SPENCER HYDE GAINS CONSISTENCY IN CHICAGO

CHICAGO (May 17, 2026) — Spencer Hyde, the Canadian driver of the Head Contractors and Engineers Funny Car, continued to build consistency this weekend at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK. The reigning NHRA Rookie of the Year made his best pass of the season during qualifying, earning him a solid No. 5 qualifying position in a stacked Funny Car field.

“Three out of our four qualifying runs were handedly in the 3.9-second range, and when you can consistently make those quick A-to-B runs, that gives both the driver and team a lot of confidence,” said Hyde. “Now that we’re seeing more consistency, I’m hoping more personal bests will also be around the corner.”

Hyde’s best pass of the weekend came during the third round of qualifying, a 3.930 second, 329.26 mph pass that was the quickest of the session, earning him three valuable bonus points. This run was also both the quickest and fastest of his 2026 season thus far.

“That run felt really good, from my perspective in the seat,” said Hyde. “I was confident even before I read the time slip that it was our best run of the year. It was great to see that I was right. That run also made me excited because I knew the conditions of that run would be like E1 on race day.”

The Chicago area race is the sixth of the season and is the beginning of summer racing. It was obvious to all the race teams why Chicago is called The Windy City, as they all battled the windy conditions throughout the weekend. In the first round, Hyde was up against No. 12 qualifier Alexis DeJoria, a driver he had a 2-1 record against in previous eliminations.

“I’ve faced Alexis now a few times, and I know what to expect when it comes to her routine,” said Hyde. “I knew it would be windy, but that was an obstacle everyone in the class was having to deal with. I was optimistic going into the run, but we unfortunately overpowered the track with the tune up, and Alexis was able to get the best of me, even though I left on her. Now that we have a tied record, I look forward to our next matchup.”

DeJoria went on to runner-up, making this the sixth race of the season where the driver who eliminated Hyde went on to either win the race or runner-up in the finals.

Despite the early race day exit, Hyde is thankful for the continued support of his sponsors, including Hyde Construction, OUTLAW Light Beer and the Caine Group.

“Our sponsors deserved better than what we were able to execute today,” said Hyde. “But we did make a lot of progress from a data perspective with the car this weekend, and I am looking forward to turning on more win lights for them when we head to another new track in Maryland in a few weeks.”

Hyde and the Head Contractors and Engineers Funny Car will be back in competition in two weeks at the NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by JEGS on May 29-31 at Maryland International Raceway. For this new national event, there will be two qualifying sessions on Friday, May 29 and two qualifying sessions on Saturday, May 30. Dillon, Zilisch Lead Chevrolet with Top-Five Results at Dover Motor Speedway

NASCAR Cup Series Dover Motor Speedway All-Star Race Team Chevy Post-Race Report May 17, 2026

·        Austin Dillon led Chevrolet to the checkered flag in the NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway – driving the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to a fourth-place result to earn his career-best finish in the annual non-points paying event. Rebounding from an early pit road penalty in the final segment, Connor Zilisch battled back to earn a fifth-place finish in his first career NASCAR All-Star Race appearance.  ·        For the fourth consecutive weekend, Chevrolet took over half of the top-10 finishing positions with Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron and Alex Bowman taking home seventh- and ninth-place results, respectively, with Spire Motorsports’ Michael McDowell racing his way into the final segment en route to an eighth-place finish.

FINAL SEGMENT RECAP:
·        Six of the eight drivers that raced their way into the final segment by the cumulative total of their finishes in Segments One and Two came from the Chevrolet camp: Trackhouse Racing’s Connor Zilisch, Spire Motorsports’ Michael McDowell, Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman, Hyak Motorsports’ Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon. Earning the Fan Vote was Spire Motorsports’ Daniel Suarez, giving Chevrolet 13 of the 26 entries for the final segment.
 ·        With the field re-stacked for the final segment, it was William Byron and Connor Zilisch that led the Bowtie brigade to the green flag from positions within the top-five. In his first All-Star Race appearance, Zilisch quickly topped the Team Chevy leaderboard when he made a pass for the fourth position early in the run. Reaching Lap 35 of the segment, radio to the rookie driver indicated he was posting the fastest lap times of the field during the opening run. Showcasing the speed of his No. 88 Chevrolet, Zilisch was progressively closing the gap to the top-three cars, reaching just an 1.2-second margin with 20 laps remaining until the competition caution. With assistance from lap traffic, Zilisch and Byron were able to drive their Chevrolet’s to the bumpers of the leaders as the run reached single digits. Zilisch was able to make it up to second and hold onto the position en route to the caution.
 ·        Under the competition caution, Zilisch reported that he fired off tight and struggled with rear grip on the long run. Crew Chief Randall Burnett called his driver to pit road for four tires, fuel and an adjustment, and while maintaining position in the race off pit road, the No. 88 was forced to the rear of the field after enduring a penalty on the stop. With the mishap, Byron was able to move up to the second position to lead the field to the restart from the front row. Setting up for what looked to be like a long green flag run, Byron was settled into the second position with an 1.8-second margin from then race leader, Denny Hamlin, as the race hit the halfway mark. A rather quiet driver behind the wheel, Byron made a quick report of right-rear build up that was similar to what he experienced in the previous run. Yet another long run set up for a green flag pit cycle that saw Byron being called to pit road with 64 laps to go for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment. But an untimely caution fell shortly thereafter, ultimately putting the No. 24 in the 16th position for the restart. Once the green flag pit cycle was complete, it was Austin Dillon that led the Chevrolet charge, climbing into the fourth position with 20 laps remaining. Also re-entering the top-five in the late-race run was Zilisch, with the pair of Team Chevy drivers going on to lead the manufacturer to the checkered flag.
·        Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain were locked into the final 200-lap run and a shot at the one-million-dollar grand prize, but damage sustained to their Chevrolet’s in the first-two segments ultimately took the pair out of contention.

Post-Race Driver Quotes: Ross Chastain, No. 1 Trackhouse Racing ChevroletSidelined by damage sustained in an accident in Segment Two. “It knocked the front clip off our No. 1 Busch Light Chevy. It’s a bummer. We executed the first segment really well. We weren’t passing anyone really, by any means, but we were able to maintain position, which has not been the case with this downforce package. With Brandon McSwain’s (crew chief) steps ahead, our Chevy drove a lot better than at Bristol, so there’s a lot to look forward to if we take another step like that for the next one.”

Austin Dillon, No. 3 Richard Childress Racing ChevroletFinished: 4th “I’m just proud of the No. 3 BREZTRI AEROSPHERE® (budesonide, glycopyrrolate, and formoterol fumarate) Chevrolet team and the adjustments they made. We had a really fast car on the long run there and we were able to run down the No. 43 (Erik Jones) with a couple laps to go. We were trying to save in case a caution would come out. Overall, just really proud of the effort. Dover Motor Speedway is historically our worst track, but we were able to lean on our teammate, Kyle Busch, this weekend and that really helped. I feel like we’re trending upwards. We were 34th in practice, so we chopped, cut and rebuilt our No. 3 BREZTRI AEROSPHERE® (budesonide, glycopyrrolate, and formoterol fumarate) Chevrolet to go to what the No. 8 team ran. It’s really nice to have a teammate that you can rely on.”   Kyle Busch, No. 8 Richard Childress Racing ChevroletFinished: 17th “Unfortunate day for the entire No. 8 Lucas Oil Chevrolet here at Dover Motor Speedway. We had a strong car in practice and qualifying, and were driving forward through the first segment. During our first pit stop, we got a penalty for speeding on pit road, which sent us to the tail of the field and then we got caught up in a wreck in the final laps of the segment that took a toll on the car. The team spent most of the second segment working on the car in the garage, and while we got the balance better, we ultimately lost track position in the third segment that we were never able to recover from. The car was tight, and I lost rear grip. We’re leaving here with a 17th-place finish and now we’ll reset and get ready for the Coke 600 next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”   Chase Elliott, No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports ChevroletSidelined by damage sustained in an accident at the end of Segment One. “It was wild, for sure. I didn’t really know what the best thing to do was. I probably should have stayed out and tried to take a chance, but you’re probably going to be in the mess either way. There were a lot of different strategies going on, and unfortunately, I just got caught up in the mess twice and the second one was enough to end our day. I saw them getting together and crashing. Obviously the straightaway has so much banking here that everything slides to the bottom and that’s where I was. I was trying to work my way back up the hill and I ran into a wall of cars sliding down the track. It’s just part of it.”   Ty Dillon, No. 10 Kaulig Racing ChevroletFinished: 15th “It was a fun day for the No. 10 Patriot Mobile Chevrolet team, being in the top-10 for a lot of the race. We were really competitive too, so I think we learned a lot about ourselves and learned a lot about our race car and some of the things we need to keep focusing on. I think we found some things the past couple of weeks that have been good adjustments for us throughout the weekend. We just need to start on the right foot a little bit quicker, but everyone on this team is really resilient and that was a great All-Star Race for us.”    AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Kaulig Racing ChevroletFinished: 12th“We knew it was going to be an uphill climb for the No. 16 Celsius Chevrolet team with starting last. I thought we had okay speed in the first segment, but we just couldn’t ever get around the right guys. We were decent there in the end. We were lucky to get through that wreck with minor damage. We had some nose damage that probably hurt the car, but when we restarted up front there, I thought we had good speed. I was able to run with the No. 45 (Tyler Reddick) for most of that run, so that was pretty cool. Overall, proud of the effort to get into the final segment. I thought we made the most out of it that we could. We know the areas we lack and it shows up in traffic, especially, and on the long runs.”    Michael McDowell, No. 71 Spire Motorsports ChevroletFinished: 8th“It was an up-and-down day for this No. 71 RCA Chevrolet team, but glad to make the big show. We dodged some carnage there early. We had a little bit of damage, but we overcame that. We just lost the balance a little bit there at the end. I felt like two runs before the end, we were really good on the long run. And then right there at the end, we were just a little bit too free. But overall, just really proud of the effort and it’s something to build on.”    Connor Zilisch, No. 88 Trackhouse Racing ChevroletFinished: 5th“We needed a day like this for our No. 88 Jockey 150th Anniversary Chevrolet team where we had contending speed. It’s been a long year and the moments of hope like this certainly feel good. I don’t really know what to point our speed to. We still had some balance issues, but just the potential was there. We had potential in our race car. Everyone at Trackhouse Racing has been working really hard to get that and make it to where, even on the bad days, we’re still running decent. I feel like we had that today. We had potential and, honestly, room to grow. Just really proud of everyone on this team. It was a big rebound from qualifying yesterday. I knew it was a long race, and I knew we had to get inside the top-26 there to try and give ourselves a chance in the invert. We drove up to 11th in the first segment and continued to move forward in the second segment. That’s when I really started to realize that we had a shot. It was cool to be on offense, have good restarts and not feel like a fish out of water.”

