Line making headway on day one of NHRA FallNationals

DALLAS, Texas, October 16, 2015 – The first day of qualifying for the 30th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals concluded with Summit Racing driver Jason Line enthused and ready to embrace two more qualifying runs before the field is set at Texas Motorplex. The race in Ennis, just outside of Dallas, marks the fourth of six in NHRA’s 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship, and Line is looking for his first playoffs victory at a racetrack where he has twice before been victorious.

The first pass down the racetrack for Line and the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro turned the final timer to a 6.568 at 210.64 that was only good for the No. 10 spot.

“Yeah, that was not a good run at all, but thankfully, the second pass was much better.”

The later session on Friday took place well into the evening, and Line raced down the quarter-mile dragstrip to a 6.505 at 212.86 that moved him all the way up to the No. 5 spot and momentarily held the Texas Motorplex track record.

“That was good for us, and we definitely think there is more left,” said Line. “We were just way off on the tune-up in the first session. But it will be faster tomorrow, for sure, and that’s an opportunity for the KB Racing team and our Summit Racing Chevy Camaros. I like that NHRA chose to move this race to a little bit later on the schedule, because these conditions are very good for us. Tomorrow should absolutely be a good day.”
