(4/29/24 – Ben Deatherage) Tulare, California …The 900+ horsepower fire-breathing cars and stars of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series are thrilled to return to Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday, May 4th, for the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial! The 1/3-mile clay oval action track in Tulare is renowned for its breathtaking action, lightning-quick speed, and edge-of-your-seat racing.

“We’re really excited to get back to Tulare,” said Chico’s Nick Parker, who is off to a hot start and enters the weekend fifth in the championship standings. “It’s a track we’ve been okay at and struggled at sometimes, but I’m feeling really confident from some of our recent runs and that we continue to build off of our good finishes.”

The Faria Memorial marks the third round of the 65th Anniversary season for the Northern Auto Racing Club. It is the third different venue the popular series has visited in 2024.  The schedule has also endured three rain-outs.

The race is run in memory of two members of the storied Faria family. Chris unfortunately passed away in a farming accident in 1993, and Brian was tragically killed in an automobile crash in early 2006. This will be the first time since 2021 that NARC has been a part of the Faria Memorial.  The companion division for the evening is the Kings of Thunder 360 Sprints.

Championship Chase

Despite still being in the early stages of the quest to become the King of the West, this Saturday kicks off a busy portion of the calendar as it will significantly indicate who will become the frontrunners for the prestigious championship title. It kicks off the meat of the schedule with 16-races in the next 11-weeks.

Cole Macedo will lead the points table entering the Faria Memorial and is batting one-hundred-percent in the win column with NARC by taking care of business at both the Mini Gold Cup and the Asparagus Cup. After spending the last few weeks in the Midwest, the Lemoore racer, in the Tarlton Motorsports #21, recently posted an impressive fifth-place result at West Memphis, Arkansas’ Riverside International Speedway on April 23rd with the High Limit Series and was fourth against the World of Outlaws on April 29th at Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky.

Tanner Carrick, from Lincoln, is the current runner-up in the championship race and trails Macedo by a mere twelve markers. Carrick has posted two Top 10 results in two NARC feature starts and was on the podium with a third-place finish at the new Stockton Dirt Track back in April.

Caeden Steele is the pacesetter in the Class of 2024 rookie race as he sits third in the standings. The Easton driver wowed the crowd at Chico when he was third at the drop of the checkered and is a star on the rise in the Golden State.

2017 champion Bud Kaeding is currently fourth in points and has yet to finish outside of the Top 10 with the series, including a season-best fifth at the Mini Gold Cup. The Campbell chauffeur has managed to score three victories at Tulare over the years when NARC has come to town, with his most recent trip to Thunderbowl victory lane on April 21st, 2018, during the Spring Nationals.

Parker, originally from Tucson, Arizona, has shown moments of brilliance with NARC this year. The 2023 Rookie of the Year scored his first career NARC Top 5 at the Asparagus Cup. After finishing fifth at Stockton, the team is hungry to build on their April performance.

Who to Watch

Justin Sanders hopes to return to his winning ways for the Mittry Motorsports #2X team. The driver from the coastal city of Aromas was third the last time NARC was in Tulare during the Dennis Roth Classic last April. It is one of the few tracks on the schedule that Sanders has yet to win at with the tour, but that stat could easily change.

2021 and 2022 NARC champion Dominic Scelzi is excited to race with NARC for the first time in 2024. After spending the spring months on the East Coast and the Midwest, the Fresno wheelman has a trio of trips to the top of the Tulare podium, with his latest victory coming on May 13th, 2022, on the first night of the Peter Murphy Classic. Scelzi is the most recent victor of the Faria when he hit pay dirt in July of 2021.

Roseville runner Justyn Cox can’t wait to get back to the Thunderbowl. Last year, He captured the $18,383. payday at the Dennis Roth Classic for the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X team, his first career NARC triumph.

Several other Central Valley contenders are expected to be in the house. They include 2019 NARC champ D.J. Netto from Hanford, Lemoore’s Gauge Garcia returning behind the wheel of the Keller Motorsports #2K, Dominic Gorden of Clovis, and Tipton driver Dawson Faria. Netto won this event in 2015.

Other NARC 410 Series regulars in action will include Oakley pilot Dylan Bloomfield in the Vertullo #83V, Billy Aton from Benicia, Penngrove’s Chase Johnson, Chico pilot Michael Ing, and Jarrett Soares of Gilroy.

Also expected to be in action are Fremont’s Shane Golobic, Templeton native Kaleb Montgomery, and Ashlyn Rodriguez from Wilton.

ELKIN, NC (April 29, 2024) – The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series will start a new Memorial Day weekend tradition with a doubleheader visit to Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park.