FOR SCRUFFY: Schuchart Bests Bacon for Emotional Eldora Triumph

The Series veteran snaps nearly a year-long winless drought in another thriller at the “Big E”

ROSSBURG, OH (May 16, 2026) – It’s been a trying time for Logan Schuchart.

Last fall dealt a huge personal loss when his grandfather and Shark Racing leader, Bobby Allen, suddenly passed away. But he was so much more than a relative and team owner. He was Schuchart’s mentor. He helped him in so many areas of life beyond his efforts in lifting his grandson to the top level of Sprint Car racing.

Losing Allen came amid a tough time on the racetrack for Schuchart. He hadn’t won in over four months at the time, and that carried over into May of this season. But on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway, Schuchart finally scored an emotional triumph in the Shark Racing No. 1S in honor of his grandfather.

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars contested the #LetsRaceTwo presented by LGMG finale, and Schuchart put on a show with Brady Bacon. The two swapped the top spot several times in a duel that didn’t disappoint. Schuchart finally managed to wrestle the lead away and fend off a late run from Rico Abreu to grab the checkered flag.

“Man, that guy (Bobby Allen) won the first World of Outlaws race here back in 1978,” a choked up Schuchart said. “This one feels a lot different, but I’m super happy for my team, everybody that’s working so hard at this… We’ve been working at it hard. Like I said earlier today, I knew the statistics weren’t there, and you always get the chatter, ‘What’s going on? Get back to the basics.’ But the truth is what we used to do doesn’t work anymore. We’re working at it, and that’s definitely the best I’ve felt on a slick Eldora in many years. I’m really happy with this thing.”

Schuchart’s win snapped a 64-race winless drought and moved up his career tally with the World of Outlaws up to 45. The Hanover, PA native has now won seven times at the “Big E” including five in action with The Greatest Show on Dirt. That puts Eldora atop the list of tracks where he’s been to Victory Lane most often. He also extended his active streak to 11 consecutive seasons with at least one win.

Rico Abreu finished second to cap a strong weekend for he and the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team after winning Friday’s #LetsRaceTwo presented by LGMG opener.

Brady Bacon came home third after leading 15 laps in the TKH Motorsports No. 21H. The Broken Arrow, OK native nearly swept the night, topping the USAC National Sprint Car portion of the event before the World of Outlaws podium.

