JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S FOR PROS CAMARO ZL1 met with media and discussed the season to date, the hard work and progress, the newly announced All-Star package, working with younger teammates, and more. Full Transcript:

YOU HAVE TWO WINS HERE AT BRISTOL. WHY DON’T YOU JUST TALK ABOUT COMING BACK HERE WHERE YOU ARE THE DEFENDING WINNER?
“I certainly hope to replicate what we did here last Spring; and even last Fall here we had a really strong race. We were competitive and really were able to knock out top 5 finishes here and gain points and get a nice trophy a couple of times. So, I’m excited to be back. This race track is one of my favorite ones to come to. It’s my favorite race track to watch a race here. I’ve been on the good side and the bad side of things that happen on-track, so it’s hard to say. I’ve joked here in the past that I love to watch a race here and don’t necessarily enjoy driving in a race here (laughs). There isn’t another track in the country like this place to get used to it. So, it really does take reps driving here and running here. Some guys have taken to it really quickly. For me, it’s taken some time and it’s been a crazy journey along the way. I love seeing this place packed and the energy that comes with it. So, I’m excited for another fun weekend.”

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 MCDONALD’S CAMARO ZL1, met with members of the media at Bristol Motor Speedway and discussed what it will take to get a Bristol win, his thoughts on the track package at Bristol, how much he pays attention to the NASCAR news cycle and many other topics. FULL TRANSCRIPT:

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO BREAK THROUGH FOR A WIN HERE AT BRISTOL?
“I don’t know. I think we or I and or team have to get better when the track kind of changes from the first half of the race into the second half. It seems like every time I’ve been here, whether it’s Xfinity or Cup I can pretty much dominate the first half and then I guess I come back to everybody else. And it seems like I always make mistakes on pit road and stuff like that. Just got to clean it all up and that will give me a better shot at getting a win here. And then you’ve got to get somewhat lucky being in the outside lane to restart. But, yeah, Bristol is my favorite track and I always get excited to come here, so really looking forward to the weekend.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Bristol–Kyle Larson

Bristol Motor Speedway is one of only six tracks on the current Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule where Chevrolet has more than 40 victories. Chevrolet has visited Winner’s Circle at the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ 45 times, more than any other brand.

CHEVROLET HISTORY MINUTE:
Chevrolet earned their first win at the ‘Last Great Coliseum’ in 1971 with Charlie Glotzbach behind the wheel, the same race Glotzbach set the race speed record at Bristol clocking 101.074 mph average pace throughout the 500-lap event. That record still stands today. Continue reading Chevy Racing–Bristol Advance

CORVETTE RACING AT LONG BEACH: By the Numbers

DETROIT (April 9, 2018) – Corvette Racing and the Long Beach Grand Prix have something in common: each is a constant in their respective fields. Long Beach is America’s longest-running motorsports street race, and Corvette Racing is sports car racing’s longest-running program.

The two will share the stage again this year at next weekend’s Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix at Long Beach – Corvette Racing’s 12th consecutive visit to the 1.968-mile, 11-turn street circuit. No sports car program can claim a streak of appearances of that length at Long Beach – one that stretches back to the team’s first start in 2007 as part of the American Le Mans Series and has continued uninterrupted into the present-day WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Wickens Leads Impressive Honda Effort in Phoenix

Wickens Leads Impressive Honda Effort in Phoenix
• Robert Wickens rebounds for second-place finish at ISM Raceway
• Alexander Rossi charges to third place after early penalty
• Honda drivers claim five of top six finishing positions

AVONDALE, Ariz. (April 7, 2018) – Six Honda drivers led a total of 137 laps in Saturday night’s Desert Diamond Phoenix Grand Prix at ISM Raceway, with Robert Wickens claiming a second-place finish in his first career Verizon IndyCar Series oval event.

A late-race caution, and the resulting decision by some teams to pit for fresh tires while others elected to stay out and maintain their track position, helped determine the final outcome. Wickens, one of the drivers to stay on track, led the field when the green flag flew for the final time on Lap 243, with seven laps remaining. But Joseph Newgarden, on fresh rubber, needed only three laps to pull off an outside pass of Wickens and claim the victory. Continue reading Wickens Leads Impressive Honda Effort in Phoenix

TEAM CHEVY POST RACE REPORT
APRIL 7, 2018

AVONDALE, Ariz. (April 7, 2018) – Josef Newgarden trusted that when his race strategist, Tim Cindric, called him down pit lane – from the lead – under caution with 17 laps remaining in the 250-lap race, that four new tires were going to be the ticket to victory lane.

The defending Verizon IndyCar Series (VICS) champion blended back into the field for the restart in the fourth position. When the green flag flew, he was second by the end of the first green lap and set his sights on the leader. With three laps to go, his four new tires were no match for Robert Wickens as he swept around the outside to take the lead and capture his first win of the 2018 season behind the wheel of the No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet.

“We had everything,” said Newgarden from Winner’s Circle. “We had the whole package, we had the Team Chevy power and we had the fuel mileage from Team Chevy that we needed. It’s great to be able to have Verizon on the car finally and getting victories for them feels so good. This was a Team Penske victory. It wasn’t just me. It was all these guys.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Phoenix Grand Prix–Josef Newgarden

HOW CONFIDENT WERE YOU WITH SEVEN LAPS TO GO THAT THOSE NEW TIRES WOULD MAKE THE DIFFERENCE?
“Well, I was confident in the team. I don’t think I did anything tonight. This was a team victory. They gave me the pit stops, they had the strategy, I was working with rocket scientist on the pit stand – those guys are awesome, but it was a team effort. I wasn’t sure, you know you never know if you make the right call, but they did, they made the right call. It was good we were on the offense. That Firestone rubber is really good when it’s new. It’s good when it’s old too, but I like it better when it’s new. It’s really cool to have Verizon on the car for Victory Lane here.
