Line has the speed, now wants the win at Maple Grove Raceway

READING, Pa., October 3, 2015 – When qualifying for the 31st annual NHRA Keystone Nationals was cut way, way short, Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line didn’t hesitate to shift his focus to making Sunday the best day of the week. Line has two Maple Grove Raceway wins, most recently in 2011, and the goal for Sunday is to get one more at the third race of six in NHRA’s 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.

With just one run to set themselves up for Sunday, Line and Team Summit powered down the racetrack to a 6.536-second pass at 213.23 mph. Line will start from the No. 5 position – his best since the race in Brainerd where he was also No. 5 and raced to the final round.

“We definitely qualified better than we have been lately, even though we didn’t exactly make the run we had hoped for,” said Line. “But with conditions like this, it’s a little bit of a guessing game. We ended up fifth out of 17 cars here this weekend, and we’re somewhat satisfied with that. Now we just have to start working towards the goal for raceday.”

Line’s title quest in Reading will begin on Sunday with a first-round meeting with Vincent Nobile. The two most recently met in the second round at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

“I’m no weatherman, but I think we should be good for tomorrow,” said Line, the current Maple Grove track record holder for speed with a 214.35 mph clocked in 2012. Line’s 213.23 recorded this weekend is tied with KB Racing teammate Greg Anderson for top speed of the meet.

“It was tough out there for the one run we did have in qualifying, but the [racing surface] was really good down-track, and we were able to get some useful data. We’ll have to see how it works out tomorrow, but you can bet we’ll be working to put one of our Summit Racing Chevy’s in the winner’s circle.”
