PORTLAND, Oregon (Sept. 1, 2018) – For the fourth consecutive race weekend, Alexander Rossi led the Honda field in qualifying today for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Portland. Rossi, currently second in the drivers’ championship standings and 26 points behind leader Scott Dixon, will start third tomorrow in the 26-car Verizon IndyCar Series field. “It feels awesome to come out of Darlington Raceway with a top-10 finish and a clinched playoff spot, especially considering last year when I wasn’t able to make a lap during the race due to early contact. My No. 2 Surface Sunscreen Chevrolet Camaro handled better and better throughout this weekend and came into its prime right as I started to figure out how to get around this track. Once I found that, I was able to climb back up from our mid-pack starting spot and into the top 10 by the middle of Stage 2. I have to thank my entire crew, especially my pit crew, today. They were on it today and really helped us gain spots every time we came to pit road. It was awesome to have the Dave Marcis throwback on the Camaro this weekend and so fun to have him out at the track. Hopefully we did him proud!”

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Sept. 1, 2018) — Courtney Force moved up five spots Saturday at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals to lead John Force Racing at the end of two of three days of qualifying. Robert Hight was quickest of a session, Brittany Force improved on her Friday time and John Force will have two more passes to find consistency at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

Points leader Courtney Force and her Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS, who have locked in the No. 1 spot in the Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship NHRA’s six race playoffs, muscled their way through the field with a 3.959-second pass at 325.69 mph that jumped them to the No. 6 spot and earned them an additional four bonus points for being quickest of the session. They started the day smoking the tires to a 4.873 at 162.22 throughout a tricky nitro qualifying session that saw only two Funny Cars make a full pass. Chad Blonde Crowned King Engine Bearings King of Michigan

ERIE, MI (September 1, 2018) –Chad Blonde (Litchfield, Michigan) picked up his third 2018 King Engine Bearings King of Michigan win at Hartford Speedway Friday and wrapped up the 2018 KoM Championship with an exciting 0.177 second win over Ryan Ruhl (Coldwater, Michigan).

The SOD Kids Feature Draw put Shawn Valenti (Fostoria, Ohio) and Mark Aldrich (Addison, Michigan) on the front row for the feature with Blonde, the current SOD point leader, starting sixth. Before a lap could be completed, Michael Schumacher (Constantine, Michigan) brought out the red with a turn three crash. Blonde charged into the lead on lap 2 while fifth starter Ruhl took second on lap four. Ruhl did everything he could to reel in the leader, but Blonde was strong, holding onto a narrow lead as they weaved through lapped traffic and held on to win by less than two-tenths of a second. Both Blonde and Ruhl utilized Krieger Racing Engines powered Maxims.

Zane DeVault (Plymouth, Indiana) led all qualifiers after returning to SOD competition. DeVault picked up his first SOD victory on April 28 at Crystal Motor Speedway before sitting out most of the season due to an injury. For the third time in 2018, Quentin Blonde (Litchfield, Michigan) was the KSE Hard Charger with +7.

As 2018 King Engine Bearings King of Michigan, Blonde will received $1,000 at the Sprints On Dirt Awards Banquet on October 27. Also collecting part of the point fund will be Shawn Valenti, Jay Steinebach, Dustin Shriver, and Ricky Ferkel.

“Well it’s awesome. Obviously, everybody knows what car it is, it’s the 1995 All-Star car that (Dale Earnhardt) Senior ran. It’s super special. Leading up to this point I had talked to a couple of different people what we should do. Dale (Earnhardt) Jr. and I kind of talked about this car and then it kind of came together and American Ethanol, I can’t thank them enough. They have been so supportive of our Darlington schemes and just changing their logos for us to put it however we need it. Pre-Race Report

With all eyes on the prize of getting into the Top 10 of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship, Cruz Pedregon and team have been hard at work to prepare for the upcoming weekend when the Snap-on Toyota takes to the team’s “home track” in Indianapolis. “For us, it really is the ‘Big Go,’ so we’ve set our sights on doing what it takes to make the runs and earn the points we need to qualify,” Cruz says. “We had a major change in the team with the addition of Tommy DeLago before Brainerd, and we’ve made some equipment updates that should pay off for us at this critical point in the 2018 season.”

Crew Chief Tommy DeLago says, “We added a new front half on the primary Snap-on Toyota chassis, and we have a brand new back-up chassis ready to go as we prepare for what is the most important race of the season for us as a team.”

Cruz and team are hosting an open house for fans Thursday in the Cruz Pedregon Racing shop located at 462 Southpoint Circle, Suite A, in Brownsburg, Indiana. Festivities will include food and a tour of the shop, as well as a variety of racing memorabilia, and a Snap-on mobile store. The team also plans to start-up one of the funny cars at the event. ERIE, MI (August 30, 2018) – The Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP 2018 championship points season closes out this weekend with two big races. Tomorrow, Friday, August 31, the King Engine Bearings King of Michigan series concludes at Hartford Speedway. Saturday, September 1, the MAHLE/Clevite Beyonds Limits Challenge concludes at Crystal Motor Speedway with the 5th Annual Mike Olrich Memorial.

Chad Blonde (Litchfield, MI), the 2017 KoM champion, leads the King Engine Bearings King of Michigan Championship, winning the last two KoM races. Blonde leads Shawn Valenti (Fostoria, OH), Gregg Dalman (Bellevue, MI), Dustin Shriver (South Bend, IN), and Tyler Fitzpatrick (Goshen, IN) in KoM points. The 2018 champion will be crowned Friday, and will receive $1,000; the top five will win a share of the point fund. Ryan Ruhl (Coldwater, MI) won the first 2018 KoM race with Blonde finishing second.
