Line’s Summit Racing Camaro powerful on raceday at Maple Grove

READING, Pa., October 4, 2015 – One thing is for certain, Jason Line has a very fast hot rod. On Sunday at the 31st annual NHRA Keystone Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, Line drove the point home with a very powerful pass that was low elapsed time of the first round and ended up being second-quickest for the event behind only Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson.

The KB Racing power produced in their Mooresville, N.C., shop will continue to be honed as the team prepares for the final three races in the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.

Line qualified the blue Summit Racing Camaro in the No. 5 position with just one qualifying run allotted due to persistent wet weather. The Minnesota-born racer drew Vincent Nobile as a first-round opponent. In their head-to-head meeting, Line was out of the gate in a quick .022-second and powered ahead for a decisive 6.477-second, 213.91 mph win over a tire-rattling Nobile. It was the 800th round of Pro Stock racing for Line in the 281st race of his career.

“That was a nice start for Team Summit and the KB Racing team,” said Line. “We did well that round, but we still knew we had a little ways to go.”

Moving ahead to the second round, Line found himself face-to-face with teammate Anderson, assuring a Summit Racing Chevrolet would be in the semifinals but also assuring that one of their cars would be sent back to the trailer. Anderson was off the line first and never looked back while Line ran into trouble and had to push in the clutch. The final numbers on the scoreboards: 6.488, 213.98 to 6.967, 156.48.

“All of the KB Racing cars show that we have the equipment to win,” said Line, who is No. 8 in the Pro Stock points. “We haven’t been getting it done lately, but we know we can. We have the right tools, we just have to use them effectively in order to get to where we want to be.”
