GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (August 15, 2017) – 818 by any standards is a monumental number. For Allen Johnson, that is the amount of times he has staged his car on raceday during eliminations in his 21-year Pro Stock career. As the Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart team heads to 36th annual NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn. this weekend, he finds himself in the No. 10 spot with a target on his back with two races left before the drivers in the Countdown to the Championship are decided. With some recent momentum on his side, Johnson is ready to go rounds at Brainerd International Raceway.

“Being No. 10 in the points with two races left before the Countdown, I definitely think there’s a target on our backs,” Johnson said. “There are a few racers not in right now that want to be in just as bad as I do so we just gotta do our best out there and it’ll all fall the way it’s supposed to.”

“I think that round win over Greg [Anderson] in Seattle gave us some momentum,” he added. “I think we’re close to finding another hundredth or two on the car so I think we can go to Brainerd and really be in the mix with the top dogs.”
