Four-Time Topeka Winner Anderson Returns For More

Mooresville, N.C., May 20, 2015 – Greg Anderson is right on track with his Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, and this weekend at the 27th annual NHRA Kansas Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka, the Mooresville, N.C.-based driver will be looking to turn on the last win light on Sunday at a facility where he has accomplished just that on four occasions.

Fresh off of his final-round finish at last weekend’s Summit Racing Southern Nationals in Atlanta, Anderson’s red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is hot. He was the quickest car on Sunday and set low elapsed time of eliminations in three of the four rounds. Currently No. 3 in NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock standings, the four-time world champ is excited to get to each and every race.

“I’ve won in Topeka before, and we have had a good time there in the past,” said Anderson. “I believe that we can have a real good time there this weekend if everything falls into place as it should. I’ve been racing there at Heartland Park for a long time, and it’s one of those mid-west tracks that is similar to the racetracks where I grew up. I think the Summit Racing team runs well there, and we’re looking forward to this weekend. When you have racecars like we had with our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros last weekend in Atlanta, you don’t want to take a week off – you want to go race tomorrow. These are good, happy times, and we’re having a lot of fun.”

In addition to racing for event titles, the KB Racing team is always chomping at the bit for one of the most esteemed awards of the weekend: No. 1 qualifier. Anderson is a 75-time No. 1 qualifier in the Pro Stock category, but it has been quite a while since the honor was bestowed upon him. The last time he was quickest in qualifying at the end of all four sessions was at the Seattle race in 2010. This year, he has proven time and again that not only is he armed with quick reaction times behind the wheel, but he is also driving one of the most capable racecars.

“I think I’m knocking on the door of having a car that can get that done,” said Anderson, who has three Topeka No. 1s and holds the track record for speed with a 211.30 mph pass set in 2012. “It’s been a long time, and it’s exciting to have a car capable of being No. 1. I know it’s coming, and I know more wins are coming, too. I think the future of our Summit Racing team looks as bright as can be, and I couldn’t be more proud of our race team. This just goes to show you the kind of team I have. They don’t quit.”