The doubleheader event, May 24-25, will be the Series’ first time back at the 4/10-mile track since 2015 – which is currently it’s lone race at the facility, won by North Carolina’s Chris Ferguson.

Along with the electric atmosphere of kicking off the Memorial Day weekend, the event also boasts a $35,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

Home state stars Nick Hoffman and Max McLaughlin – both from Mooresville, NC – will be poised to claim a win about an hour from home.

To do so, they’ll have to deal with four-time World of Outlaws champion Brandon Sheppard, defending Series champion Bobby Pierce, South Carolina’s Chris Madden and more.

The race will be the Series’ first stop in North Carolina this year before returning in November for the championship deciding World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

PORT ROYAL, PA (April 28, 2024) – Ricky Thornton Jr. swept the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Mid-Atlantic swing, winning on Friday night at Georgetown Speedway in Delaware and Sunday night at Pennsylvania’s Port Royal Speedway. Thornton led every lap of the Battle in the Borough to score his 33rd career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win. With the weekend sweep Thornton becomes the first driver to go over $100,000 in season earnings after picking up the $10,000 victory at Port Royal. It was not easy at Port Royal for Thornton as Mike Marlar stayed within striking distance throughout the race. Marlar ended up in the runner-up spot at the checkers; 1.538 seconds behind the winner. Garrett Alberson earned his second straight Big River Steel Podium finish by taking third. Jonathan Davenport and Devin Moran, who dropped back as far as 15th rallied to round out the top five. “I felt like my stuff was really good there,” said Thornton who was in Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the fifth time in 2024. “I was trying to play it a little in one and two, but I think I let Mikey get a little closer to me. Luckily the yellow came out because I think maybe he would have won. I have got to thank whoever brought out that yellow because it put me back out front. It was starting to get a little treacherous there up top, but I figured if you were going to win you had to be up there.” “I have a little bit of body damage. I had to settle back down a little bit after I saw Mikey there. You go so fast down the straightaways here it’s easy to overshoot the top and that will get you in trouble. I knew I had to calm down; like I know we have a good car, so I didn’t want to mess it up. For the most part most the traffic was patient, and they left me a lane around the top.” Marlar tried several times to pull even with Thornton in turns one and two but could never muster enough to clear him to officially lead a lap. “That’s just how it goes sometimes. Ricky should have won the race here last year, but broke. That’s part of the comings and goings in racing. I’m just glad we were able to race him good. We were horrendous on Friday night. We got rained out last night, so it feels good to head back to Tennessee on a good note. This track is unbelievable. You can race 10 different ways here into the corner. I felt like I drove the car good there and felt like I made good decisions. I got by him, but it didn’t work out.”  Alberson earned his third, third-place finish of the season – inching closer and closer to his first career series win. “Hats off to the track crew; that thing was really fun; you could move all over the place. Force was seeking second win of season and fourth win of his career in the Charlotte 4-Wide event

For Immediate Release CONCORD, NC (April 28, 2024) – Hopes of a perfect weekend for John Force fell short in the final round of Sunday’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway. One week before his 75th birthday, the ageless wonder recorded the quickest elapsed time of his career (3.820 seconds), which was also the 10th-quickest time in NHRA Funny Car history, during Friday night’s second round of qualifying. He then came back with two outstanding final qualifying runs on Saturday. Force motored through Sunday’s first two rounds of quad eliminations, but a tough start at the starting line in the final round kept the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion from winning for the second time this season. “It was a good week, it was good to take the track record,” Force said. “We were able to go rounds, but I couldn’t close it at the end.” The most successful driver in NHRA history won the weather-rescheduled Winternationals final in Phoenix three weeks ago and had he won Sunday, it would have been for the 157th time of his career. Force was looking to extend his personal record of three wins in the 4-Wide event in suburban Charlotte (he also has a win in the traditional two-lane race there in the fall). Brandon Sheppard continues to lead the championship chase into the doubleheader weekend 

CONCORD, NC (April 23, 2024) – The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models are headed westbound and down for a pair of unpredictable and exciting tracks. 

Colcord, OK is the site of Arrowhead Speedway – making its debut with the Late Models for a Friday night battle under the lights in the Fujita 50 on April 26. Then, the Series makes the trek to Wichita, KS for the sight of racing from 81 Speedway on Saturday, April 27.

Both races boast a $15,000 payday.

Here are the storylines to look out for: 

Locked In Shepp – Brandon Sheppard has visited Victory Lane with the World of Outlaws CASE Late Models at 81 Speedway twice in 2022 and 2017. He was also the last Series winner in Oklahoma in 2017. 

