We are so pleased to announce that Scott Hauser has won both the 2017 Santa Pod Racers Club and National Super Pro Championships in a dramatic final round finish at Santa Pod last weekend.

After a mediocre start to the season, not helped by a couple of 1st round red lights, we found ourselves in 3rd place coming into the European Finals at Santa Pod in early September. However, we excelled ourselves during qualifying, running four 7.63s on the trot, earning us #1 position and we recovered a whole lot of points to keep us in the hunt. We only managed two rounds of eliminations unfortunately, before persistent rain curtailed the event. A frustrating time for everyone.

We entered the National Finals race holding a very slim points lead, which was quickly lost when we couldn’t qualify better than 10th. Our worst position for 4 years. John Przybyl re-took the lead with a +0.001s run, earning him the #1 bonus with Brad Jackson and Joe Kellett in their dragsters both too close for comfort. Our job had just got harder.

Very fortunately for us, Brad broke out in his 1st round race, ending his championship hopes for another year. Scott, John and Joe all won the first two rounds.

Scott met up with Joe in the 3rd round and beat him with a holeshot. The semi-finals saw Scott against points leader John. We had to win this race and also the final to prevent John from taking the trophy. Under pressure, John red-lit and gave us the win, but we still had to do more.

We were up against Daniel Giles, another tough competitor and previous winner. Again Scott got the better light and took the win, even forcing Daniel to break out trying to catch him. The Championships were ours! What a dramatic end to the year, the championship going right down to the last run of the season.

It’s been a tough year, with 4 races cut short due to rain. The 32 car fields are amazingly tight and everyone is capable of winning races. Having a consistent, reliable car is essential and the parts we use are all equally important in achieving our goals.
