Dominic Scelzi Rallies at Ocean Speedway for Fourth Straight Top-Five Finish

Inside Line Promotions – STOCKTON, Calif. (April 24, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi continued his consistency last weekend when he recorded a fifth-place finish and a 10th-place result.

The action began on Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., where Scelzi qualified ninth quickest to open the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series event. He then finished second in a heat race to lock into the 10 th starting position for the A Main.

“I got to fifth fairly quickly and then I got into fourth on a late restart,” he said. “I felt like I was better than the car in third place. I had a brain fade and got into the wall on a restart. I fell back to sixth so I started rolling the bottom. I was side by side for third place on the last lap and couldn’t get by him, which allowed someone else to motor around us on the outside.”

Scelzi late-race bid for another podium finish ended with a fifth-place result, which marked his fourth straight top five. Here is a link to watch the race: https://youtu.be/zsNVh0A7uBE.

“It’s another top five so that’s great, but I want to win races,” he said. “I want to win races every time we hit the track and we’re good enough to.”

The weekend wrapped up for Scelzi and his family owned, Roth Motorsports sponsored team on Saturday during the Asparagus Cup at the Stockton Dirt Track.

“We were the last car out for qualifying and timed in ninth, which was good,” he said. “We won the heat and finished fourth in the dash so I felt confident going into the main event. We got right to third. I felt like I was biding my time. Gio (Scelzi) and Willie (Croft) got racing and I closed in on them when a yellow came out. I didn’t get a great restart and then I faded as the race went. I originally could run the top, but I got passed by a couple of guys on the bottom so I moved down there. Then I got passed by a couple of guys on the top. We just struggled as the race went on.”