After weeks of being disappointed with his qualifying efforts, Sheppard is coming off a strong couple of days in Alabama after scoring the Simpson Quick Time Award on Saturday at the Talladega Short Track. 

The New Berlin, IL driver will be poised to repeat that effort again this weekend as he still chases his first win of the season with the World of Outlaws. 

Mad Max’s Mojo – On Friday night, MD3 Rookie of the Year contender Max McLaughlin picked up his maiden World of Outlaws CASE Late Models win at the Talladega Short Track in just his fifth start with the Series during a preliminary Feature. 

It was no easy task either for the Mooresville, NC driver, having to pass Newport, TN’s Jimmy Owens, then holding off Martinsville, IN driver Ricky Thornton Jr. to pick up his first win in the rain-shortened Feature. 

While the prelim Feature does not officially count as an official Feature victory, “Mad Max’s” added boost of confidence will have him hungry to find Victory Lane again this weekend for a true Feature win. 

Erb’s 81 Fun – 2022 World of Outlaws CASE Late Models champion Dennis Erb Jr. won the first point-paying Series race at 81 Speedway last year, out dueling Nick Hoffman to score his 14th career triumph. 

Erb has liked the Kansas facility, giving him room to work around multiple grooves to challenge and find speed to win a race. 

With the new adjustments in Fox Shocks giving the Carpentersville, IL’s #28 machine a better start than last season, he and crew chief Heather Lyne look forward to chasing a back-to-back feat on Saturday night. 

Oklahoma! – The World of Outlaws Late Models return to Oklahoma for the first time in seven years on Friday – this time for their debut at Colcord, OK’s Arrowhead Speedway.  

The only driver in the Series to have won at the facility is Marshalltown, IA driver Ryan Gustin on July 6, 2013. 

The state-of-the-art 3/8-mile facility has garnered the interest of drivers and fans alike as the first Super Late Model race awaits drivers with 50 laps and a $15,000 check.
When the World of Outlaws last visited Oklahoma, Brandon Sheppard picked up the victory at Salina Highbanks Speedway in 2017.

OCALA, FL (April 23, 2024) — The second four-wide national event of the 2024 NHRA Mission Food Drag Racing Series will take place this weekend at the Bellagio of Drag Strips, zMAX Dragway, when the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals begins with two rounds of qualifying on Friday. Josh Hart and the TechNet/R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster team will be looking to keep their final quad streak alive and focus on grabbing one more win light. Since Hart began racing at the unique four-wide format in 2021 he had qualified in the top half of the field and raced to the final quad three years in a row.

“We have done well at the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals and this year I feel good heading into the race,” said Hart, who will be flying the red, white and blue of TechNet this weekend. “We made some progress in Las Vegas and I think we can carry that over to zMAX Dragway. There are a ton of motorsports fans in the Charlotte area and I love it when new fans come to the ropes and get to see our TechNet/R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster up close.”
Hart is also looking to join a short list of Charlotte winners who have won in the fall at the Countdown national event and at the spring four-wide nationals. Only three Top Fuel drivers have accomplished this feat and Hart would like to join Antron Brown, Steve Torrence and Cory McClenathan. Hart won the Carolina Nationals fall race during his rookie season in 2021.

“It would be cool to join that list of Top Fuel drivers to have won in both the spring and fall at zMAX Dragway but really I just want to get back into the winner’s circle,” said Hart. “This team is too good to not have more wins. It is tough out here for sure, but we are working to put ourselves in a position to hopefully go on a run starting in Charlotte. We have a tune up that can run with anyone and if I do my job on the starting line, we can win some races.”

Hart’s skill on the starting line when it comes to reaction time has been making major positive strides in the past two seasons. The fourth-year pro is currently the second quickest “leaver” (quickest reaction time) behind Justin Ashley and just in front of Brown, Shawn Langdon and Top Fuel rookie Tony Stewart.

“I have been working really hard on improving my reaction times the past two season,” said Hart, who regularly collects wins throughout the season on hole shots. “These race cars are so close on the performance side it comes down to the drivers in a lot of situations which I love. You have to really focus and block out all the distractions. Four-wide racing adds another element to the equation with the addition of more cars. It makes it challenging and fun.”

The past three years in Charlotte have seen Hart and the TechNet/R+L Carriers Top Fuel team qualify No. 4, No. 6, and No. 5 on the all-concrete track. Overall, in his six previous appearances he has never qualified in the bottom half of the field. Successful starting positions have been a key to race day win lights in Hart’s opinion.
“We you can start in the top half of the field that is a good indication that your race weekend has been consistent every day for the most part,” said Hart. “We want to come off the trailer on Friday and make two good runs that get us in the top half of the field. That gives my crew chief Ron Douglas some freedom to get aggressive on Saturday and fine tune a set up for race day. We only have three rounds of racing at four-wide races and I think that adds to the excitement.”

