GRAND-AM ROAD RACING
CONTINENTAL TIRE 200 – ROLEX SPORTS CAR SERIES
WATKINS GLEN INTERNATIONAL
WATKINS GLEN, NEW YORK
August 10-11, 2012

INSIDE THE GRAND-AM GARAGE – JIM LUTZ, CHEVROLET RACING PROGRAM MANAGER –  GRAND-AM ROAD RACING:  “Heading to Watkins Glen International this weekend, the Chevrolet teams are looking forward to continuing the success they enjoyed when GRAND-AM was there for the six-hour endurance race in June.  We enjoyed wins in both Rolex Sports Car Series classes with the No. 9 Action Express Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype and the No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GT.R.

“With four races remaining in the season, every finishing position and every point is critical.  Chevrolet currently leads the manufacturers’ standings in Daytona Prototype with six victories so far this season.   There is a tight battle in GT as well. Currently Chevy is second in the standings, but another victory would go a long way to closing the gap to the leader.

“This race is shorter, just two hours, which puts tremendous pressure on the teams to hit the setup as perfectly as possible at the start of the race, and execute perfectly throughout the race to give their drivers the best opportunity for the win.   We are excited about our chances, and are looking forward to the weekend.”
