DETROIT (June 23, 2015) – Following a nearly two-month break in the schedule, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R teams return to racing this weekend at Watkins Glen International in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. The Continental Tire 150 at The Glen is the fourth round of the 2015 championship, which has seen Chevrolet rack up two Grand Sport (GS) class wins in three races.

Four Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.Rs from two teams are entered for Saturday’s two-hour, 30-minute race – Stevenson Motorsports and Mantella Autosport. The two-car Stevenson Motorsports team has five combined podium finishes between them including back-to-back victories for GS championship leaders Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis in the No. 6 Camaro Z/28.R.

“It has been a great start for the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R in its second season with a pair of wins in three races,” said Jim Lutz, Chevrolet Program Manager for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. “After nearly two months with no racing, we are back to business at Watkins Glen with four Camaro Z/28.Rs. Repeating last year’s win will be a challenge for our Camaro Z/28.R teams with the impact of rules adjustments recently applied. But we have exceptional partner teams that will optimize the engineering and strategy support from Chevrolet. We will all give it our best.”

In addition to heading the driver standings, Liddell and Davis won at Watkins Glen in 2014 in a close battle that saw Liddell take the checkered flag by 0.169 seconds. It was the first victory for the Camaro brand at Watkins Glen in Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competition; Stevenson Motorsports finished second with a Camaro GS.R in 2011 and 2012.

Matt Bell and Lawson Aschenbach in the No. 9 Stevenson Camaro are third in the GS standings with a runner-up and third-place finish this season. Bell also has two consecutive pole positions, and a Camaro Z/28.R sat on pole at Watkins Glen last year (Eric Curran).

Mantella Autosport also will field a pair of Camaro Z/28.Rs. Kyle Marcelli and Martin Barkey are together again in the No. 80 MBRP Camaro Z/28.R. In the No. 8 Gulf Camaro, Anthony Mantella teams with newcomer Sasha Anis; Mantella is seventh in the GS standings.