The R+L Carriers team raced into the second quad two weeks ago at the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals and for their effort they will be racing the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Four-Wide specialty race during Saturday’s qualifying sessions. The race will be a repeat of the second quad race from Las Vegas with $10,000 and three championship bonus points on the line for Hart and the rest of the Top Fuel competitors.

Following three rounds, double defending champion Kody Kopp (No. 1 Rick Ware Racing/Parts Plus KTM 450 SX-F) is firmly in control and well on his way to ending this season’s campaign as the undisputed most decorated rider in class history. And that means the remainder of a talent-laden field must rise up and meet Kopp’s challenge or risk serving as a backdrop to history. An elite handful of riders in the pack have proven they have the skills to go bar-to-bar with Kopp on any given night. It’s just a matter of doing so as consistently as the Rick Ware Racing ace. Second-ranked Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 D&D Racing/Certified KTM 450 SX-F) has the tools to do so as evidenced by the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles class crown included on his lengthy résumé. And third-ranked Tom Drane (No. 59 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) showed himself to be equal to the task during a torrid second-half run in 2023. Trent Lowe (No. 48 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R) was victorious in Texas a year ago, albeit at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. CONCORD, NC (April 22, 2024) – The 2024 lineup of events for the American Sprint Car Series National Tour continues to evolve and come into place, with the most recent update coming in the month of August.

Originally a two-night run in July, the trip north now encompasses six nights, starting in Kansas and Nebraska before heading north to Montana.

Dodge City Raceway Park has taken Friday, Aug. 16. Racing then moves to Lincoln County Raceway (North Platte, Neb.) for the tour’s first visit on Saturday, Aug. 17. Both nights are in conjunction with the ASCS Western Plains Region.

Northbound from there, the first stop in Montana is Big Sky Speedway in Billings for the first time since 2019 on Friday, Aug. 23, and Saturday, Aug. 24 for the $12,012 to win Harvey Ostermiller Memorial. Back on the lineup for the first time since 2015, Electric City Speedway in Great Falls will take Friday, Friday, Aug. 30, and Saturday, Aug. 31, during the 28th annual Montana Roundup. All four nights are co-sanctioned with the ASCS Frontier Region.

The 2024 season marks the 33rd season of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours encompassing Wing and Non-Wing competition.

We made a test run Monday in Las Vegas after the race. With that run, we learned what we needed to learn and we’re ready to go to Charlotte. The car ran a 3.98 which was in line with what all the top cars were running last weekend. We made adjustments to the clutch, and the car made a flawless run. We’re looking ahead now and are ready to go for Charlotte. We’re working toward consistency, which is why we tested after Vegas to prepare for Charlotte.

Overall, I feel good about the direction of the team, headed up by Jason (Bunker, Crew Chief) and Johnny (West, Assistant Crew Chief). We’ve got a great team with eager young guys who are ready to win. We’ve qualified in the top half three of four events so far this year which shows we’re connecting and making improvements as a team.

CONCORD, NC (April 22, 2024) – The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series will visit two new tracks and return to two Pennsylvania thrillers during its May northeast swing.

First, the Series will make its debut at Ohio’s Raceway 7 on Thursday, May 16. It’ll also be the World of Outlaws Late Model’s first Ohio stop of the season.

Then, three straight days in Pennsylvania. The World of Outlaws will return to Bedford Speedway for the first time since 2009 on Friday, May 17, before making the trek to Marion Center Raceway for the third straight year on Saturday, May 18. The Series will wrap up the four-day weekend with its debut at Path Valley Speedway on Sunday, May 19.

• Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon takes victory at Long Beach 
• Colton Herta, Alex Palou round out all-Honda podium in front of Honda’s home crowd
• Honda powers four of top five finishers at the beach

It was an incredible win at Honda’s home race for Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, as the six-time series champion powered his #9 Honda Indy car to victory today in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. 

Dixon needed to save fuel through the latter half of the race as Josef Newgarden, Colton Herta and Alex Palou chased him down. After defending from Newgarden for several laps, the Penske driver was removed from podium contention as some mild contact from the rear from Herta in the hairpin. That light contact put Newgarden’s car into “anti-stall” mode, allowing Herta and Palou to get by. 

