Greg Hodnett Dominates in DIRTcar Nationals Sprint Week Win
Hodnett takes UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions victory over Danny Lasoski
BARBERVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 11, 2015 – It was a win for the Pennsylvania Posse Wednesday night at Volusia Speedway Park as Greg Hodnett dominated the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions feature on night two of DIRTcar Nationals sprint week.

Hodnett won the Dash earlier in the night, denying quick qualifier Danny Lasoski the feature pole. Through early cautions in the A main, Hodnett held off challenges from Paul McMahan and battled his way through lapped traffic. As McMahan stumbled late in the race, Hodnett pulled away, Brad Sweet advanced into the third position and Lasoski sought to close the gap with Hodnett.

Ultimately though it was Hodnett who scored the first sprint week win of DIRTcar Nationals, leading his nearest competition at the finish line by half a straightaway.

“Fortunately, my guys gave me a great racecar to take advantage of a front row starting spot,” Hodnett said. “It doesn’t happen very often so we’ll try to do everything we can to take advantage of it and it worked out for us.”

Despite the ease with which it appeared Hodnett took the victory, he said it was a challenge throughout the feature.

“I was hand over hand a couple of times in traffic,” he said. “It was a little bit of a handful up on the cushion trying to slide guys and do everything. Fortunately for us, it worked out and I got one of these beautiful gator trophies.”

Lasoski ended up finishing in second as he begins a full campaign for a new car owner.

“Well, we were one short of where we wanted to be,” the Big Game Motorsports driver said. “Again, I want to thank Tod Quiring for giving us a shot at this racecar. The cars really were good… Just really excited to be driving this thing. We come out, we’ve got the speed – we just got beat on both starts. I spun the wheels on the start and that’s where we ended up.”
