BAGGSY’S EPIC DRIFTINGDOUBLE-HEADER

From the UK’s largest family fundraising festival to having the most fun on track with his friends, SB Motorsport did it all across back-to-back weekends.

What an incredible 2 weeks it has been for Baggsy and the SB Motorsport team, consecutive weekends of fun – and with so much more coming up, let’s run it back and take you through we’ve been up to.
The SB Motorsport arrived back at the iconic Silverstone Circuit and prepared for 3 days of action and adventure with CarFest: An event packed to the brim with activities and attractions to keep the whole family entertained. With 7 festivals housed in the one circuit, spectators were in for a real treat.
With several drift demonstrations per day, the crowd simply grew with each outing, the drifters rapidly becoming one of the main attractions at CarFest. With the popularity of the drifting, the CarFest team asked if the drifters would like a larger area to pit – how could we say no! With the side quest completed, the Silverstone Wing became the new drift paddock.
The SB13 shop was in full swing, the team were busy chatting to all the visitors while they grabbed their latest swag and admired our fresh GR Corolla, hard parked by the stand.
Music is the heartbeat of CarFest. From epic performances on the main stage to late night DJ sets and laid-back acoustic vibes, there’s a sound for everyone (including the unmistakable sound of tyres shredding – music to our ears).
Baggsy, the SB Motorsport team and their drift friends all got together to see Tom Jones live on stage. One thing led to another, and somehow we agreed to dress each other up…

Thank you CarFest and a special thanks to our buddy Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith for arranging the drift side of the event. He’s a legend for a reason.

Leaving CarFest at Silverstone Circuit, the team packed up and returned to HQ. Fully reloaded, SB Motorsport headed straight to Castle Combe Circuit for the UK stop of the LZ World Tour.
With a friendly competition between friends in the UK and from USA, the event was a great platform to showcase drifting as a sport to the masses. The DY-2JZ GT86 being the steed of choice for Baggsy while Sam Sheffield took on the World Tour in the STAUFF V8 PS13, his ‘rental’ due to mechanical issues with his AE86.
Having the tried and tested Accelera 651 Sport as the controlled tyre for the LZ World Tour, our boys got to grips with the cars super quick. With the temperature heating up by the minute, the track evolved and more grip was being dialled.
After Qualifying, Baggsy was awarded a score of 96.00 while Sam received 86.00. Both advanced to the Top 16 without having to battle their way through the last chance head-to-heads. GG boys!
The crowd roared and echoed throughout Castle Combe Circuit wanting to see a head-to-head fantasy battle between Baggsy and Sam. The boys duly obliged and put on one helluva performance!
As main battles go, each driver was matched evenly and made every run super close and exciting. Insane proximity and signature tyre smoke filled the track, we didn’t want the party to end and Baggsy was pipped to the post by Ollie Evans, while Lwi Edwards was awarded the win over Sam.
Both drivers and SB Motorsport cheered on the rest of the competitors and provided technical support – one of the most amazing things about this drift community; you’re either haulin’ or helpin’.
Throughout both days, the SB13 shop was packed with visitors, checking out the merchandise and taking home a gift or two. The Baggsy Skateboard Decks flew off the shelves (not literally), while T-Shirts and Hoodies were extremely popular items. The Baggsy Meet & Greet at the shop caused a traffic jam 😅.
So that’s a wrap on CarFest and the LZ World Tour, both incredible events which gave us the opportunity to meet you all, put on a show and create some truly unforgettable memories.
