Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Returns in 2016 to Historic Single Race Format

Lernerville Speedway adds World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Commonwealth Clash to 2016 schedule

SARVER, Pa. – July 12, 2016 – The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2016 with a return to its historic single-feature format.

The Silver Cup, one of the marquee events on the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series schedule, takes on the high-banked, 4/10 mile oval in Western Pennsylvania on Tuesday, July 19. The event, which since 2009 had twin features, will return to a single, 40-lap, $25,000-to-win feature.

“We are excited to celebrate the 25th year of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup and continue to build the great legacy of this great event,” said Lernerville Speedway General Manager Gary Risch Jr. “Annually, the Silver Cup is one of the most competitive events on the World of Outlaws schedule with eight different winners in the last 10 features. We look forward to seeing the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ back in action at Lernerville.”

The World of Outlaws will make a second trip to Lernerville Speedway in 2016 on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Commonwealth Clash was last on the series schedule in 2014. Joey Saldana led a dominating performance of the event that night.

“In the 36 years since the founding of the World of Outlaws, a lot has changed. What hasn’t changed since the beginning is our great relationship with Lernerville Speedway,” said World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Director Carlton Reimers. “The Silver Cup and Commonwealth Clash promise another year of exciting racing and can’t miss finishes.”