Emerson Axsom and Sheldon Haudenschild completed the top five.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 16, 2026) – The rolling Briar Bauman (No. 3 Super.com/RWR Harley-Davidson XG750R) upped his win streak to three with yet another dominant outing, the latest coming at the Budds Creek Half-Mile in the inaugural Parts Unlimited ThrottleFest presented by Carter CAT, Round 6 of the 2026 Progressive American Flat Track season, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing.  The Main Event of the four-day event hosted by Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland, was expected to be a showdown involving Bauman, reigning Grand National Champion Dallas Daniels (No. 1 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07), and Mission AFT SuperTwins points leader Kody Kopp (No. 12 Latus Motors Racing Harley-Davidson XG750R).  And arguably it was, in a sense, albeit one effectively decided in the opening seconds of the race.   Bauman and Daniels went elbow-to-elbow as they disputed the holeshot. Bauman ultimately had the superior positioning aboard his Rick Ware Racing Harley-Davidson XG750R, which not only forced Daniels to accept second but resulted in him getting shuffled back to third by an opportunistic Chad Cose (No. 49 PRO Roofing/Parker Racing Yamaha MT-07).  The Estenson Racing Yamaha ace would spend the next six minutes attempting to uncover a path back around Cose. And by the time he finally managed to do so, Bauman was more than three seconds clear at the front.  Bauman negotiated his way through heavy traffic over the final couple of laps, allowing Daniels to slash the deficit down to 2.208 seconds, but the outcome was never truly put in doubt.  After Daniels worked his way past and disappeared in second, Cose shifted his attention to Kopp, who was creeping up from fourth. Despite Kopp’s late push, the Californian held on to the spot by a nerve-wracking 0.210 seconds, securing Cose’s first premier-class podium in eight seasons.  Hunter Bauer (No. 24 G&G Racing Yamaha MT-07) and Aidan RoosEvans (No. 26 FRA Trust Advisors Harley-Davidson XG750R) joined Kopp to put rookies fourth, fifth, and sixth.   Meanwhile, Trent Lowe (No. 48 American Honda/Mission Foods Honda CB750 Hornet), Morgen Mischler (No. 13 IFS Waste Services/D&D Cycles Aprilia Tuareg 660), Cameron Smith (No. 34 Fredericktown Yamaha/Thee Kathy Gray Yamaha MT-07), and Declan Bender (No. 70 Memphis Shades/Vinson Construction Yamaha MT-07) closed out the top ten.  Bauman’s surge has shifted the Grand National Championship outlook, closing the margin separating the top three dramatically in recent weeks.  While Kopp continues to lead with 117 points, Daniels (110) and Bauman (108) are now both well within striking distance in second and third.  After scoring the 37th Mission AFT SuperTwins win of his career, the two-time Grand National Champion said, “There’s something about doing it with a crew you thoroughly enjoy doing it with… We just work at it. We weren’t the quickest all day. We were a bit off. But they turned that thing upside down. I’ll be upfront – we didn’t change a clicker on the motorcycle the last two Nationals except for gearing. And today we threw the toolbox at that thing, and we found it. I’m just proud of my whole Rick Ware Racing team.”  KICKER AFT Singles  It took three starts to make it happen, but Kage Tadman (No. 28 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R) ultimately ripped into the lead from pole position and powered his way to his fourth-career KICKER AFT Singles victory.  The two prior starts were quickly nullified by early-race red flags – both times removing Chase Saathoff (No. 88 1st Impressions Race Team Husqvarna FC450) from the lead and erasing less-than-ideal launches for the otherwise on-form Tadman.  The second of those reds was thrown following a lowside crash on the part of Tarren Santero (No. 75 Roof Systems/Vinson Construction Honda CRF450R), a fall that sparked a chain reaction that also claimed Evan Kelleher (No. 31 Schaeffer’s Motorsports KTM 450 SX-F) and Logan Eisenhard (No. 66 Eisenhard Racing/Pags Powersports KTM 450 SX-F).  Tadman finally nailed the third start and was further blessed with the added good fortune of teammate Walker Porter (No. 10 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R) slotting into second behind him.  Saathoff, meanwhile, was fourth off the line, stashed behind both Turner Hondas and the cagey Trevor Brunner (No. 21 KMA Racing/March Equipment Yamaha YZ450F).  The race’s drama largely unfolded behind Tadman, who pulled clear at the front.  Saathoff fought his way by Brunner into third and then moved Porter out of the way to seize control of second with just over a minute remaining on the clock. He was then, however – and incredibly – overhauled by Santero, who somehow managed to slash his way up through the field after being forced to the back of the grid due to his earlier crash.  In fact, Santero nearly did the unthinkable, reeling in Tadman from multiple seconds back before at last crossing the stripe only 0.377-seconds off the victory.  A visibly frustrated Saathoff finished third, while Porter regrouped from being punted up the track to claim his second consecutive fourth-place finish.  The triumph marked Tadman’s first to come outside his home state and away from a Short Track venue. He said, “We came out of the trailer perfect. We haven’t really made many changes to the bike today, and we’ve been P1 all day. I can’t thank the team enough – the bike was perfect. The track was so sick too. This definitely feels good. I’m excited.”  Reigning champion Tom Drane (No. 1 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) was unusually quiet en route to fifth.   He was followed by Jack Brucks (No. 113 1st Impressions Race Team Husqvarna FC450), Ryder Reese (No. 41 Fasthouse/Smoking Butcher Coffee KTM 450 SX-F FE), Brunner, Dylan Cunningham (No. 252 Scott Stump/Joel Laub KTM 450 SX-F), and Jared Lowe (No. 63 Big R Racing/Vinson Construction Honda CRF450R), as they rounded out the back half of the top ten in that order.  Despite registering his worst result of the season, Drane still holds a sizable 16-point advantage over Tadman (111-95), with Saathoff and Brunner right there in third (94) and fourth (92), respectively.   AFT ProSport 450  Bayne Nantz (No. 313 Nantz Bros Racing KTM 450 SX-F) became the fourth different rider to claim victory in AFT ProSport 450 action with a wire-to-wire win at Budds Creek.  The AFT ProSport 450 Main packed in significantly more excitement than that brief summary may suggest. Nantz was hounded early by Camlin Durelle (No. 27 Durelle Racing Yamaha YZ450F), who didn’t even plan to enter the qualifying Road to AFT class in Friday’s AMA-sanctioned Mission Foods CTR Showcase Event, and only finished 11th when he did.  But Durelle found his form on Saturday, looking like an early contender for the win before making contact with Nantz’s rear-end. That incident sent him up the track and down the order.  Loic Nadeau (No. 21 Racine Racing KTM 450 SX-F), Adam Costan-Wood (No. 88 Turner Racing Honda CRF450R), and Brody Hanson (No. 99 Hanson Racing KTM 450 SX-F) picked up the chase in Durelle’s absence, transforming the race into a tight four-way scrap for the win.  Silver Dollar winner Costan-Wood dove under Nadeau for second and then attempted to displace Nantz on the final lap with the same maneuver – a plot that came up 0.163 seconds short of success at the checkered flag.  14-year-old Nantz said, “The track changed a lot since the heat. It got a lot more moisture. When I first got on it (for the Main), it was a totally different track. It was tricky at first, but I got it down towards the end.”  Nadeau held on to earn a close third, while Hanson and Matéo Racine (No. 23X Picotte Motosport KTM 450 SX-F) came home fourth and fifth, respectively.    Next Up   Progressive American Flat Track will leave Mechanicsville, Maryland, and go directly to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, for the Appalachian Harley-Davidson Williams Grove Half-Mile at Williams Grove Speedway on Saturday, May 23. DEJORIA WINS ALL-JFR #2FAST2TASTY CHALLENGE, BECKMAN STAYS LOW IN FUNNY CARHart moves up to No. 4, Vandergriff has clutch issue in #2Fast2Tasty final
Joliet, Ill. (May 16, 2026) – An action-packed Saturday afternoon for John Force Racing at Route 66 Raceway cemented a No. 1 qualifying spot for Jack Beckman, produced the thrill of victory for Alexis DeJoria and the agony of defeat for Jordan Vandergriff in an all-JFR Funny Car Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge final, and a last-chance record-setting run for Josh Hart to set up Sunday’s eliminations of the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK. Beckman and the PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car team earned his 34th career No. 1 Qualifier position with Friday’s Q2 run of 3.913 seconds at 329.99 mph and then backed it up in Q4 today with a run of 3.915 seconds at 329.99 mph. It was the 2012 NHRA Funny Car World Champion’s second consecutive Route 66 Nationals low qualifier, having done so last year on his way to earning his 37th Funny Car event win. Beckman will line up against No. 16 qualifier Chris King (4.142 seconds, 266.79 mph) in Sunday’s first round of eliminations. Vandergriff and DeJoria reached the final round of the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge after first-round wins in Q3 against Chad Green and J.R. Todd, respectively. Each had qualified for the event as at least semifinalists in the Southern Nationals two weeks ago. The two cars completed their burnouts and backups but, while DeJoria’s Bandero Café Chevrolet SS Funny Car moved forward to the Pre-Stage line, Vandergriff’s Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car stood still. It quickly became obvious the Cornwell Chevy had a mechanical issue and the decision was made to shut down. DeJoria staged and launched on the single run but the Bandero Café Chevy shook the rear tires almost immediately off the line, coasting to a slow but winning run of 8.301 seconds at 82.43 mph. Vandergriff ended up 10th in qualifying with a run of 3.977 seconds at 325.92 mph. He will meet No. 7 qualifier Chad Green (3.942 seconds, 322.88 mph) in the first round. DeJoria ended up 12th in qualifying with a run of 3.994 seconds at 329.42 mph. She’ll match up against No. 5 qualifier Spencer Hyde (3.930 seconds, 329.26 mph) in Round 1. Hart and the Speedmaster Top Fuel team struggled through the first three rounds of qualifying before firing off the fourth-quickest run of the event, 3.752 seconds at a track record 341.25 mph, in Q4 Saturday afternoon. It was the fastest run of Hart’s career and the first (and only) 340-mph run in Route 66 Raceway history. Hart will face No. 13 qualifier Justin Ashley (3.797 seconds, 332.02 mph) in Sunday’s first round of eliminations. Sunday’s first round of eliminations for the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT. Elimination rounds will be broadcast on FS1 from 5 – 8 p.m. ET. Quote from Alexis DeJoria, Bandero Café Chevrolet SS Funny Car: “We’re finally back to winning. It came at the cost of my teammate and it was a lackluster final but we got the ‘W’ and that’s all that matters. I just had a feeling we were going to win it today. I knew it in my heart. I definitely didn’t expect to win like that. We’ve been really consistent. That last pass was the only time we didn’t get down the track. Getting to bring a win to JFR is huge. Working with John Force is just a dream come true. After going to the finals in Gainesville (at the season opener), I thought for sure we would get a win soon after that, but it took a little longer. We’ve had some ups and downs. Some of the tracks have been pretty tricky. We’ve had to do some pedal jobs. Sometimes you come out on the good side and sometimes you don’t. That’s the challenge of this class and part of what I love about it. We’re just getting started and we’ve got a lot left to show.” Quote from Jack Beckman, PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car: “We earn qualifying points in three out of four runs. We thought we could run an 88 to an 89. All the big hitter cars in front of us weren’t putting up big numbers, and I thought ‘Maybe it’s just not out there.’ I’ll take it. We’re starting out like we did last year. We’re in the yellow hat (No. 1 qualifier), and that wasn’t without its adventures, but it ended up perfectly for the PEAK team. It’s awesome to have all the PEAK employees’ names are on the hood of our Chevy SS so they’re riding with us every run. “Dan and Tim (crew chiefs Hood and Fabrisi) have made great calls all weekend. On three out of the four qualifying runs, we got great data. I think we’re getting our PEAK Chevy back. I think we’re getting to that tune-up zone, getting that margin of error as wide as can be. At this point a year ago, even when we missed it, we were a Top 3 car. But that margin had narrowed a little bit. Hopefully, we’re kind of widening the margins again.” Quote from Josh Hart, Speedmaster Top Fuel Dragster: “I was clapping the whole way during the shutdown. You know, we’ve struggled the last couple of races but you can’t ever lose confidence in your guys, and I have not. John Collins and David Grubnic are amazing. We communicate excellently and all the guys have been doing a wonder with this Speedmaster machine. We just keep picking at it and getting the driver room more comfortable. Everybody’s gelling together properly. So, for Speedmaster and Burnyzz Speed Shop, Bandero, PEAK, Cornwell, everybody that’s supporting this operation, I’m very grateful and very blessed to be in the seat. We’ll keep chasing Sean Langdon’s 345 (mph mark) and we’ll break it.” Quote from Jordan Vandergriff, Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car: “I did the burnout, backed it up, came forward as they were pushing me to line, and stopped at Chris (Cunningham, crew chief). When I went to stage, I let the clutch out to roll forward and there was no movement. So, I got on the radio said, ‘Hey, I got nothing.’ I felt a little push. I think it was Trace (Coe, crew member) who gave me a little push. That’s the only movement I had. I tried to let it (the clutch) out again but it wasn’t going anywhere. It’s terrible because I think we might have had that one. From the thrill of victory to the agony of defeat.”

DEFENDING CHAMPION JASON DIETSCH RUNS TO NO. 1 AT ROUTE 66 NATIONALS IN CHICAGO

CHICAGO (May 16, 2026) — Last year Jason Dietsch ran the table at Rt. 66 Raceway winning two national events in the span of 24 hours. Today the veteran driver from Edgerton, Ohio, ran his Ford Mustang Cobra Jet to the No. 1 qualifier position. Dietsch is No. 1 ahead of current points leader Jonathan Allegrucci and championship contender Scott Libersher’s COPO Camaro at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 Nationals presented by Peak. Dietsch posted his quickest time of the weekend in the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Series in the opening qualifying session with a quickest of the event elapsed time 7.644 seconds at 179.30 mph.

“It was a long day,” said Dietsch, who along with the rest of the class had to deal with a schedule adjustment. “I was ready to go for that last qualifier, and we’ll be ready for first round. My son Taylor isn’t here this weekend, so I have all the good parts this weekend. I had to leave him at home, so I could try to get a win.”

Through two qualifying sessions Dietsch and the rest of the class had to adjust to changing weather conditions. In the final qualifying session the full field of COPO Camaros, Dodge Drag Paks and Mustang Cobra Jets stepped up their respective performances wowing the packed grandstands. Early in the session David Davies II ran his Dodge Challenger Drag Pak to a solid jump from No. 13 to No. 9 with a quicker 7.751 at 178.78 mph run from his previous quickest of 7.814 seconds at 174.84 mph.

Doug Duell and his Dodge Drag Pak stepped up from 7.772 seconds at 172.92 mph to 7.757 at 178.40 mph to go into eliminations as the No. 10 qualifier. Lee Hartman, who is looking for his first race win, matched his quickest time of 7.694 seconds in Q3, which was quickest of the session. In the final pair it was Allegrucci beside Dietsch in a possible preview of a final round match-up. Allegrucci posted an impressive 7.697 seconds at 178.95 mph pass door to door with Dietsch’s 7.699 seconds at 178.54 mph run.

“I mean that last run was pretty good,” said Dietsch. “We knew the air wasn’t as good as before, so we weren’t going to run as quick. We went out there and ran almost identical times, so it’s pretty cool. I hope it’s like that in the finals. I need to get a win badly. I want one of those new Diamond Wally’s. They’re pretty sweet.”

Kim Shirley will race No. 2 qualifier Allegrucci, who will be trying to defend the $1,000 Flexjet Bounty, in the first round. Allegrucci won the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte and is looking for his second win in a row and the chance to double the bounty at the next race.

