CORVETTE RACING AT THE GLEN: Title Fights Take Center Stage

Both GTD PRO Corvettes in thick of tight points battle heading to Watkins Glen DETROIT (June 23, 2026) – The summer stretch of events for the four Corvette Z06 GT3.R teams in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship kicks off this weekend with the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen – the first long-distance race for the series since March.
Five Corvette GT3s are part of the 54-car entry in the race, which doubles as the third of five rounds in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup. There are two in GTD PRO and three in GTD:
· Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports – GTD PRO: Antonio Garcia, Alexander Sims (No. 3 Corvette); Nicky Catsburg, Tommy Milner (No. 4 Corvette)· 13 Autosport – GTD: Matt Bell, Orey Fidani, Lars Kern (No. 13 Corvette)· DXDT Racing – GTD: Charlie Eastwood, Mason Filippi, Salih Yoluc (No. 36 Corvette)· DragonSpeed – GTD: Giacomo Altoé, Henrik Hedman, Casper Stevenson (No. 81 Corvette)(Factory drivers in bold)In GTD PRO, both entries from Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports are part of a four-team title fight with only 31 points from first to fourth – 385 points are available each weekend. Milner and Catsburg lead the championship on the strength of three top-four finishes this year in the No. 4 Corvette. The class win at Detroit for Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims in the No. 3 Corvette boosted the pairing squarely into the fight to defend their GTD PRO championship. Garcia and Sims finished on the class podium the last two years; Garcia has seven podiums in his last eight Watkins Glen starts including two wins at the track in 2021 to go along with his 2014 win. The three Corvette GTD teams are hoping for podium finishes to start their summer charge. One of the biggest storylines of the weekend is the return of DXDT Racing. A transporter fire meant the team had to miss the last GTD round at Laguna Seca, and the team has prepped one of its other Corvettes to serve as the No. 36 Z06 GT3.R this weekend factory driver Charlie Eastwood, Mason Filippi and Salih Yoluc. The trio were in contention for class wins at Daytona and Sebring before late-race issues raised their heads. 13 Autosport’s trio of Matt Bell, Orey Fidani and Matt Bell are coming off their second straight start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans two weeks ago. The team’s aim is to get back to Le Mans by winning a third straight Bob Akin Award for the highest-points scoring entry with a Bronze-rated driver. Fidani enters Watkins Glen second in Akin Award points but only 10 behind – with 350 points available. The DragonSpeed trio of Giacomo Altoé, Henrik Hedman and Casper Stevenson will reunite for the first time since Sebring in their No. 81 Corvette. Altoé, Hedman and the DragonSpeed team made progress in the two West Coast races at Long Beach and Laguna Seca, the latter the first race where the No. 81 didn’t suffer significant contact and damage. Of note, Stevenson was the GTD winner at The Glen last year and the DragonSpeed team was third in GTD PRO.The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 28. It will stream live on Peacock in the U.S. starting at noon ET and on IMSA’s YouTube channel internationally. IMSA Radio will air all on-track sessions at IMSA.com along XM 206, SiriusXM Online 996.
CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R PRE-EVENT DRIVER QUOTES
ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Winning at Detroit was a big accomplishment and relief for us on the No. 3 Corvette. Now we are back in the championship with three other teams nearly even. Obviously Watkins Glen is going to be a bigger race, which is fine with me. I really like the track and the length of the race. The car is usually very strong around there with the way the track flows. I also have confidence in our engineers and crew that we’ll be as strong as possible.”
ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “The back half of the season is setting up to be one of the most competitive ones that I can remember. Looking at the championship table, whichever car of the first four finishes highest this weekend will have the points lead. I can see it going back and forth like that for much of the rest of the year. That means that everyone on the team will have to be just as sharp as we were at Detroit in order to secure another great result at Watkins Glen. The first aim will be to get on the podium as in these longer races there is more opportunity for things to go for us or against us in terms of strategy. But I have complete confidence in our group, and I’m looking forward to it.”
TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s been a nice little break since Detroit for us. I’m excited for the momentum we have on the No. 4 Corvette. Detroit didn’t finish the way we wanted but we had a pretty good car and a chance for the podium. Nicky also has some good momentum coming off his win at Le Mans, so all good vibes for us on the 4 car side. Watkins Glen has been one that has not been the best to me over the years. Maybe this is the year that it turns a little bit and goes in our favor. We’ll continue to work the same way we have this year to put ourselves in position for a good finish at the end. It’s obviously really close in the championship. Yes we are leading but it is all very close and anyone in the top-five is in the hunt and right there. It’s not to the point where you need to cover off one or two cars so you have to do whatever is best for our car in the race. It’s great to have the 3 car guys up there and we all continue to push each other to be better and make sure that we’re getting the best result for each car and a good result for Chevrolet in the Manufacturers Championship. It’s been a good year so far and let’s hope we can continue this momentum in the races ahead.”
NICKY CATSBURG, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s on now. The championship is extremely tight. It doesn’t matter if you are P1, P2, P3 or P4 at the moment. Whoever finishes in front will have the lead. Tommy and I will have to bring our A-game. We’ve been solid so far this year. Without some bad luck at Detroit, I think we could have had a bigger lead. Let’s hope that Watkins Glen will go in our favor. We’ve always done well there and the car feels good there. I see no reason why we can’t win this one.”
OREY FIDANI, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “The entire IMSA circuit has some awesome tracks in their own way. For me, I’d say Watkins Glen is definitely in my top-five… possibly top-three. It’s a fun track and flows really well. The car naturally works pretty awesome there. I really do enjoy it. The track definitely tests us pretty well and is physically challenging. The Carousel doesn’t feel too nice on your neck after a long time but the car feels so good around there that it makes things a bit easier, too. I love it more than it hurts!”
LARS KERN, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Watkins Glen is one of the classic American tracks but unfortunately one where I have never quite had a good result. It’s something I’m really looking forward to after the race at Le Mans. Watkins is super-demanding on the car because it’s corner after corner with a lot of grip. If you have a great car there, it’s just magical… an amazing feeling. The track density is high with the higher car counts so it always feels a bit hectic and busy. But this is what IMSA is about and I think it’s very cool.”
CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 36 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Everything seems on track. The team keeps just getting hit with blow after blow after blow. But they’ve been so good with the comms and getting everything replaced and updated. … I was speaking to Bryan (Sellers) the other day and they’re absolutely flat out. As we know, it’s a great group of people and we’ll be there at Watkins Glen fighting for them. At some point they deserve a good result! They’ve been doing really so good so often but have fallen just short way too many times. Everyone deserves a good one and I hope we can get it.”
