Ven Racing Update

After testing both bikes on Thursday we still had launching
issues with Jemmas but were happier with Steves now we had a
good base setting.
Saturday saw qualifying kick off with Steve at no1 qualifier
with a 7.18 @ 205mph, his run against Gary Bowe was the
first side by side run in the teens. Jemma struggled to
launch her bike and sat at no12 with an 8.3. Qualifier 2
and Jemma was pulled straight through the lights due to a
clutch issue so no time came up, Steve didn’t better his
previous time and dropped to no2 but backed up his previous
time to set a new European record.

Sunday saw two more qualifiers and after some fantastic
racing from numerous riders saw Steve at no3 with a 7.18 and
Jemma at no10 with a 7.62, but after finally getting some
clean data to work from was a lot more comfortable with the
bike and pulled a 1.21 60foot, which was the quickest 60ft
in the class over the whole weekend.
First round of eliminations on Monday and Jemma was paired
against Mogens who had consistently ran 7.4s all meeting,
after a great launch and riding a wheelie mid track saw
Jemma take the win with a 7.30 @ 199.9 smashing her personal
best. Steve had a solo run. 2nd round saw Jemma knocked
out but still ran a very respectful 7.32, Steve took his win
with a 7.16. The semis saw Steve take the win with a
holeshot winning with a 7.18 to a 7.16. Steve was against
Rick Stubbins in the final and after running perfect .0
lights all weekend tried a little too hard and gave Rick the
win by pulling a red light.
All in all it was a fantastic weekend and we finally feel we
are getting somewhere close with both bikes. With the
Summer Nationals this weekend coming Jemmas bike has been
serviced but left the same, Steves bike has had the new
motor built by DME put in and a new front tyre to help with
handling problems and some minor changes made. We should
both be testing on Friday as long as the weather allows us
to.