BIG E BRAWL: Abreu Emerges Victorious from Wild Four-Leader Eldora Thriller

The St. Helena, CA native bags his 14th win at “The Big E” after a fierce battle with two fellow Californians

ROSSBURG, OH (May 15, 2026) – Rico Abreu did a little showing off for his boss on Friday night.

The 34-year-old’s career took a major step forward when he joined forces with Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing ahead of 2026. Abreu merged his already top-tier team with one of the most accomplished organizations in Sprint Car racing history.

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series rolled into Eldora Speedway on Friday for the #LetsRaceTwo presented by LGMG opener, and it just so happens that “Smoke” owns Eldora. It marked Abreu’s first visit to the “Big E” since connecting with TSR, and the team didn’t let Stewart down.

Abreu came out on top of an absolute brawl at the historic 1/2 mile. Brian Brown narrowly led the opening lap before Giovanni Scelzi snatched the top spot on the second circuit. It was Michael “Buddy” Kofoid’s turn to lead on Lap 13 as he moved ahead of Scelzi, and Abreu reeled them both in. A three-car battle broke out that saw Abreu make some wild moves including tapping the wall down the back straightaway at some point. When the fight calmed, Abreu stood atop the leaderboard and motored away to the checkered flag.

“This team, man, these guys,” Abreu said, quick to credit his crew led by Ricky Warner. “I know I talk about them a lot, but they’re the backbone of this sport. We had an unbelievable racetrack, multiple grooves. I was able to just float around the first 10 laps or so of the race and just really dissect my car. I was waiting for a little bit of fuel to burn off so I could be a little more aggressive on the entrance.”

The win pushed Abreu’s total to 22 with The Greatest Show on Dirt, enough to give him sole possession of 30th most all-time. His already impressive Eldora résumé grew as Friday marked his 14th overall score at “The House that Earl Built.” Six of those have come with the World of Outlaws, putting him alongside Mark Kinser and Kerry Madsen for ninth most. Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing has now claimed at least one World of Outlaws checkered flag in 25 seasons.

Kofoid brought the Roth Motorsports No. 83 home second after leading three laps. They’re up to nine podiums this season.

Giovanni Scelzi rounded out the podium in the Spire Motorsports No. 77. It’s “Hot Sauce’s” first top three with the tour since March of last year.

Aaron Reutzel and Logan Schuchart completed the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

Giovanni Scelzi clocked the Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night.

Pennsylvania Favorites Zarin, Miley Score Connor Bobik Memorial Prelim Wins at Marion Center

MARION CENTER, PA (May 15, 2026) – The western Pennsylvania fans got to see a couple of their own celebrate in Victory Lane on Friday night at Marion Center Raceway.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision contested a pair of split-field, $6,000-to-win Features to open Connor Bobik Memorial weekend, with Pittsburgh-area natives Logan Zarin and Jared Miley scoring the victories.

Feature 1

The front row was occupied by two drivers seeking their first win at the national level in nine-year World of Outlaws veteran Brent Larson and MD3 Rookie of the Year hopeful Logan Zarin. The Hookstown, PA driver powered around the top of Turns 1 and 2 on the opening lap and began using his years of Marion Center experience in local and regional action to build a gap to the field.

It didn’t take Zarin long to reach traffic, but it never became an issue as he sliced his way through the slower cars. By the end of 25 laps, the No. 1Z was all alone at the front of the field as Zarin took the checkers for the biggest win of his career.

The first few months of Zarin’s rookie campaign with The Most Powerful Late Models on the Planet have brought plenty of trying times, but a week in familiar territory has brought some positive momentum. He opened the week with a top-15 run at Georgetown Speedway before finishing in a career-best 12th at Selinsgrove Speedway the night prior to his Marion Center triumph. Now that he’s gotten a taste of victory, he’s looking forward to continuing the chase for his first full-field World of Outlaws victory.

“This is crazy, man,” Zarin said in Victory Lane. “We’ve been getting our asses kicked on the road, but it’s nice to come home and finally get one. I haven’t won a Super [Late Model] race in a long time, so this one’s cool.”

Larson held on for a solid second-place result, while Tyler Erb rounded out the top three.

Feature 1 (25 Laps): 1. 1Z-Logan Zarin[2]; 2. B1-Brent Larson[1]; 3. 1-Tyler Erb[3]; 4. 09-Michael Leach[4]; 5. 19R-Ryan Gustin[8]; 6. 25Z-Mason Zeigler[5]; 7. 9-Nick Hoffman[12]; 8. 28-Dennis Erb Jr[7]; 9. 72-Michael Norris[9]; 10. 48-Colton Flinner[10]; 11. 5L-Jon Lee[11]; 12. 14-Trey Mills[15]; 13. 76-Charles Powell[18]; 14. 29-Ken Schaltenbrand[6]; 15. 55F-Dennis Fenton[13]; 16. 0-Andrew Yoder[16]; 17. 24-Rick Eckert[22]; 18. W3-John Weaver[23]; 19. 6-Matt Martin[17]; 20. 11-Trevor Collins[19]; 21. 44B-Aden Boozell[24]; 22. 28D-Del Rougeux[20]; 23. 55-Chris Schneider[21]; 24. 74X-Ethan Dotson[14]

Feature 2

In Zarin’s three seasons racing with the United Late Model Series (ULMS), one name he battled on the regular was Pittsburgh, PA’s Jared Miley.

The western Pennsylvania regional standout started on the outside of the third row while Ryan Montgomery and Tristan Chamberlain led the field to green. Montgomery cleared Chamberlain through Turns 1 and 2, but Chamberlain got a good run on the bottom exiting Turn 2 to get back alongside Montgomery and slid him into Turn 3 to take the lead.

Once Chamberlain got to the front, he held his own through several restarts until Lap 7, when Miley came knocking. The driver of the No. 10M went to Chamberlain’s outside into Turn 3 and beat him back to the flag stand to take command before the caution came out half a lap later.

“The Jet” held off a hard-charging Dustin Sorensen the rest of the way to win his first Late Model race since a local victory at Marion Center in August of 2025, and his first against the World of Outlaws since his maiden Series win at Port Royal Speedway in 2022.

“Hats off to my brother, he put a great setup under this thing,” Miley said. “It was good from Hot Laps on, it was like, spot on all night, almost. I kind of messed up a little in Qualifying, but the track was kind of how I like it. Right in the middle, we could pretty much maneuver wherever.”

Sorensen came up a few car lengths short in second, while Chamberlain held onto third.

Feature 2 (25 Laps): 1. 10M-Jared Miley[6]; 2. 19-Dustin Sorensen[3]; 3. 20TC-Tristan Chamberlain[2]; 4. 1C-Alex Ferree[8]; 5. 9M-Tim McCreadie[11]; 6. 22*-Drake Troutman[7]; 7. 32-Bobby Pierce[5]; 8. 10*-Levi Yetter[9]; 9. 58V-Daulton Wilson[15]; 10. 12-Ryan Montgomery[1]; 11. 22-Gregg Satterlee[12]; 12. 13X-Kenny Schaffer[14]; 13. HR1-Rodney Phillips[22]; 14. 2P-Skylar Park[20]; 15. 14R-Clay Ruffo[19]; 16. 10-Gary Lyle[23]; 17. 55E-Eli Johnson[4]; 18. 22G-Greg Oakes[18]; 19. 1D-Braeden Dillinger[21]; 20. J4-John Garvin Jr[10]; 21. 7-Ross Robinson[17]; 22. 24W-Tyler Wyant[16]; 23. 36-Paul Kot[13]

UP NEXT: The World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision returns to Marion Center Raceway on Saturday, May 16, for the $30,000-to-win Connor Bobik Memorial finale. More event information can be found by clicking here.

(May 15, 2026) – Jack Beckman and the PEAK SQUAD picked up where they left off last year at Route 66 Raceway with the defending Funny Car champions of the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK taking the provisional top spot after the first day of qualifying. Fast Jack posted a lap of 3.913 seconds at 329.99 mph in the John Force Racing PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car during the day’s second session after a second-quickest run in Q1 of 3.957 seconds at 324.28 mph. Alexis DeJoria posted the 10th quickest Funny Car run of 3.994 seconds at 329.42 mph in the Bandero Café Chevrolet SS. Josh Hart was 12th after Day 1 with a best run of 3.846 seconds at 318.47 mph in the Speedmaster Top Fuel dragster. Jordan Vandergriff, who earned his first career NHRA Funny Car event two weeks ago at the Southern Nationals in the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car, ran the fifth-quickest run of the day in Q2 (3.941 seconds at 328.78 mph) but was disqualified after it was found a parachute pin had not been removed before the run. Vandergriff’s first run, 4.906 seconds at 121.56 mph, placed the team in the 16thqualifying position. Saturday’s qualifying sessions are scheduled for 12 and 2:30 p.m. CT. Both Vandergriff and DeJoria will participate in the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, earned from his victory and her semifinal finish in the May 3 Southern Nationals at South Georgia Raceway in Valdosta, Ga. Sunday’s first round of eliminations is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT. Quote from Jack Beckman, PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car: “That last run was entertaining and scary. It was just a handful but it was entertaining. I hope everybody in the stands was half as entertained as I was. I’m just incredibly satisfied that we’ve got some bonus points so far. The PEAK SQUAD has made two absolutely solid runs, one in each lane. We have great data. We can now afford to push on Saturday and if we push too hard, that’ll teach us something as well. So, it really just sets us up for a lot more race day success.” Quote from Alexis DeJoria, Bandero Café Chevrolet SS Funny Car: “I think it’s a great start to qualifying for the Bandero team here in Chicago. We made it down the left lane in Q1 but I had my hands full at the top end. Everybody knows once you pass the grandstands here in the Windy City, you get a little shifty down track. We managed to keep it in and got down with a 4.01 and then backed it up in the right lane with a 3.99. We have a very consistent car and now we can just step on it tomorrow.” Quote from Josh Hart, Speedmaster Top Fuel Dragster: “I think everybody on the Speedmaster team expects more and it’s going to require a little bit of patience but we’re getting there. It was an A to B run with a surprise at the top, which is not what we wanted. So, we’ll regroup and I have all the confidence in the world that our JFR team will get it figured out. David Grubnic and John Collins are two of the smartest cats you can have in your corner. The guys are doing a great job mechanically so we’ll be fine.” Quote from Jordan Vandergriff, Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car: “We had a mad thrash between Q1 and Q2. We found little oil pressure in our engine during the warmup so we had to swap engines and we really thrashed. This was the Cornwell Tools team’s first real test in a situation like that and we succeeded in that we ran in 3.94. We didn’t even warm the engine up. We just took it to the starting line and ran it but, unfortunately, we were DQ’d because we left a parachute pin in. It was a learning experience that we’ll take into tomorrow and regroup.” TV ScheduleTelevision coverage on FS1includes qualifying on Friday, May 15, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. ET, a second qualifying show on Saturday, May 16, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET, and the eliminations broadcast on Sunday, May 17, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. ET.

