INSIDE THE GRAND-AM GARAGE – JIM LUTZ, CHEVROLET RACING GRAND-AM ROAD RACING PROGRAM MANAGER:  “Being a part of the Super Weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a historic event for the Chevrolet Corvette DP and Camaro teams in GRAND-AM Road Racing.  Following the recent two-day Indy Brickyard F-1 course test, our teams came away with valuable information that has them very prepared for the one-day event on Friday.

“Also this race marks the final round of the North American Endurance Championship (NAEC) in the Rolex Sports Car Series.  The unique three-race championship contest within the year-long championship has added another exciting element for our Chevrolet teams.  The NAEC encompasses Rolex 24 At Daytona, Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen and Super Weekend at the Brickyard.  The No. 9 Action Express Racing Corvette DP leads the Daytona Prototype NAEC standings by two points, while the Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GT.R is leading the Rolex Series GT NAEC standings by five points.

“With Chevrolet leading the Manufacturers’ Standings in Daytona Prototype, and in contention in GT as well, currently sitting second, we need to keep the pressure on this weekend with strong performances in both classes.  And, we are looking forward to see the continued upward movement in the standings for our Camaro GS.R teams in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

“It will be a challenging event with everything for both series compacted into one day, but we are up for the challenge and ready to go at the famous track.”
