Line a Standout Performer on Day One in Sonoma

SONOMA, Calif., July 31, 2015 – Jason Line wheeled his blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro to two very impressive passes on the first day of qualifying at the 28th annual NHRA Sonoma Nationals, and the three-time Sonoma winner is very much looking forward to two more qualifying passes in preparation for raceday at one of the KB Racing team’s most favored tracks on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour.

Line is so far qualified in the No. 2 position and on target for his best start since he was low qualifier in Atlanta at the Summit Racing NHRA Southern Nationals earlier this season.

In the first round of Sonoma qualifying, Line was out of the gate with a brilliant 6.519-second pass at 211.69 mph in his Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro. It was the second quickest pass of the round and only behind his Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson, who was on the pole after the first session.

The later session on Friday brought about another good set of runs for Team Summit as Line picked up another pair of bonus points for his second-quickest 6.507, 212.26.

“Today was definitely a better day for us. It’s been a long time coming, and it feels good to have all four of our KB Racing cars in the top half,” said Line, referring to No. 3 Anderson as well as KB Racing-powered Vincent Nobile and Bo Butner, who were No. 4 and No. 7, respectively.

“We can see that there is room for more, but our KB Racing guys did a good job today. I feel very good about today for the Summit Racing team,” Line continued. “Our team almost had that No. 1 but Chris McGaha made a really good run (6.499). I’ll give credit where credit is due. He made a nice run, and now we know for sure that you can run 6.40s in Sonoma. Now the rest of us have work to do.”