CHEVROLET IN THE NTT INDYCAR SERIES
Indianapolis 5002.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval Speedway, Indiana Fast Friday Report May 15, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (May 15, 2026) – Scott McLaughlin and his No. 3 Pennzoil Team Penske Chevrolet were the quickest car and driver combination on the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval on Fast Friday. On a day that the turbo-boost was cranked up from 1.3 to 1.5 bar and laps without the aid of another car were the name of the game, it was the “Yellow Submarine” and McLaughlin that set the pace. The 2024 pole-winner went 232.674mph to top the non-tow timesheet (one lap) and 232.572mph over the course of a simulated four-lap qualification run.
“It’s better than going upside down. That was the last time I was here on this boost level. I’m really proud of the execution. The Pennzoil Chevy was solid. The guys (Malukas and Newgarden) ran before, so we sort of knew what the balance we needed to hit, so we got a really good test point there for the team. We’ll go back and scratch our heads a little bit more. It’s only going to get harder as the weekend goes on. It’s going to get hotter and with rain coming as well. We’ve got to make every run count, and I felt like that was my best run of the weekend. Really happy to do that at that boost level.”

THE MODERATOR: Alexander Rossi in the No. 20 Java House Chevy for ECR. Set to qualify for his 11th 500 this weekend. Second quick today. Sixth on the no-tow. THE MODERATOR: Sixth fastest on the no-tow.Alex, your thoughts on the day today? You guys ready to go for the weekend?
ALEX ROSSI: Yeah, it will depend on what we get weather-wise, right? That’s the name of the game around here. We’ve run a lot this week. We must have done the most laps because I can promise you we are behind everyone on the amount of tires we have, but that’s okay. THE MODERATOR: Questions.
Q. You feel okay over your engine?ALEX ROSSI: I never felt bad with my engine. We didn’t change it, because DOP. We changed it because the hybrid broke on Saturday. Q. We’ll just leave it at that.ALEX ROSSI: Yep. Q. The all-important question: How your four-lap sims?ALEX ROSSI: Pretty good from our side. I think we — our biggest issue last year in qualifying was we had quite a bit of fall-off from one to four, and that was a big focus to try and figure that out without giving up too much of the pop on the first lap or two. So we were pretty content with how that went.
It’s obviously going to be condition-dependent and choosing the right package for those conditions, but that’s what much smarter people other than me, that’s what they are for. I can’t even put a sentence today, so Lord knows I couldn’t choose a downforce level.
Yeah, I think we’re in a good spot on the 20 side. Q. You talked about how you’ve run the most laps this week, Alex. Why is that? What has been the emphasis of being out there so much?ALEX ROSSI: Really just because it’s been such a variance in conditions, so really trying to put ourselves in all of the different scenarios. Race running in the hot. Q-sims in the hot. Race running in the cold. Q-sims in the cold.
Like, you look at Sunday’s weather for a week from race day, and like, it looks potentially kind of cool and overcast, but earlier in the week it was looking pretty warm. It’s just one of those months in Indianapolis where, you know, you get two or three days of consistency, and then it flips on its head.
So just to be out there running so that you know what to expect when it comes, and you’re not surprised by anything.

SUMMER MADNESS: Hell Tour’s 40th Anniversary Season Begins June 9

CONCORD, NC (May 15, 2026) — The 40th anniversary season for the DIRTcar Summer Nationals kicks off in under one month’s time, saluting four decades of history, tradition, and the most intense dirt track racing grind in the country.

A fully loaded schedule of 33 Late Model races in 34 days presents one of the most grueling schedules in Hell Tour history. Starting June 9 at Brownstown Speedway, the tour will also venture to two brand-new tracks — Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway and Camden Speedway — plus three tracks not seen on the docket in over 30 years — West Liberty Raceway, Farmington Empire Speedway, and Windy Hollow Speedway — before wrapping up at Wayne County Speedway on July 12.

A $150,000 points fund will be paid out weekly — $10,000 to each week’s points champion, followed by checks for the rest of the top 10. The top 10 drivers in overall Summer Nationals points after the final event of Week 5 will receive bonus checks, including $10,000 for the 2026 champion.

The DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals is also set to embark on its 16th consecutive season of competition with a slate of 27 races in the same 34-day span as the Late Models, culminating with Race No. 28 and 29 in the 36th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway, July 24–25. This two-day event, running in support of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision, pays $5,000 to Saturday night’s main event winner and will feature the crowning of the 2026 champion, also worth a $5,000 check.

Last year, Jason Feger ruled the Late Model circuit with five Feature wins, 13 top-fives and 21 top-10s in 26 starts, outrunning 2024 champion Tyler Erb by only 71 points in the final standings to claim his second career Summer Nationals championship and first since 2010. A slew of new faces made up the full-time roster last summer as well, stacking the roster to 11 drivers which included Feger and Erb, Dillon McCowan, Mark Whitener, Trey Mills, Tyler Millwood, Christian Hanger, Brendon and Brody Smith, Clay Stuckey and Thomas Hunziker.

The Modified championship was won by Tyler Nicely, who captured the crown for the second time in three years. In only 14 starts, the Kentucky native scored eight Feature wins, 12 top-fives and 12 top-10s to finish 67 points ahead of runner-up Trevor Neville.

For 2026, DIRTcar is honoring Summer Nationals history every week leading up to the kickoff at Brownstown with special featured articles and an all-new, six-part docu-series exclusive to DIRTVision subscribers. Hell on Dirt: The DIRTcar Summer Nationals premiered on May 5 and launches a new episode every Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET, featuring Hell Tour legends Billy Moyer, Shannon Babb, Bobby Pierce and Brandon Sheppard, plus the full-time drivers of the 2025 season.

DIRTVision will be streaming every race of the 2026 DIRTcar Summer Nationals and Summit Modified Nationals live to your devices — subscribe today for $39 per month or $299 for a full year.

You have a practice session coming up. What’s the simulation told you? What types of things are you conscious of? I know you don’t have a lot of years with this generation racecar, but there’s changes with it. Just what’s your expectation for this practice session and what are you looking for?“Yeah, it’s definitely going to be interesting. We have resin all the way across the racetrack, and then we have the low downforce package with the Cup car. Certainly, there’s a lot of things for drivers to learn, but it’s going to be good for me to get an hour and a half of practice, two sets of tires, have some time to go out and figure things out. I’m looking forward to it.”   To that point, you don’t have a lot of preconceived notions about what this place should be with a Cup car, and then you throw in the rules change and the resin. Is it easier for you in that regard in that you don’t have anything you have to override in terms of what you think this place should be?“Yeah, I mean certainly, I don’t have any previous experience. While I’m figuring it out, so will everybody else. But yeah, it doesn’t hurt me to have no experience, especially when we have rules changes like this. But at the end of the day, our job is to drive a car fast no matter what’s given to us. So yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing what it does.”  I’m sure growing up you have memories or fond memories of watching All-Star races over the years. And I’m curious, how much do you feel like, regardless of where it’s held or what the format is, how important is it in your mind that we have some sort of event like this that’s just different than the standard 36 races?“Yeah, I mean I definitely think it’s important to have something with an unique format to give people something to look forward to. We have a very long schedule, and I think that after 36 weeks in a row, it’s good to have at least a weekend where we switch things up and do something different. I always appreciate that the pit crews get a chance to show their talent and have a chance to win some money. Yeah, it’s good for everybody.”   Today, you have more practice, I think, than just about any other race this year. It actually may be number one. Non-points race, Dover’s so unique. But is there anything you can take from being in the car this long that you guys are looking to try to glean from it and maybe learn from other racetracks?“Yeah, 100%. It’s not often we get a session where we can go out and change things and try and do things differently with the racecar. I mean, especially at a track like this where it’s okay to make multiple runs on tires, I feel like you’re able to do that a little better here, and places like Bristol, some of those higher-grip tracks with less fall-off. So, yeah, it’s certainly important to try and utilize them as best as possible. You don’t get them very often, so you should try and make the most of them when you have them.”  Do you have any guesses for what the resin is going to do throughout the course of the weekend? Is there any sense on your team of like — alright, it’ll probably start as this, then it’ll go to this, or is everybody in a guessing game?“I don’t think we’ve done this, so it’s kind of a lot of guesses. It’s very hard to say what we expect, but I think the track’s going to widen out. I think you’re going to get guys running all over the place. I hope that makes the racing product better. I hope we’re not too stuck to the track that it becomes slot cars and we’re just ripping around at really high pace. But I think it’s very hard to say what it’s going to do. So, yeah, it’s certainly going to be different, though.”  Last weekend when you talked to everybody, it was fresh off Jesse Love’s heartbreak. Doubling back with him during the week, did you feel like you could have a conversation about it, or was it was still so raw that you’re not there yet, friend-wise?“I think it’d be different if I wrecked him, then I think it’d be a little tougher to have a conversation. But, I mean, I did nothing wrong. So, yeah, we hung out on Monday and everything was normal. It’s kind of just something you’ve got to expect when you’re friends with the guy you’re racing against, is that you’re not going to be friends on the track, and you’ve just got to separate the two as best you can. It happens, right? That’s our sport. That’s part of it. We race each other hard on the weekend, but when it’s time to be friends away from the racetrack and put racing to the side, we’re able to do that.”

