PERMATEX/FOLLOW A DREAM TEAM QUALIFIES NO. 1, SETS TOP SPEED

PERMATEX/FOLLOW A DREAM TEAM QUALIFIES NO. 1, SETS TOP SPEED

Marstons Mills, MA-May 28, 2015-Jay Blake’s Permatex/Follow A Dream team qualified No. 1, set top speed, and reached the semifinals at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series East Regional at Maple Grove Raceway. Driver Todd Veney qualified in the top spot with a 5.53 – just one-hundredth of a second from the team’s all-time best e.t. – and ran the fastest speed of his career, 265.53 mph.

After a first-round win over John Headley, 5.75 to 7.03, Veney lost to D.J. Cox in the semifinals by 21-thousandths of a second, 5.55 to 5.54. “He must have been ahead the whole way, but I never saw him,” Veney said. “Losing is never acceptable – no matter how close it was or how well the car ran – but it’s running better right now than it ever has. We’ve set top speed at more than half the races we’ve run this year.”

“It was a good weekend,” said Blake. “You’re not going to win every time, and the car was fast all weekend, the crew did a perfect job, and we didn’t hurt a part.”

The next race is June 26-27 at Lebanon Valley Dragway, where the Follow A Dream team has won two years in a row and three times in the past five years. It will be the start of the team’s busiest stretch ever – four races in four weeks: Lebanon Valley, N.Y.; Norwalk, Ohio; Chicago; and Epping, N.H.

Bigfoot Update–12 BIGFOOT Trucks at the Summit Racing Equipment Autorama!

12 BIGFOOT Trucks at the Summit Racing Equipment Autorama!

May 21, 2015 (St. Louis, MO) – Reflecting on the Summit Racing Equipment Autorama, now that we are finally back in the groove…what an awesome, crazy, rainy, successful weekend! It was the first time we had all 12 BIGFOOT® trucks in one location. Watching all 12 BIGFOOT haulers come through the tunnel and enter the infield of Atlanta Motor Speedway was incredible. It made us think of how truly lucky we are to have some of the best people in the industry working with us at BIGFOOT 4X4, Inc., both past and present! To think of how far we have come in 40 years is just amazing.

Once all the trucks were “tired-up,” we were offered the opportunity to bring all of them up on the track for some photo opportunities – staging them for different shots was crazy fun. It was really humbling just watching all of this happen (and to see Bob Chandler look like a kid in a candy store). We would like to thank Ted and all the guys at Atlanta Motor Speedway – what an awesome group of people!

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t the best, but people showed up anyway and the day just got better. We had Bob Chandler hanging out by BIGFOOT #1 visiting with fans – how awesome is that?! We crushed cars during the day with the Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT, Trick Flow BIGFOOT, and even the Firestone Tires BIGFOOT. We had large crowds and everyone was excited to watch the crushes and just to walk around and see that many trucks up close with all of the drivers available. Regrettably, the weather put a huge damper on Sunday, and the event was finally canceled in the afternoon. We would like to shout out a big THANK YOU to Jim Greenleaf and all of the guys of Summit Racing Equipment for making this happen – we could not have made this event happen without you!

Ken Stotz Racing–Lucas Oil Raceway

Finals in the Season Opener

With rain on and off all day Saturday the Lucas Oil Raceway crew and NHDRO staff rose another level trying to get the track dried so we can scream down the 1320. Luckily the rain held off just enough to get two of the three qualifiers in. We ran a 7.21@194 in the first qualifier just to see the bike get from point A to point B and check out track conditions just before the rain came. Amazingly the rain stopped just long enough to get the track dried off and another qualifier for all racers. We stepped it up by running a 7.11@ 196. attacking the eighth mile hard and turning the boost down on the big end to save wear and tear on the motor. We ended up #3 qualifier and were confident about eliminations on Sunday if the rain could hold off.

Well low and behold mother nature heard all our prayers and sent the rain else where. In the first round of eliminations we were attacking half track hard and playing it safe out the back door for a 7.01@196 mph. Second round we stepped it up even more running 6.98@197 mph. This was our best numbers to half track. All we needed to do now was to put all the power down the entire 1320. We made a slight clutch change before the semi-final. Unfortunately our opponent and friendly rival Mark Paquette blew the oil filter off his bike in the burnout giving Frankie a bye win to the finals. We slowed to a 7.04@198 mph. The bike didn’t like the clutch change. We really had to step up our game to beat Bud Yoder in the finals. He was running record numbers all day. In the finals Frankie cut an awesome .020 light and peaked at a 6.95@201 but wasn’t enough for Yoder’s record tying 6.84@211 mph. Running our best 1/8 mile times to date we are certain this is just the beginning to an amazing season and next time we will prevail on top.

Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Juan Pablo Montoya

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, NO 2 VERIZON TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, WINNER OF 99TH RUNNING OF THE INDIANAPOLIS 500 met with media Monday and discussed his second victory in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Full transcript:

THE MODERATOR: We’ll go ahead and get started with our availability with the winner of the 99th Indianapolis 500, Juan Pablo Montoya.
A little less than 24 hours since you took the checkered flag there. Has it sunk in yet that you’ve won the Indy 500 for a second time?
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA: I think it has. Sorry, my voice is not at its best after the screaming yesterday.
I think yesterday it did. I mean, as I was coming to the line, I was really happy. It was like, It’s happening. You know, it’s pretty cool.
After that, I don’t know, I get really excited for a very short time, then it’s, Let’s move on, next. You know what I mean?
Even last night I was thinking, Okay, we got to make sure, you know, we done really well this year so far, we got pretty much four podiums in six races, two wins out of six races. We got to make sure we keep the ball rolling if we want to try to win the championship.
You know that Will’s going to be there every week. Dixon is going to be there every week, so… It’s going to be hard.
It’s exciting. It’s exciting to start the season like that. So it’s pretty cool. Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Juan Pablo Montoya

Ryan Blaney and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion didn’t make it all the way to the end of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. An engine problem put him out of the race at Lap 283 of 400 after he’d run in the top 15 for most of the night. He was credited with a 42nd-place finish.

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S PATRIOTIC CHEVROLET SS – Sidelined on Lap 275 in single car spin & crash. The team made repairs, and Johnson returned to the competition on lap 331.

WHAT WAS GOING ON OUT THERE?
“For us the car was just really loose. It was fast, but as soon as I would get close to somebody else my car would bug out and get so edgy. Lost it twice, about had it saved both times. Once we would get in clean air and get strung out I could fly up through the field and went from last to fifth there. Then I had a lap car on the outside and a car I had been stalking on the bottom and then I tried to roll into the top behind the lap car. The thing just bugged out in the dirty air and around it went again. A tough day to try to get the balance right in the car.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Coca-Cola 600
