Summit Racing–Points Leader Line and Team Summit up to the task at Heartland Park Topeka

Points Leader Line and Team Summit up to the task at Heartland Park Topeka

Mooresville, N.C., May 20, 2015 – The 2015 season of NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series is launching into the busiest time of the year this weekend at the NHRA Kansas Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka. The upcoming event marks the second half of the first back-to-back races of the year, and Jason Line and the Summit Racing Pro Stock team are good and ready following a big win for KB Racing and Team Summit in Atlanta last week.

With two wins in three final rounds, the driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro has an excellent scorecard, but it isn’t just luck on raceday that has brought in points. In qualifying, Line has been outstanding. Of the seven events in the books so far this year, Line has been second or better in qualifying at all but one. He rides into Topeka with three consecutive low qualifier awards in hand and looking for a fourth. The Mooresville, N.C.-based driver, however, is looking at the bigger picture.

“I said it last weekend but I’ll say it again – I think what I’m most excited about is how Greg’s car is coming around. With as good as he’s driving, he’s going to hurt a lot of people,” said Line. Summit Racing teammate Anderson reached his third final of the season last weekend in Atlanta with the best car in the field on raceday, clocking low elapsed time in each of the first three rounds.

“We’re definitely getting to where we want to be with our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros, and even though sometimes it feels like one step forward and two steps back, we’re going in the right direction,” Line continued. “The KB Racing goal is to keep going in the right direction this weekend in Topeka.”

Surprisingly, Line will be looking for his first Heartland Park win. He has scored the Pro Stock title at all but five venues on the NHRA tour, and Topeka is only one of two racetracks on the current schedule where he has not seen the inside of a final round.

The odds are certainly in his favor, though, as Line enters the NHRA Kansas Nationals as the points leader after his Atlanta win in the 24th all-Summit Racing final in the history of the team. Despite his current success so far this year, he is still reluctant to claim that the team has reached full potential and shies away from talk of dominating the class.

“I don’t know if I would say we have momentum, but I know that it felt awful good to win last weekend at the Summit Racing Southern Nationals, and we’ll be doing everything in our power to repeat at Heartland Park,” said Line. “You have to be good all the time in this sport. What you did yesterday doesn’t really matter a whole heck of a lot; it’s what you do tomorrow that counts. We work hard all year, and we go at it every single day. So I’m looking forward to Topeka. We’ll have our work cut out for us, but Team Summit is up for the task.”
