Randy Meyer Racing kicked off the IHRA Triple Crown inaugural race in impressive fashion as sisters Rachel Meyer-Curl and Megan Meyer both advanced to the semifinal round before Rachel captured the event’s first victory in the Hedinger’s Equipment & NGK Spark Plugs and Ignition Coils Top Alcohol Dragster.
Both Randy Meyer Racing entries showed championship-caliber performance from the start of qualifying. Rachel secured the No. 2 qualifying position with a 5.28-second pass at 270 mph, while Megan qualified No. 3 in the GUNK Dragster with a 5.31-second run at 270 mph for the 8-car field.
In first-round competition, Megan faced Joey Gerdelmann and delivered a dominant performance. As Gerdelmann encountered tire shake early in the run, Megan drove to a 5.31-second pass at 269 mph, recording the quickest and fastest run of the round, along with the best reaction time.
Rachel matched her sister’s success in the opening round, defeating Jared Dreher with a strong 5.34-second run at 267 mph on Saturday, while Dreher also struggled with traction issues early in the pass.
The semifinal round set up a highly anticipated Meyer-versus-Meyer showdown with a guaranteed spot in the final round on the line. Megan gained an advantage at the starting line but immediately encountered tire smoke and ended her chances of winning, while Rachel experienced her own early challenges before driving the dragster to the finish line with a slowed 5.75-second pass at 251 mph to earn the victory, take bragging rights, and advance to the final.
Following the semifinal round, the Randy Meyer Racing crew faced an intense turnaround after discovering issues within the clutch system and ignition components. Working against the clock, the team successfully prepared Rachel’s dragster for the championship round against Jeff Chatterson, who entered the finals after a strong 5.26-second, 274 mph semifinal performance.
In the final round, fortune favored the Meyer camp as Chatterson left the starting line before the green light, resulting in an automatic disqualification and securing the event victory for Meyer-Curl who clocked in the quarter-mile with a 5.34 ET at 264 mph.
“This weekend was amazing,” said Meyer-Curl. “My whole family got to come and we celebrated my daughter’s second birthday and Father’s Day with a win. I was consistent on the tree all day Saturday and the car went A to B every pass. IHRA did fantastic getting the track dried and ready to race again after the rain, there was a great crowd, and we were able to bring my sponsor Tim Hedinger and his son to the winner’s circle. I don’t think we could have asked for a better weekend. I’m so blessed to be able to do this with my family and I can’t wait for the next race.”
Despite falling in the semifinal round, Megan continued to showcase the consistency and competitiveness that has made her one of the sport’s top drivers.
“Obviously racing your sister in the semifinals is bittersweet because you know one of you is going home, but it guarantees a Randy Meyer Racing dragster in the final,” said Meyer. “We had a great race car all weekend and the team worked incredibly hard to overcome some challenges. Watching Rachel get the win after the crew battled through those issues was a huge reward for everyone involved. It’s a great way to start the Triple Crown season and gives us a lot of momentum heading into our next drag race.”

The victory marks Randy Meyer Racing’s first IHRA win of the 2026 season, and second win of the year. The next and final IHRA Triple Crown event for the year for the Meyer Sisters will be held September 10-13 at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pennsylvania. The weekend will feature a double-race format after the originally scheduled Triple Crown event earlier this season was lost to rain.
