Sixth-Place Finish for Timothy Peters at Texas Motor Speedway

Timothy Peters recorded a solid sixth-place in the WinStar World Casino and Resort 350 at Texas Motor Speedway. Peters and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Tundra recorded the fifth-fastest time in the first practice session on Thursday afternoon and the eighth-fastest lap in final practice. In two rounds of knockout, single-truck qualifying on Friday afternoon, the veteran driver secured the sixth starting position. The green flag dropped for 147 laps around the 1.5-mile speedway Friday evening and Peters fell back to eighth. On lap 45, crew chief Marcus Richmond brought Peters to pit road for four tires and fuel under green-flag conditions. As pit stops cycled through, the Danville, Virginia native reported that his Tundra was too free to start a run, but after about five laps, the handling would improve and Peters worked his way as high as fifth. During the race’s single caution period on lap 53, Peters stayed out on track, but came to pit road for another set of four Goodyear tires and Sunoco fuel during another round of green-flag pit stops. In the fastest race on record in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Texas Motor Speedway, Peters finished in sixth place.

Timothy Peters Quote:
“Our Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra was good tonight. It was a little free on the beginning of a run, but it came to us really good on the long run. Marcus (Richmond, crew chief) and the crew did a great job at making adjustments and giving me a fast truck. We’re looking forward to carrying the momentum to Phoenix (International Raceway).”

Ben Kennedy and the Local Motors Team Earn Top-10 Finish in the Lone Star State

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series traveled to Fort Worth, Texas this weekend for a NASCAR triple-header. Ben Kennedy and the Local Motors team turned in the 15th-fastest time during the first of two practice sessions on Thursday afternoon, and the third-fastest in final practice. Returning the following afternoon for knockout qualifying with single truck runs, the Daytona Beach, Florida native advanced to the final round to earn the ninth starting position for the WinStar World Casino and Resort 350. After taking the green flag under the lights of the 1.5-mile speedway, Kennedy found his hands full with a loose-handling Toyota Tundra and slipped back to the 14th position. While under green-flag conditions, crew chief Scott Zipadelli called Kennedy to pit road for service on laps 44 and 96. On both occasions the Local Motors pit crew quickly changed four tires and packed the machine with fuel. The sole yellow flag was displayed on lap 53 for debris. An air pressure adjustment during the first pit stop and the cooling track temperatures aided the balance of the No. 11 Local Motors Tundra, and Kennedy regained positions to finish ninth, his best finish to date at Texas Motor Speedway.

Ben Kennedy Quote:
“We had a fast Toyota Tundra this weekend. It was handling better at the end of the race, but we just started out a little too loose and the long green-flag runs made regaining more positions at the end little tough. I’m looking forward to next weekend at Phoenix (International Raceway). It’ll be a busy one racing both the K&N (Series West) car and the Local Motors Tundra.”