I was just curious about your Twitch stuff lately. Since the win, have you noticed any increase in the amount of people on your streams, or can you see an uptick in the amount of interaction you’re getting just even the last month or so?“Yeah, I have. I think I average a few hundred more viewers. Every post is up. The truck win, alone, on Instagram almost got like a million interactions. But yeah, I’ve definitely seen an uptick for sure, on all platforms really, which is obviously good for everybody. But yeah, I still get people that chat the first time because it kind of says it’s their first time chat. And they’re still like, congrats on Talladega. I was like, man, it’s kind of wild. It’s been like three weeks or whatever already. But yeah, there’s been growth of it, for sure.”    At this point, how much of it is you’re just going on there to have fun, versus like, hey, I’m really trying to actively grow my brain to be intentional about it and talk to people? Where’s the balance there?“I do enjoy it. I don’t have my property done yet. I want to drive cars, race with my friends and enjoy it. I can only do that online right now, like Monday through Friday. So yeah, I just enjoy streaming. Before when I clicked the Live button, if I wasn’t racing, the viewers would drop a lot. But now, I can just sit there with my webcam on and yap about food or whatever I want to talk about. There’s like probably 1,500 people on Twitch and there’s probably 2,000 on TikTok. I found the mod on some game that I can run Cleetus’s racetrack. I have someone I know that’s creating Crown Vic with nitrous, so we’re going to race that. We have other stuff we’re going to do. But we’re all just reminding ourselves of what we used to do eight years ago in COVID times… we find all these weird games and race, and there’s a ton of people watching.  So yeah, I kind of use a collective ‘we’ because a lot of my friends, they do content creation and everything. We enjoy when the numbers are higher, obviously. But honestly, we’re just realizing that it’s not going to really drop, and the more fun we have, we tend to see it go up. So yeah, it just makes us all really excited for when I can start doing stuff away from my desk and everything. I think that’s how you grow everything nowadays.”    I know you were at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week. When I was covering the F1 Miami race, people were talking about you there. How much from inside the industry has your victory at Talladega really something that you’ve felt?“Yeah, I mean, I just don’t know how many normal winners get congratulated on pulling off a celebration rather than just the win. I got it today at the airport. They handed me something to sign, and they’re just like, man, I love the celebration. They’re not saying, congrats on the win or anything. It’s just like, man, I love that celebration and everything. I walked around Indianapolis and everybody kind of said the same thing. When I was at the Met Gala, I got asked how many people knew who I was. I was like, I honestly don’t think a lot of them really knew that I was a NASCAR driver. They just knew that they saw me on their phone and they recognized me from Talladega. They just happened to see it on their feed.  So I think that’s the biggest thing, the algorithm now is kind of where you get every source of news and everything, right? So if it crosses everybody’s algorithm, they’ll see it at some point and have a little bit of recognizability. So yeah, I think that’s been the most interesting part for me is realizing how many people at least saw it. When they’d see me before, it used to be just like, oh, he drives the Chili’s car. Now it’s like, oh, he rode on the door at Talladega. So yeah, it’s been very fascinating.”  I wanted to ask you about coming here for the All-Star Race. I’m assuming that the momentum that you’re feeling, both the team doing so well but yourself, this is a great opportunity for you to become an All-Star Race winner. Could you just kind of talk about your thoughts on Dover and this race and kind of the ride you guys are on right now?“Yeah, for us, the places that you have to keep the throttle down tend to be good for us. This package has been good. Darlington’s so different, but we finished fourth. There were some others that we ran pretty decent with this package, as well. So I feel good about it. To come to a track with where we’re at and how we’ve been doing, we’re pretty confident. And for the race tracks we’re going to after this, we feel really good about them, so we’re just excited to kind of get this one going. There’s not points on the line that we’re worried about. You’re just worried about if you get a million bucks or not. We’re going to just try and swing for the fences and enjoy it.”    The All-Star Race weekend, everybody always talks about location, the format and stuff. So I’m just curious — One, where would you like to see the All-Star Race, kind of be at in terms of tracks? And two, do you have a format that you’d like?“Bowman Gray would be really fun. I think that’d be super cool for the All-Star Race. It’d be a little warmer, too, than the Clash. But that’d be my vote of places that doesn’t have a points race right now.   I don’t know the best format. I am going to miss the fact that the Open doesn’t really exist right now, just for the fact of I was excited to watch it and not be in it. I’ve been in it the last two years, and I was like, man, I get the satisfactory of being able to watch the Open. And I’m like, dang it, I don’t even get that satisfaction of being an All-Star… they’re going be racing with me (laughs). But it’ll feel good when those cars get eliminated at least and we get to stay out there. But it’s something different. I think it would be kind of funny — joked about it, of something like an Australian pursuit-style, where you take qualifying, flip it backwards, invert the whole field, and if you get passed, you’re done. We did that at Kalamazoo Speedway, and it was maybe one of the most fun races I’ve watched. Or they had to do a drive-thru and get to come back out, and they were well behind, so you get the advantage of being up front. But if you’re out back, you’re going to struggle. They would basically, every five laps, if you lost a position, you got either eliminated or you had to do a drive-thru. I think that would be really interesting. It would probably be making it more complicated for the fans, which we don’t obviously want to do. But I think it’d be very interesting. I know the Stoops Pursuit at the BC39 was maybe one of the greatest races we’ve ever seen and they used that format.”

Seth Bergman’s Early Bounce Back Has Him Set For 2026 ASCS Title Fight

CONCORD, NC (May 15, 2026) — Seth Begman knew after the first weekend of the 2026 American Sprint Car Series season that he needed a refresh.

The 2024 Series champion struggled out of the gates at Volusia Speedway Park in his debut appearance in the 55th Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals. Through three 360 Sprint Car Features, Bergman’s highest finish was 15th, missed the Friday Feature, and left the Barberville, FL 1/2-mile sitting 18th in points.

“We didn’t get off to the start we had worked or hoped for at Volusia,” Bergman said. “I knew never being there before was going to be a challenge, but I didn’t think we’d be as far off as we were. I unloaded expecting to be close, and we just struggled all weekend with the car. We couldn’t find the right balance. It turned out to be a frustrating weekend, but that’s how it goes.”

When Bergman returned to his Oklahoma-based race shop, he went back to work in his efforts to turn the early momentum back in his direction for Central Arizona Speedway’s Sonoran Clash

“We came back to the shop and really went back to the drawing board,” Bergman said. “We were trying to figure out why we were awful, basically, and what we could do to make sure that doesn’t happen again moving forward. It’s been an ongoing thing now; I’ve openly been struggling with getting our cars right to where we’re fast all night, both qualifying good and racing good.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time in the shop with the guys, putting thought into what’s going on. Why the cars are doing what they’re doing, and making sense of it all with tires, chassis, engines, wings, suspension. We put a lot of time in the shop, and we’re making headway, but we’re not able to do that unless we’re at the track getting the raw data and feedback. Overall, though, it’s been helpful for us.”

At Central Arizona, Bergman got his points campaign back on the right path with three consecutive top-10s, then capped off the Saturday finale with a fourth-place result.

When the Series crossed paths at Salina Highbanks Speedway in April, the Snohomish, WA native scored his first podium of the season, finishing third after starting the 25-lap Feature in 12th. Instead of returning to his familiar notes from past seasons, Bergman has been writing a new notebook to get a handle on his No. 23 Triple X Chassis.

“I wish we could fall back on the old notebook because that’s what I was trying to do for a while,” Bergman said. “It wasn’t working and seemed like we were getting worse by doing it. The sport progresses, and the tires have changed, so it makes a huge difference in today’s age of racing. I had success running my cars a certain way. We were competitive everywhere, winning races, and saw no reason to change.”

“Then, it started to change, you start to struggle, and you can’t understand why, because you’re not doing anything differently. It’s really been about not going back to the old notebook and creating a new one instead. Recently, I think the results are starting to show, and we feel pretty good about the progress we’ve been making so far.”

Bergman’s encounter with Benton Speedway in 2024 left him with a seventh-place result, but issues with title contender Sam Hafertepe Jr. helped propel him with a healthy points gap for his first Series title.

Returning to the track two years later, it was an opportunity for Bergman to continue rising the ladder as he entered the night sitting fourth in the standings. Rolling off from fifth for the 30-lap Feature, Bergman steadily worked his way through the top five to take the high-point position from Hafertepe after he collided with a lapped car with five laps left, culminating in Bergman’s 27th career National Tour victory.

“Last time we were there, I struggled,” Bergman said. “We ran seventh, but I was not good at all. So, to go back and win was a huge turnaround. It speaks even more to what we’ve been doing lately, so winning the race was a huge morale booster, and it shows the work we’ve been putting in is pointing us in the right direction.

