
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 15, 2026) – The second half of the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season starts with the July 17-19 NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway and Bandero Café Chevrolet SS Funny Car driver Alexis DeJoria seeks nothing more than to sip red wine from the raceway’s traditional winner’s goblet Sunday afternoon.
The John Force Racing driver is currently seventh in the Funny Car point standings after the season’s first 10 races and has the NHRA Sonoma Nationals. She earned more round wins (13) in the first 10 races than all of last season (11) and is a mere two rounds and change (43 points) out of fifth place with four races remaining in the regular season.
The Mike Neff/Jonnie Lindberg-led team qualified seventh or better in six of the first 10 races, including third/second/second in the previous three races.
Friday night’s qualifying session will have added incentive with the Deecell Power Systems “After Dark Low Qualifier” bonus. The top qualifier of that session In Top Fuel and Funny Car will each earn $4,000. Last year, Brittany Force dazzled the huge crowd with a record speed run at the time, going 3.645-seconds at 343.16 mph.

What are your best memories of competing at Sonoma Raceway?
“I’ve been racing in Sonoma for quite a long time as a California native and running NHRA Division 7 during my Super Comp years. I have great memories as far as family and friends attending and who doesn’t love wine country.”
Where do you like to go in the Sonoma/Napa area when you’re in town?
“Vineyards I’ve gone to in the past and thoroughly enjoyed are Three Fat Guys Winery, Robert Mondavi Winery and Caddis Wines Sonoma. I love a good pinot noir.”
What did you do during the extra week off the road?
“We had a 4th of July pool party at my home in Newport, Rhode Island. We grilled steaks and fired off lots of fireworks. Other than that, I paid bills and spent lots of time with family and friends.”
How do you approach Sonoma and the three races after that before the playoffs start being just 43 points out of fifth place?
“We will treat Sonoma like any other day at the drags and put everything we have into making more consistent passes and qualifying well. It’s all about going rounds on Sunday.”
What are your thoughts on the Winternationals back as the season-opener in 2027?
“I think going back to Pomona for the start of the season feels right. That’s how it’s been and that’s how we should keep it. Now, if we could go back to quarter-mile racing, I’d be even happier.”
