·        Austin Dillon led Chevrolet to the checkered flag in the NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway – driving the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to a fourth-place result to earn his career-best finish in the annual non-points paying event. Rebounding from an early pit road penalty in the final segment, Connor Zilisch battled back to earn a fifth-place finish in his first career NASCAR All-Star Race appearance.  ·        For the fourth consecutive weekend, Chevrolet took over half of the top-10 finishing positions with Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron and Alex Bowman taking home seventh- and ninth-place results, respectively, with Spire Motorsports’ Michael McDowell racing his way into the final segment en route to an eighth-place finish.

FINAL SEGMENT RECAP:
·        Six of the eight drivers that raced their way into the final segment by the cumulative total of their finishes in Segments One and Two came from the Chevrolet camp: Trackhouse Racing’s Connor Zilisch, Spire Motorsports’ Michael McDowell, Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman, Hyak Motorsports’ Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon. Earning the Fan Vote was Spire Motorsports’ Daniel Suarez, giving Chevrolet 13 of the 26 entries for the final segment.
 ·        With the field re-stacked for the final segment, it was William Byron and Connor Zilisch that led the Bowtie brigade to the green flag from positions within the top-five. In his first All-Star Race appearance, Zilisch quickly topped the Team Chevy leaderboard when he made a pass for the fourth position early in the run. Reaching Lap 35 of the segment, radio to the rookie driver indicated he was posting the fastest lap times of the field during the opening run. Showcasing the speed of his No. 88 Chevrolet, Zilisch was progressively closing the gap to the top-three cars, reaching just an 1.2-second margin with 20 laps remaining until the competition caution. With assistance from lap traffic, Zilisch and Byron were able to drive their Chevrolet’s to the bumpers of the leaders as the run reached single digits. Zilisch was able to make it up to second and hold onto the position en route to the caution.
 ·        Under the competition caution, Zilisch reported that he fired off tight and struggled with rear grip on the long run. Crew Chief Randall Burnett called his driver to pit road for four tires, fuel and an adjustment, and while maintaining position in the race off pit road, the No. 88 was forced to the rear of the field after enduring a penalty on the stop. With the mishap, Byron was able to move up to the second position to lead the field to the restart from the front row. Setting up for what looked to be like a long green flag run, Byron was settled into the second position with an 1.8-second margin from then race leader, Denny Hamlin, as the race hit the halfway mark. A rather quiet driver behind the wheel, Byron made a quick report of right-rear build up that was similar to what he experienced in the previous run. Yet another long run set up for a green flag pit cycle that saw Byron being called to pit road with 64 laps to go for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment. But an untimely caution fell shortly thereafter, ultimately putting the No. 24 in the 16th position for the restart. Once the green flag pit cycle was complete, it was Austin Dillon that led the Chevrolet charge, climbing into the fourth position with 20 laps remaining. Also re-entering the top-five in the late-race run was Zilisch, with the pair of Team Chevy drivers going on to lead the manufacturer to the checkered flag.
·        Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain were locked into the final 200-lap run and a shot at the one-million-dollar grand prize, but damage sustained to their Chevrolet’s in the first-two segments ultimately took the pair out of contention.

Post-Race Driver Quotes: Ross Chastain, No. 1 Trackhouse Racing ChevroletSidelined by damage sustained in an accident in Segment Two. “It knocked the front clip off our No. 1 Busch Light Chevy. It’s a bummer. We executed the first segment really well. We weren’t passing anyone really, by any means, but we were able to maintain position, which has not been the case with this downforce package. With Brandon McSwain’s (crew chief) steps ahead, our Chevy drove a lot better than at Bristol, so there’s a lot to look forward to if we take another step like that for the next one.”