From there, Dixon needed to continue to save fuel to the finish, crossing the line less than a second ahead of Andretti Global’s Herta.  Dixon’s Chip Ganassi teammate and defending NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou finished third, making it an all-Honda podium affair

Other Honda drivers in the top 10 include Marcus Ericsson (P5), 2023 Long Beach Grand Prix winner Kyle Kirkwood (P7), and polesitter Felix Rosenqvist (P9).

I carried too much speed into the hairpin and got into the back of him. Which wasn’t terrible, but I think he got anti-stall from his rear tires lifting. That really killed his run. I feel bad for him, I have a lot of respect for Josef and don’t want to race him that way. But that’s just how it happened today. I’ll definitely keep it in the back of my mind for the future.”

Alex Palou (#10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda) finished third: “It was a tough race. I think Josef, Colton and I were all very close. But Scott was on a different strategy, and I think only he could made it work like that. I’ve very happy with a podium finish. Maybe we could’ve done a little bit better without the lapped traffic, but honestly, I’m happy to get that first podium with DHL and proud that a Ganassi car won today.”

I enjoyed it. My first INDYCAR weekend is done now. We had a strong performance, so I’m super happy. I have to thank the onsemi Arrow McLaren Chevy team for the car. The car was awesome today. I was the biggest mover of the race, which is amazing from 22nd to 11th. Super happy with that. I have to thank the whole INDYCAR organization. The championship is amazing. The racing is here. Long Beach is a crazy good place, and I hope to be back in the future there. I learned much more in the race, it’s crazy. Every five laps in a row, many pit stops, out laps, in laps, saving fuel, overtaking cars, and I enjoyed it. The performance was great. It’s pure racing in INDYCAR. Physically, it’s tough. I’m quite tired right now, but it was a dream come true to do an INDYCAR race for me, with McLaren. Such a legendary brand and racing team. I’m quite emotional, but it’s amazing. I don’t realize it yet, but I’m super happy.” Alexander Rossi, No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet:“We had a tough weekend dealing with some unique situations. We made some good steps overnight, into the warm-up and into the race. There will always be a check-up when you start that far back and, unfortunately, Pato (O’Ward) didn’t have anywhere to go. It was just one of those accordion moments. We shifted into recovery mode from there and the team did a good job to hang in and get us into the top 10.” Christian Rasmussen, No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet:“Yeah, it was tricky. I feel like we’ve had a good weekend so far. We’ve got up to speed quick in our practices. Not the qualifying we wanted, but the race was unfortunate. Tapped the wall out of (turn) 11. Thought the car was fine. My steering wheel was a little bit off, but I thought it was a bent toe link, but then when I went into (turn) four, I think it just completely snapped and it went around. Not how I wanted to end the day. I’m sorry to the boys, and it’s going to be a quick turnaround to Barber, but we’ll come back stronger.” Rinus VeeKay, No. 21 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet:“That was a tough race. We chose to start on the greens, and I hoped I could pass some guys. Then, I felt like the pace was pretty good on greens. Unfortunately, lost a bit of time on that first pit sequence. Then, couldn’t really hold on all the way throughout that second stint on greens, but still pretty good I’d say. Then, at the end, there were some guys where everybody was on different strategy. Hoped to make up some more ground, but I really struggled on the blacks. It was just pretty hard to drive at that point. Still moved up, but wished I could’ve made it into the top-12 in the No. 21 Chevy. Santino Ferrucci, No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet:“The race was what it was. We took a gamble with the pit stops. Everyone can always Monday quarterback, but we kind of figured we either end up in the top-10 or 21st. We ended up 21st. The Sexton Properties Chevrolet is in one piece, and we move on to Barber.” Sting Ray Robb, No. 41 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet:“We have concluded the Long Beach Grand Prix on somewhat of a high note. Really proud of the Pray.com Chevrolet team. We had some really good pit stops that were clean. We made up a few spots along the way on strategy and made up some spots in the end based off of that early racing stint and avoiding the attrition. Super proud of the team and super proud of the progress we made through the weekend. We needed a clean day, and today was that clean day. Now we can build momentum heading into Barber. It was a great race for us as a team. We can be proud of that. We improved a lot from St. Pete, and I’m happy that we were able to show such a strong outing on the track. Can’t wait for next weekend in Barber.”  Agustin Canapino, No. 78 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet:“Another 15th for us. We are really happy. The execution was really, really good. Unfortunately, the strategy wasn’t the best at the end. We had bad luck, honestly, with the strategy. The execution as perfect. Thanks to the whole team for the excellent pit stops. The pace was incredible. We finished 15th in a really difficult race. Very high level for everybody. Top-15, more points, and we are really happy. Hope for more in the next race.”