“We weren’t great when we showed up, but we kept working on it all night to get to where we were competitive, or in the fight at least. It’s tricky, tight, and easy to make a mistake, especially when you’re in traffic. There’s a lot going on, because when you’re in the moisture, it’s tacky. But, the second you get out, it’s slick, the tire spins easily, and you get unsettled. It was unfortunate for Sam (Hafertepe), but we were right there trying to keep ourselves out of trouble, and we were able to do that.”

When Bergman travels to Salt City Speedway at the end of the month, it will be his first time visiting the Kansas State Fairgrounds half-mile. Despite the rough debut at Volusia, he knows that he finds comfort faster around bigger tracks than smaller ones.

“If anything, Volusia was just a big learning experience,” Bergman said. “But, it was kind of unique itself because you get around there a bit differently than other places. I know what didn’t work then, and I know how we need to be rolling now.

“Honestly, with the balance and the way we roll our race cars right now, I envision us struggling more at the small places versus the big places. So, I feel like when we get there (to Salt City), we’re going to be up to speed, and I expect to race for wins.”

Bergman will chase down a 66-point gap on Hafertepe for the points lead when the Series makes the stop in the “Sunflower State” at Salt City Speedway on Saturday, May 30.

O’Neal Captures High Bank Heist Opener at Eagle Raceway

O’Neal Captures High Bank Heist Opener at Eagle Raceway
EAGLE, NE (May 14, 2026) – Current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points leader Hudson O’Neal of Martinsville, Indiana charged from the seventh starting position to capture his fifth Series victory of the 2026 season Thursday night during opening night of the Malvern Bank High Bank Heist at Eagle Raceway. O’Neal collected $10,000 for the win, which also marked his 13th overall dirt late model victory of the year. Ricky Thornton Jr., who started 15th, earned Hoker Trucking Hard Charger honors as he rallied to finish second. Brandon Sheppard, fresh off last Saturday’s victory at Fairbury Speedway, rounded out the Big River Steel podium in third after starting 10th. Max Blair finished fourth, while Jonathan Davenport completed the top five. Brandon Overton led the opening 17 laps of the 40-lap main event before Garrett Alberson briefly took over the top spot for three circuits. Overton regained the lead on lap 21 and appeared poised for victory until O’Neal began closing rapidly in the closing stages. O’Neal completed the winning pass exiting turn four on lap 30. Overton remained second until lap 34, when a flat left rear tire forced him to the hot pit. After changing the tire, Overton returned to finish 16th after leading 27 laps. The win marked the 39th Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory of O’Neal’s career and his second triumph at Eagle Raceway, having also won during the Series’ inaugural visit to the track in 2024. “I felt like we were pretty good all night,” O’Neal said in Lucas Oil Victory Lane. “The top was dominant early, and it was hard to make time on the bottom. Once the track started moving around, though, I felt really good down there. Overton was definitely better around the cushion, but once the bottom came in, I just tried to stay patient and wait for my opportunity.” “We finally got a restart where I could get underneath him, and then he had the misfortune with the flat tire. On that last restart, my carburetor stumbled a little bit and I thought everybody was going to pile into me. I’m sorry if anybody got caught up in that.” Thornton, who unloaded a backup car after issues surfaced during hot laps, charged from the eighth row to finish just 0.616 seconds behind O’Neal. “I love this place,” Thornton said. “We had trouble with the primary car in hot laps, so we unloaded this one and probably overdrove in qualifying, which made for a long night. But we passed a lot of cars, and the car felt really good.” “Restarts really dictated where you needed to be. I knew Max (Blair) wasn’t going to the top, and if JD left the top open, I was going for it. I got a really good run and just tried not to get stuck following Hud around the bottom.” Sheppard continued his recent momentum with a third-place finish after charging forward from 10th. “Honestly, I felt like we had a really good race car the whole race,” Sheppard said. “I just made a couple wrong moves early—stayed too high too long, then stayed too low too long before halfway. Once everyone started moving around, I could really roll the track and move wherever I needed to. We had a really fast race car tonight.” O’Neal’s winning SSI Motorsports, Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and backed by Big River Steel, Wheeler Metals, Merrill Bonding Company, Professional Concrete Cutting and Drilling, O’Neal’s Salvage and Recycling, Lineal Contracting, Seven Spurs Ranch, Sub Surface of Indiana, Beeman Lumber, Indiana USSSA Fast Pitch Softball, Dicky’s Doghouse, Lucas Oil Products, Penske Racing Shocks, and Sunoco Race Fuels. Completing the top ten were Brian Shirley, Devin Moran, Kyle Bronson, Garrett Alberson, and Dallon Murty. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Race Summary Malvern Bank Presents High Bank Heist | Night 1Thursday, May 14, 2026Eagle Raceway | Eagle, NE Allstar Performance Time TrialsFast Time Group A: Brandon Overton | 13.7022 secondsFast Time Group B: Garrett Alberson | 13.7017 seconds (Overall) Penske Shocks Heat Race #1 Finish (10 Laps, Top 4 Transfer): 1. 76-Brandon Overton[1]; 2. 76N-Blair Nothdurft[2]; 3. 3S-Brian Shirley[5]; 4. 60-Dan Ebert[3]; 5. 6-Clay Harris[4]; 6. 04-Tad Pospisil[6]; 7. 19M-Brenden Smith[7]; 8. 71M-Mike Morton Jr[8] Summit Racing Products Heat Race #2 Finish (10 Laps, Top 4 Transfer): 1. 18-Chase Junghans[3]; 2. 71-Hudson O’Neal[4]; 3. 93L-Cory Lawler[1]; 4. 20RT-Ricky Thornton Jr[5]; 5. 93-Carson Ferguson[6]; 6. 35D-Dylan Sillman[7]; 7. 45D-Dan Battaglia[8]; 8. 15-Clay Stuckey[2]

McCreadie Clears Troutman Late for Sand Hill Showdown Victory at Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE, PA (May 14, 2026) – For the first time in almost four months, Tim McCreadie is back in Victory Lane.

The 2006 champion of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision kicked off the season with a win at Volusia Speedway Park during DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals. Since then, the Briggs Transport Racing team has had several strong nights, but a second win never materialized.

The Watertown, NY native knew that this week’s northeast swing was a prime chance to kick his season into high gear. That’s exactly what happened last year, as he won his first two races of the year at Raceway 7 and Bedford Speedway in the same stretch.

Selinsgrove Speedway in particular has been a strong track for McCreadie, as he won a World of Outlaws race there in 2014 and finished in the top 10 in four of his five previous Series starts. Despite the most recent one coming in 2015, McCreadie picked up right where he left off more than a decade ago when he returned for the Sand Hill Showdown.

A Heat Race victory locked McCreadie into the Redraw, and he turned it into his first Bilstein Pole Award of the season. It was a battle between youth and experience on the front row with McCreadie and Drake Troutman, and although McCreadie led the opening circuits, he surrendered the top spot to Troutman 11 laps in.

After slotting into second, McCreadie never gave Troutman an inch of breathing room. He tried a variety of lines through the corners and briefly got side-by-side with Troutman on multiple occasions, but struggled to find a way by. But with eight laps remaining, McCreadie powered around the top of Turns 3 and 4 to get to Troutman’s outside exiting the corner with enough speed to clear him down the frontstretch.

From that point onward, it was all McCreadie en route to his 41st World of Outlaws win, breaking a tie with Chris Madden for seventh on the all-time list.

“It’s always fun to race back home, close to home,” McCreadie said. “All the people come, lot of Modified people, I know a lot of Sprint Car people too, it’s pretty cool. We don’t get to go to New York where maybe I’d get to have an advantage on these guys. I know I’ve been running these cars 20-plus years, but those tracks up there, I’m really good at. If I ever went up there, I think we’d make some hay. But that’s OK, we’ll take Pennsylvania as a close second.”

Troutman settled for second after leading 27 laps, bringing his total to 99 on the year without a win to show for it. Regional standout Mason Zeigler was third, scoring his best World of Outlaws finish since his runner-up at Path Valley Speedway Park in 2024. Daulton Wilson was the MD3 Rookie of the Race in fourth, while Nick Hoffman finished fifth to regain the points lead by six over Bobby Pierce, who finished 10th.

UP NEXT: The World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision heads to Marion Center Raceway for the Connor Bobik Memorial on Friday and Saturday, May 15-16. More event information can be found by clicking here.

Always a nervous sort of energy before you drop it in qual trim. We’ll find out again tomorrow when we turn up the boost. Overall, the Chevy power feels good and the car feels in a nice spot. NTT INDYCAR SERIES News ConferenceThursday, May 14, 2026Pato O’Ward (w/Helio Castroneves)Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: Pato O’Ward quickest today. Driver of the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. Next Sunday will be his seventh Indianapolis 500. Of course is a two-time runner-up. Finished third here last year. Pato, not only quickest today, but seventh no-tow.And Helio Castroneves, no introduction needed, in 06 Cleveland Cliffs Honda for Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian. The Drive for Five is on. Very quick today, second quick today, and doing it all in group runs as well.
We’ll start with Pato. Tell us about your day. You happy?
PATO O’WARD: It was a smooth day. We got some race running, qualifying simulations in. The car is in a good balance window. Tomorrow when the boosts come up, it does change quite a bit. Yeah, so far it’s been very smooth.

