Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2018) – Giovanni Scelzi is aiming to make his World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series debut this week after rain washed out an opportunity last weekend in Texas.

Scelzi and the Paul Silva owned No. 57, which is backed by Richard and Jennifer Marshall of Priority Aviation Services for approximately 20 races this season, will compete this Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown and Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., for the SoCal Showdown.

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given by Paul, Richard and Jennifer,” Scelzi said. “This week will be my first time not only racing with the World of Outlaws, but also my first time competing at either track. The goal is to get comfortable quickly and put ourselves in a good position, which starts with qualifying well.”

Scelzi made his 410ci winged sprint car debut last year and qualifying was a strong point. He set quick time during qualifying five times and he timed in inside the top five 14 times during 18 races last year. In fact, he’s only qualified outside the top 10 once in the class.

“Qualifying is really important with any series, but with the World of Outlaws it sets you up for the rest of your night,” he said. “A great qualifying time can put you on the front row of a heat race. If you hold your own there you’ll make it to the dash and if you make the dash you know you’ll be starting in the first few rows of the A Main.”

However, the big picture is gaining seat time and soaking up as much of the experience as possible as this week is the first of four straight weekends competing with the World of Outlaws.

“We want to make as many laps as possible and build on each performance night by night,” Scelzi said. “I know I’ll be in great equipment and surrounded by great people. I want to make the most of this opportunity.”
