ONE GOAL FOR TEAM SUMMIT RACING IN LAS VEGAS: WIN

MOORESVILLE, NC (October 26, 2016) – Team Summit Racing drivers Jason Line and Greg Anderson are the top two contenders for the 2016 NHRA Pro Stock Championship. They are counting on their team’s skill and a good dose of lady luck to help bring home a win for one of them at the NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas this weekend.

“We’re hoping Jason and I put both cars in the final round and mathematically eliminate the other cars from competition,” said Anderson. “That way when we get to Pomona the two of us can duke it out and have fun. It’s very important that we close the season in the first and second spots. Easier said than done, but that’s been our goal since day one.”

When Team Summit Racing was in Las Vegas this past spring, both drivers took home trophies—Anderson in the K&N Horsepower Challenge and Line with the event win.

“We worked all season to reach our goal of winning the Championship. We’ve won a lot of races this year and had a great season,” Line said. “When you’ve had a year like this you don’t want to drop the ball and have somebody pass you right at the finish line. I won both the Charlotte races and now it would be nice to win both Vegas races.”

Another reason why it’s important for the pair to win in Las Vegas: it’s the home track for KB Racing team owner Ken Black.

“There’s always extra pressure, extra incentive to win in Las Vegas,” Anderson explained. “I’ve told the story a hundred times. When we started this race team, Ken told us “I want you to do good and have fun, but I don’t really care past Las Vegas. You just need to do good at Las Vegas and I’ll be happy.” It’s very important to him that we do well in front of his friends and his family.”

Nitro Funny Car driver Tim Wilkerson is looking at the last two races of 2016 as a chance to improve his season record. The points race is very tight for the bottom half of Countdown contenders; less than 100 points separates ninth place Wilkerson from fifth place driver and defending Funny Car Champion Del Worsham.

“Some may say it’s only two races, but that is a lot of rounds and points up for grabs,” Wilkerson said. “A win in Vegas would give us a huge boost in the Countdown. Our goal is to get another win and make it into the Top 5 before the season is over.”