Q.  The hybrid being a little different in terms of are you doing anything different with the strategy? I know some teams are using it on different areas of the track that they may not have used last year?PATO O’WARD: This year we have to because the strategy we used last year was removed from the toolbox by INDYCAR, I believe. Yeah, we’re doing something different. I haven’t really paid attention to what the other guys are doing, but yeah.
Q.  Is it more aggressive the strategy you’re using? Are you doing it in the turns to keep the speeds up?PATO O’WARD: You’re more active for sure. Last year you saw a lot of the cars do one single deploy slowly. This year you see the cars more on double ends of the track.
Q.  For both of you, when you get the extra boost tomorrow, all of a sudden the car is going 10 miles an hour faster. What’s that first sensation like when Turn 1 gets here a lot quicker than it did Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday?PATO O’WARD: What I think is a pretty cool feeling is when you map out from your prep map into the full boost. When you see the data and you just see the thing just skyrocket, it’s really cool. It really is cool.
HELIO CASTRONEVES: I just mentioned to my other guys, like you guys went too fast on the prep. It’s like, no, no, just because tomorrow it’s going to go so much faster.PATO O’WARD: Well, we noticed today is maybe does it over the course of two corners. Isn’t it like half a lap? But tomorrow you’ll go from the start of the exit of 2 to enter to 3 almost like full beans. So it’s cool
Q.  For yourself, Pato, what’s it like having Ryan Hunter-Reay with you on the team, and what does that bring to the team?PATO O’WARD: I’ve really enjoyed working with Ryan. He’s obviously somebody that knows exactly what he wants around here. He’s obviously very well achieved at this track. It’s very interesting to see his point of view and how sensitive he is to certain things that maybe I haven’t been in the past.
So I’m definitely keeping close touch with him and really listening to what he has to say because you got to listen to guys like that, guys like Ryan, Helio. It really is a fine line around here what is fast but also needs to be comfortable in order to either carry a car for 200 laps and/or in qualifying.
Q.  Pato, talking about Felix Rosenqvist, what happened on Saturday in lap 1. You all are obviously good friends. You worked with each other on Day 1 a lot, but getting over that first wreck, how does the conversation with Felix go there? With you all being great friends, of course, off the track.PATO O’WARD: He came to talk to me right after the race, and these things happen. Like I’ll be the last guy that’s going to be like, wow, you screwed up. I can make that mistake very easily as well. You can miss the judging in a braking zone where maybe one side of the car isn’t as hot as the other. It’s so sensitive, especially when you don’t have clean air in your wings. It can get a bit tight.
So I know for a fact he didn’t do it on purpose, and I know he felt really bad about it, but I told him like, man, those things can happen. It probably won’t be the last time that it happens to me regardless of it — that time it was Felix, but I’ve been a pretty good client of turn 1.
I feel like the amount of times I’ve been taken out here in turn 1 at the road course have been more than like all the other tracks combined for some reason. I don’t know, maybe it’s something I’m doing.
HELIO CASTRONEVES: I’ve done it. I know. I’ve done it.
PATO O’WARD: It sucks. You qualify well, and it’s just like, well.
Q.  Just a few for you. Obviously when the hybrid was brought in last year, one of the main concerns was when you were fifth or sixth in the pack, it was quite difficult to overtake. We saw that in the race. There’s been a few changes this year. What are your thoughts when you are fifth or sixth in the pack? Is it a little bit easier to overtake them than it was last year, for example?PATO O’WARD: Still tough. Still very tough, especially if at that point in the race, you will be up against the best four cars. If you’re fifth in line, you’re going to be up against the best four cars in line.
Maybe sometimes you might have one in there that kind of snuck his way in, but at that point — I mean, Helio’s got so much more experience, but from what I’ve seen in the past, like good cars always find their way to being in that fight. Is it much easier? I probably wouldn’t say that it’s changed much. It’s still difficult. I do think the track temp has a big part of what the ability’s going to be behind a bunch of cars. If it gets really hot, I think you will start seeing some cars degrade.
But today it’s just — it’s been too — it’s been beautiful. It’s been beautiful. The track temp didn’t really go above 115, 110. It’s been around there the whole day. Not everybody was doing the race runs when it was that temperature.Just like the car changes so much when you increase the boost, it does change a lot when the track temp goes from 93 to 115 or 120. I would expect it to get harder and harder the hotter the track temp gets.
Q.  We’ve got this updated qualifying format where some cars could run up to four times possibly depending on how they run. I want to get your two thoughts on the format. Are they in position to qualify in potentially difficult positions considering you have to use a different set of tires and do more running?HELIO CASTRONEVES: I’m still trying to understand the qualifying to be honest.PATO O’WARD: I thought it only changed — wait.HELIO CASTRONEVES: It’s raising from 16 to 33, right?PATO O’WARD: Is there a limit of attempts now?THE MODERATOR: No. Well, on Sunday there are. Sunday you get one shot.PATO O’WARD: One shot at each?THE MODERATOR: Yes, but Saturday is the same.PATO O’WARD: Yeah, obviously you want to get into the Fast 15, right? Fastest 15. But if you’re in the bubble, you’ll probably see what –HELIO CASTRONEVES: It’s 9. You want to be in the fastest 9.PATO O’WARD: No 15 on Sunday.HELIO CASTRONEVES: Well, but the top 9.THE MODERATOR: Are into the top 12 the next day. The top 9 on Saturday are locked into the top 12 on Sunday.PATO O’WARD: So the fastest 15 on Saturday move on to Sunday in a Q1, Q2, Q3 format basically.HELIO CASTRONEVES: Then you have the second one –PATO O’WARD: So all 15 go first and then –THE MODERATOR: No. Six battle for the final three spots in the top 12.PATO O’WARD: So the front guys don’t have to do that again?THE MODERATOR: You’re locked in.PATO O’WARD: How many attempts — if you’re in the fastest 10, how many attempts do you have, two?THE MODERATOR: Two. You get a Top 12 and then Fast 6. We’ll go have dinner. I’ll explain it to you.PATO O’WARD: Honestly, if I’m — just — yeah, just keep going. Just keep going as fast as you can, see where you can go.

Q.  Pato, forgive me if I missed this. Seems like you guys have the car in the right window, 8th on the no-tow, P1 today. I know you worked on some things the past two days to get it up there. Do you think you have it in the right window going into this weekend?
PATO O’WARD: Yeah, yeah, I think we’re definitely in a good — the starting point, I think, has been one of the best balances that I’ve had, at least with the first few qualifying sims we’ve done into a qualifying weekend.
I have had it in the past where it feels good on the low boost, but then you put the higher boost and things do change. We’ll see what we’ve got tomorrow. Hopefully it will be good enough to have our first run in a high boost in the window to just pepper it in a little bit.
Yeah, so far it’s been good and smooth.
Q.  For Pato, we saw today, drivers when they were doing their mock runs, different philosophies on when to engage the hybrid. Do you expect that to be the same on Saturday, or by Saturday will everybody be doing the same thing?PATO O’WARD: I think you’ll see people doing different things. You might see like engine camps doing more similar things. So you might see Chevys doing something similar, and you might see Hondas doing something else.To start off the runs, you probably will see more of a variance, then I think everybody will probably pay attention to what the fast cars are doing, and they’ll probably just apply that.
Q.  Is any part of you getting impatient to get to Sunday?PATO O’WARD: Me?
Q.  Let’s just get this and do this race and see if I can win it.PATO O’WARD: No, I love the whole process. I love the whole month. Like the practice days, going into qualifying, like the whole thing of having qualifying its own weekend, I love that. Like I think it’s a great way for us as well. Like I really enjoy watching as well, and it’s cool to see big runs, big numbers, and then going out there yourself and trying to beat that and match to keep on transferring.
It’s a whole part of the event. I love it.
THE MODERATOR: You get another shot at it tomorrow in practice. Thanks for coming up, guys.

CHEVROLET IN THE NTT INDYCAR SERIES 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbrdige 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval Speedway, Indiana Practice Day (Thursday) Report May 13, 2026 Indianapolis, Ind. (May 13, 2026) – The third day of practice for the 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, the last day before the boost gets turned up for Fast Friday and qualifying weekend, was led by Chevrolet-powered driver Pato O’Ward in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet with a lap at 227.308mph.  It was a smooth day,” said O’Ward after stepping out of the car at the end of the day. “We got some race running, qualifying simulations in. The car is in a good balance window. Tomorrow when the boosts come up, it does change quite a bit. Yeah, so far it’s been very smooth.” On the non-tow timesheet, a lap of 223.378mph during a four-lap qualifying simulation by Scott McLaughlin in the No. 3 Pennzoil Team Penske Chevrolet was the second best and fastest for the Bowtie badged drivers.  “Solid day today in qualifying (trim),” said McLaughlin. “Overall, the Pennzoil Chevy feels pretty strong in race, and now qualifying trim. Always a nervous sort of energy before you drop it in qual trim. We’ll find out again tomorrow when we turn up the boost. Overall, the Chevy power feels good and the car feels in a nice spot. We’ll see what we have come tomorrow.” Joining O’Ward as one of the ten quickest drivers of the day were Alexander Rossi in No. 20 Java House Chevrolet, Sting Ray Robb in the No. 77 Juncos Hollinger – Goodheart Chevrolet, Caio Collet in the No. 4 Combitrans Amazonia Chevrolet, and Ed Carpenter in the No. 33 SlimFast Special Chevrolet.  David Malukas in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, Rinus VeeKay in the No. 76 WedBush – JHR – DRR Chevrolet, Josef Newgarden in the No. 2 Shell Fuel Rewards Team Penske Chevrolet, O’Ward and Conor Daly, in the No. 23 DRR KINGSPAN Chevrolet, joined McLaughlin to make it six of the top ten unaided laps. VeeKay led the way in the speed trap at the Start/Finish line, crossing the Yard Of Bricks at 239.347mph.
