COMPETITIONPLUSTV TO UNVEIL LATEST LEGENDS: THE SERIES

WEDNESDAY EVENING FEATURING BILLY MEYER

SPARTANBURG, SC (December 22, 2021) – Legends: The Series, the brainchild of CompetitionPlus.com founder Bobby Bennett, stands as one of the most highly regarded and in-depth online drag racing documentary series. On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 8 PM EST, drag racing Hall of Famer and innovator Billy Meyer will become the latest in a line of drag racing icons to have his story told by Legends: The Series

Meyer is excited to be part of a featured list that has included Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, John Force, and most recently, Kenny Bernstein.

“I spent a lot of time with Bobby and he has obviously done his research. I feel he put together a great documentary,” said Meyer. “This isn’t something that I pursued but Bobby did some excellent work, and I can’t imagine how many hours he put into this project. I am proud of the things I accomplished over my career. Drag racing was the biggest part, but Bobby also shows some of my successes away from the drag strip. I want to thank Bobby for not just doing a Legends movie on me but for taking the time to chronicle so many important figures and personalities from a sport I have dedicated my life to.”

The hour-long episode will delve into the life of the drag racing visionary Meyer, where he discusses everything from his childhood in a positive energy household to making a grand entrance on the professional drag racing scene. Meyer also discusses his career as one of drag racing’s individuals responsible for taking professional drag racing to the next level in terms of business-to-business sponsorships and building the Texas Motorplex.

Legends: The Series is in its sixth season of production, dating back to the pilot, which aired in 2013, featured the 16-time champion Force, who discussed his years of drag racing before he became part of the corporate-backed community.

“We have spent a lot of hours developing the stories which are not common knowledge until decades after the fact,” Bennett said. “Case in point, Billy Meyer was thought to be just a rich kid racing on dad’s money. Little did many know, there were many times he came up on the short end of the money deal when out on the road. Magazines back in those days didn’t always do a good job reporting past the facade many drivers portrayed.”

The episode can be viewed on CompetitionPlus.com‘s  YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/CompetitionPlusTV) and on the magazine itself (www.competitionplus.com) when it premieres at 8 PM EST, Wednesday, December 22.
