Line looks forward to even better conditions after good start in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev., October 30, 2015 – Jason Line and the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro are off to a good start at the 15th annual NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Line, a five-time Las Vegas pole sitter, is No. 4 after his first two runs down the racetrack in Las Vegas.

The second-to-last race in the 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship was off and running under sunny skies and with breezy conditions typical to the Nevada desert. Line powered his Summit Racing Camaro to a 6.603-second pass at 208.46 mph that sent him to the No. 4 position.

As conditions improved for the later session, Line was able to make a quicker and faster pass. He sailed smoothly down the racetrack to a 6.600 at 209.07 that was third-quickest of the session and good for a bonus point. He will remain No. 4 for now with two more qualifying sessions scheduled for Saturday before the field is set.

“Anytime you come to one of Bruton Smith’s racetracks, you expect it to be good,” said Line, who was No. 7 in the Pro Stock points entering the event. “The racetrack didn’t let us down today. We didn’t adapt to it as well as we should have, but the racing surface was really good.

“We should have run faster that last run, we just didn’t. But we kind of felt like today’s runs were almost throwaway runs because the conditions will be better tomorrow. The air will be better, and the track is great – so there is definitely room for improvement.”
