JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S PATRIOTIC CHEVROLET SS – POLE WINNER
A WIN AND A POLE, ARE YOU ON A ROLL?
“Yeah, we are. We didn’t have the summer that we wanted, but these guys have been working so hard on the No. 48 team and at Hendrick Motorsports. So, I’m very happy to see the progress and the direction things are going. It’s been a little bit, everywhere. If we keep doing that, we’re going to close this season out just like we want to and be ready for 2016.”

ARE YOU SHOCKED THAT YOUR FIRST POLE COMES AT PHOENIX, THAT’S NEARLY THE LAST RACE OF THE YEAR?
“Yeah, especially at the ‘new’ Phoenix. The ‘old’ Phoenix was great for me. This has been a lot harder. But a big shout out to Lowe’s and Hendrick Motorsports and Chevrolet; and I certainly want to send my thoughts and prayers across the pond to everybody in France.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Phoenix–Qualifying

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 PEPSI CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Phoenix International Raceway and discussed this weekend’s race, if his looming retirement is hitting him yet, his thoughts on racing in the championship finale next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway and many other topics. Full Transcript:

YOU’VE HAD A GREAT CAREER HERE. YOU ARE THE ONE DRIVER THAT HAS PUNCHED HIS TICKET TO HOMESTEAD, BUT A WIN HERE THIS WEEKEND WOULD BE GREAT WOULDN’T IT?
“Oh absolutely. Right now we are all about team building and momentum and confidence. Even though very little that we learn here this weekend, the tire is completely different, the track is completely different, the surface is completely different, it’s still an important race. This track really throughout my whole career has been one that I’ve been consistent at. I’ve never been great here until that last race before they repaved it. It’s a very fun, exciting, challenging racetrack. We are working really hard to try to get another win.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Phoenix–Jeff Gordon

WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO GET YOUR FIFTH WIN IN A ROW THIS WEEKEND?
“It’s just another weekend for us in how you approach it. You want to go out and try to get off to a good start in practice and hope the car is close. And see where the racetrack is and where your car is and where everything is that you might need to make better. It’s a constant evaluation of your racecar and the conditions and the tire and everything to start practice and then adjust from there. And hopefully have some good speed in the car by the time you roll around for qualifying. Really nothing different than any other week.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Phoenix–Kevin Harvick

Full Transcript:

TALK ABOUT THE MOMENTUM YOU HAVE HERE WITH THE STRONG RUNS YOU HAVE HAD IN THE PAST AND WHAT YOU CAN DO TO CARRY THAT INTO A VICTORY AND PUNCH YOUR TICKET TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP FOUR:
“For me I have always enjoyed coming to Phoenix since my childhood. We would come and sit in the grandstands and watch races here in the 80s and 90s. Just the overall feel of the desert Southwest, growing up in Las Vegas you have that feel in the air, the temperature and the way that the asphalt gets really hot and wants to be abrasive to the tires. It’s tough to get a hold of the track and you are sliding all around and it really reminds me of the racing I did as a kid. Maybe that is why Phoenix has been good to me over the years. Just one win, but a lot of good, consistent runs. This is one of those tracks that I look forward to because it’s one of those tracks that you know you can get a top-10 very easily. Now it’s time to parlay that feeling of a good, consistent run into a win. I mean we are in a position where we have to win, it’s what we have to do, and we want a win to move our season into the next race.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Phoenix–Kurt Busch

Brian Scott Finishes 14th at Texas Motor Speedway

In his final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the 2015 season, Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet qualified in the 21st position for the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Multiple tire issues sprung on other competitors during the opening laps forcing early pit strategy and tire management for the 334-lap event. Scott utilized his track-bar adjuster in his Chevrolet to secure his loose-handling conditions around the 1.5-mile speedway. The Boise, Idaho native was racing for position inside the top 10 within the first 50 laps of competition and maintained position in and around the top 10 for in the opening 150 laps of competition. Scott was shuffled to the 16th position after a restart on lap 155. As the laps wound down and the track conditions changed, Scott began to lose overall grip in his Chevrolet. The adjustments on his seventh visit to pit road on lap 198 bettered the handling, but Scott was looking for a little more help with rear drive on the long green-flag runs. The 27-year-old received the help he was looking for under a green-flag pit stop on lap 252 and moved up to the 14th position. Running in the 13th position, Scott fell one lap down to the leader on lap 281. The Shore Lodge Chevrolet team was able to recover that lap by taking the wave around during the caution period on lap 314. With 18 laps to go, the field took the final green flag of the 501-mile race and the No. 33 crossed the finish line in the 14th position.

Start – 21 Finish – 14 Laps Led – 0 Points – N/A

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTE:
“It’s been a fun year in the No. 33 Chevrolet. I have to thank this Shore Lodge team for fighting hard all day long. It’s a good feeling to have two solid top-15 finishes in my final two Sprint Cup races of the season.”
