory role for competition area

WELCOME, N.C. (October 25, 2017) – NASCAR veteran Andy Petree will assist Richard Childress Racing in an advisory role in the competition area. Petree, who has held numerous roles in his 30-year stock car racing career, will be retained as an outside resource. Petree has experience as a championship-winning crew chief, driver, team owner and most recently, as an analyst for Fox Sports.

“We welcome Andy to RCR in an advisory role,” said RCR Chairman and CEO Richard Childress. “Andy is someone I’ve known for many years and his knowledge of our industry runs deep. He is well respected within our community and will provide a fresh perspective as we evaluate opportunities to improve.”

Petree’s NASCAR accomplishments are admirable; he was the crew chief for the late Dale Earnhardt when he won championships in 1993 and 1994. Petree worked as a car owner from 1996 to 2004 and fielded teams in all three of NASCAR’s top touring series. GenRight–Ultra4 Nationals – Race Report

I am excited to announce that I was able to put Team GenRight / Falken Tires #4585
on the podium again this past weekend at the 2017 Ultra4 Nationals in our 4500 Modified
class Jeep!
The weekend was smooth with no major mechanical failures. The course was brutal and got
worse with every lap! As the track dried out on race day the dust got thick and drivers were
taking bigger risks than before. New rocks were getting dug up and kicked onto the track,
ready to end anyone’s day at any moment. I also got the chance to visit the Renown
Children’s Hospital in Reno on Friday with a few other top Ultra4 drivers. It was a great
weekend of racing! Continue reading GenRight–Ultra4 Nationals – Race Report

Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2017) – Giovanni Scelzi had one of the fastest race cars last weekend during the 24th annual Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on his side during preliminary A Mains on Thursday and Friday.

The three-day event, which featured approximately 90 drivers, began with Scelzi and the Roth Motorsports team setting quick time during group qualifying on Thursday. Scelzi then powered from sixth to third place in a heat race to earn enough points to lock into the 10th starting position of the main event. Jeg Coughlin Jr. hoping to celebrate a championship in Vegas, just not his own

Jeg Coughlin Jr. hoping to celebrate a championship in Vegas, just not his own
LAS VEGAS (Oct. 24) — Several times in the past, Pro Stock veteran Jeg Coughlin Jr. has arrived at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the annual NHRA Toyota Nationals with world championships hanging in the balance. That’s the case once again this time through, only rather than bagging another one for himself, six-time champ Coughlin is hoping to celebrate his brother Troy’s third title in the Pro Mod class.

“The Pro Stock championship is out of reach for us this year but Troy is leading the Pro Mod points with a great chance to wrap up his third title in the last six years this weekend,” Jeg said. “It’s a very exciting time for him and everyone on his team, as well as the 350-plus associates at JEGS and the rest of our extended family.

“We’ve come in here fighting from behind and we’ve also come in here in the lead trying to hold everyone off. Most of the time we’ve come out on top, and a few times we came up a little short, but certainly we know the magic of this racetrack and the importance it holds for drag racers. That’s especially true for Troy because Pro Mod finishes its season here, whereas the other pro categories have one more race to go after Vegas.” Continue reading Jeg Coughlin Jr. hoping to celebrate a championship in Vegas, just not his own
