“We showed speed today at Talladega Superspeedway, and our Chevy could roll up quick, so I’m proud of everybody at RCR and ECR for building a fast TaxSlayer Chevrolet. Unfortunately, we became a victim of circumstance. I had a feeling something like that might happen, but it’s still unfortunate. The edge of the pack was chaotic, but there was still more than 25 laps remaining in the race so it was a little too early to be so aggressive. Some of the cars around us weren’t the ideal cars to be around, but we still had a solid top lane going. I don’t even remember who was in front of me, but I don’t think we should have been racing like that. It’s just unfortunate because now we are in a hole in terms of the NASCAR Playoff standings heading into the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL after gaining points on those we needed to gain points on earlier. I have experience at road courses though so I feel confident we can get to the ROVAL and slay it.”