Austin Dillon, No. 3 Richard Childress Racing ChevroletFinished: 4th “I’m just proud of the No. 3 BREZTRI AEROSPHERE® (budesonide, glycopyrrolate, and formoterol fumarate) Chevrolet team and the adjustments they made. We had a really fast car on the long run there and we were able to run down the No. 43 (Erik Jones) with a couple laps to go. We were trying to save in case a caution would come out. Overall, just really proud of the effort. Dover Motor Speedway is historically our worst track, but we were able to lean on our teammate, Kyle Busch, this weekend and that really helped. I feel like we’re trending upwards. We were 34th in practice, so we chopped, cut and rebuilt our No. 3 BREZTRI AEROSPHERE® (budesonide, glycopyrrolate, and formoterol fumarate) Chevrolet to go to what the No. 8 team ran. It’s really nice to have a teammate that you can rely on.”   Kyle Busch, No. 8 Richard Childress Racing ChevroletFinished: 17th “Unfortunate day for the entire No. 8 Lucas Oil Chevrolet here at Dover Motor Speedway. We had a strong car in practice and qualifying, and were driving forward through the first segment. During our first pit stop, we got a penalty for speeding on pit road, which sent us to the tail of the field and then we got caught up in a wreck in the final laps of the segment that took a toll on the car. The team spent most of the second segment working on the car in the garage, and while we got the balance better, we ultimately lost track position in the third segment that we were never able to recover from. The car was tight, and I lost rear grip. We’re leaving here with a 17th-place finish and now we’ll reset and get ready for the Coke 600 next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”   Chase Elliott, No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports ChevroletSidelined by damage sustained in an accident at the end of Segment One. “It was wild, for sure. I didn’t really know what the best thing to do was. I probably should have stayed out and tried to take a chance, but you’re probably going to be in the mess either way. There were a lot of different strategies going on, and unfortunately, I just got caught up in the mess twice and the second one was enough to end our day. I saw them getting together and crashing. Obviously the straightaway has so much banking here that everything slides to the bottom and that’s where I was. I was trying to work my way back up the hill and I ran into a wall of cars sliding down the track. It’s just part of it.”   Ty Dillon, No. 10 Kaulig Racing ChevroletFinished: 15th “It was a fun day for the No. 10 Patriot Mobile Chevrolet team, being in the top-10 for a lot of the race. We were really competitive too, so I think we learned a lot about ourselves and learned a lot about our race car and some of the things we need to keep focusing on. I think we found some things the past couple of weeks that have been good adjustments for us throughout the weekend. We just need to start on the right foot a little bit quicker, but everyone on this team is really resilient and that was a great All-Star Race for us.”    AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Kaulig Racing ChevroletFinished: 12th“We knew it was going to be an uphill climb for the No. 16 Celsius Chevrolet team with starting last. I thought we had okay speed in the first segment, but we just couldn’t ever get around the right guys. We were decent there in the end. We were lucky to get through that wreck with minor damage. We had some nose damage that probably hurt the car, but when we restarted up front there, I thought we had good speed. I was able to run with the No. 45 (Tyler Reddick) for most of that run, so that was pretty cool. Overall, proud of the effort to get into the final segment. I thought we made the most out of it that we could. We know the areas we lack and it shows up in traffic, especially, and on the long runs.”    Michael McDowell, No. 71 Spire Motorsports ChevroletFinished: 8th“It was an up-and-down day for this No. 71 RCA Chevrolet team, but glad to make the big show. We dodged some carnage there early. We had a little bit of damage, but we overcame that. We just lost the balance a little bit there at the end. I felt like two runs before the end, we were really good on the long run. And then right there at the end, we were just a little bit too free. But overall, just really proud of the effort and it’s something to build on.”    Connor Zilisch, No. 88 Trackhouse Racing ChevroletFinished: 5th“We needed a day like this for our No. 88 Jockey 150th Anniversary Chevrolet team where we had contending speed. It’s been a long year and the moments of hope like this certainly feel good. I don’t really know what to point our speed to. We still had some balance issues, but just the potential was there. We had potential in our race car. Everyone at Trackhouse Racing has been working really hard to get that and make it to where, even on the bad days, we’re still running decent. I feel like we had that today. We had potential and, honestly, room to grow. Just really proud of everyone on this team. It was a big rebound from qualifying yesterday. I knew it was a long race, and I knew we had to get inside the top-26 there to try and give ourselves a chance in the invert. We drove up to 11th in the first segment and continued to move forward in the second segment. That’s when I really started to realize that we had a shot. It was cool to be on offense, have good restarts and not feel like a fish out of water.”
