TEAM CHEVY DRIVER NOTES & QUOTES
MAY 15, 2015

DANICA PATRICK, NO. 10 MOBIL 1/ASPEN DENTAL CHEVROLET SS – Joins Sprint All-Star Race line-up via Fan Vote:

“I have great fans. I know I didn’t make it in last year, but I heard that they voted even more last year than the year before that and so I’m sure that this year was nothing different. I think I got close at the end and they came through. They always come through. I am lucky to have such great fans.

“I just really hope that we can learn enough tonight to make the car better tomorrow so that we can start throughout the segments because I think there are like five, right? Sometimes we might stay out. Maybe we’ll only take two (tires). Maybe only fuel. It would be cool to be able to have a car good enough to march our way forward and then ultimately see how good we can get it for the 600. But, thanks to Sprint, too, for giving this platform for a driver like myself who has great fans but didn’t win the race to get in. That’s my ultimate goal. We’re working toward it but these things all help. All the laps on track help.”

HOW GREAT WOULD IT BE TO WIN AFTER BEING VOTED-IN BY YOUR FANS?
“That would be the ultimate. There is nothing better than redeeming yourself for not racing your way in, by winning it. That would be the best-best case scenario. To be honest, even cooler to get voted in and then win. So, that would be great. I think it’s going to be tough. But, anything can happen; especially in this crazy format.”

MARTIN TRUEX, JR., NO. 78 FURNITURE ROW/VISSER PRECISION CHEVROLET SS met with media and discussed the team’s success this far this year, what it would mean to make be in the All-Star Race, his new crew chief, and more. Full Transcript:

YOU ARE IN THE TOP FIVE IN THE FAN VOTE FOR THE SPRINT ALL-STAR. YOU’VE ALSO WON THE SHOWDOWN TWICE. WHAT’S YOUR STRATEGY IN MAKING THE ALL-STAR EVENT IF YOU DON’T WIN THE FAN VOTE?
“If you win either of the first two segments, you’re in. Our plan is to hopefully win the first 20. We’ll have to see how qualifying goes first and go from there, but I think that’s a little bit different. Usually that first pit stop, the four-tire strategy was important, and we’ve been on both sides of that. It takes that out of play a little bit.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Charlotte Sprint Showdown- Martin Truex Jr. →

WITH A MILLION DOLLARS ON THE LINE, AND STRATEGY ALWAYS PLAYING A BIG ROLE IN THE ALL-STAR RACE, DO YOU HAVE A GAME PLAN FOR TOMORROW NIGHT?
KAHNE: “Yeah, I think there definitely is. I think you have to qualify pretty well, first and you want to try to start as close to the front as you can to get as many points throughout those rounds as possible. But I think also where you’re running on the track kind helps you decide your strategy. And that’s what Keith and our engineers will do throughout the race. They’ll figure that out. My job is to just go as hard as you can every lap and pass the car in front of you.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Charlotte Sprint Showdown–Kasey Kahne →
