Roush Yates Engines Powers FORD Performance to GTS Manufacturers Championship in Pirelli World Challenge Series

Mooresville, NC. September 22, 2015 – Roush Yates Engines powered FORD Performance to the GTS Manufacturers Championship and Phoenix American Motorsports to the GTS Team Championship in the Pirelli World Challenge series. Preston Calvert won the GTS Rookie of the Year honors in his FORD Mustang Boss 302, while FORD Performance drivers captured three of the top five positions in the GTS Driver Championships.

FORD captured the Manufacturers Championship by 19 points while attaining four wins on the season with Dean Martin (round 3), Spencer Pumpelly (round 4), Kurt Rezzetano (round 7), and Andrew Aquilante (round 10). FORD drivers earned an incredible 18 podium finishes along with 34 top five’s on the season. This included two podium sweeps in rounds 3 and 4 at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

“To come into the Pirelli World Challenge in our first season and finish second in the points standings, I can’t be too disappointed”, said Aquilante, “Our crew did a phenomenal job this year with one victory and to help win the manufacturers championship for FORD is a great feeling too. The camaraderie between the FORD teams is great in this series.”

In Phoenix American Motorsports’ first year of competition in the Pirelli World Challenge series, they earned the GTS Team Championship with drivers Andrew Aquilante, Preson Calvert and Kurt Rezzetano. The first year team won two races at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and Road America along with 11 podiums and 20 top five finishes.

Rehagen Racing finished fifth in the GTS Team Championship with drivers Dean Martin, Nathan Stacy, and Dan Martinson. The team successfully achieved four podium appearances and nine top five finishes, while Martin swept round 3 at St. Petersburg by winning the pole and the race.

FORD drivers clinched three of the top five positions in the GTS Driver Championship. Aquilante had a strong second place finish in points with Phoenix American Motorsports, while earning eight podiums and 13 top fives. Martin with Rehagen Racing finished fourth in driver points while Phoenix American driver Rezzetano finished fifth.

Pirelli World Challenge released their 2016 race schedule with 11 racing weekends from March to October. The series will start off 2016 at Circuit of the Americas and finish at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Six of the race weekends will run in association with the Verizon Indycar Series.
