Past, Present & Future
2008 – 5 High School Teams with 35 Students competing at the first Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge at the Race and Performance Expo in St. Charles, IL.
2009 – 36 Teams with 216 Students competing at a total of 3 events:
Race & Performance Expo in Illinois, Edelbrock’s Rev’ved up 4 Kids Charity Car Show in California and at Motorstate Distributing’s Lane Car Show in Michigan. Ohio Technical College (OTC) and University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) offer $250,000.00 in scholarships to all the competitors at the “Showdown at SEMA”.
2010 – 51 Teams with 357 students competing at a total of 5 events:
Race & Performance Expo in Illinois, Edelbrock’s Rev’ved up 4 Kids Charity Car Show in California, at Motorstate Distributing’s Lane Car Show in Michigan, at P&E Distributor in Tennessee and in the heart of Texas at Painless Performance’s open house. OTC, UNOH, and School of Automotive Machinists (SAM) offer $606,000.00 in scholarships to all the competitors at the 2nd Annual “Showdown at SEMA”.
2011 – 70 Teams with 490 students competing at a total of 6 events:
Race & Performance Expo in Illinois, Edelbrock’s Rev’ved up 4 Kids Charity Car Show in California, at Motorstate Distributing’s Lane Car Show in Michigan, at P&E Distributor’s in Tennessee, Painless Performance’s open house in Texas and at Carlisle All GM Nationals show in Pennsylvania. SAM and OTC offer over $1,060,000.00 in scholarships to ALL competitors across all 6 events. And with the addition of UNHO, OTC and SAM gave the “Showdown at SEMA” Competitors a total of 1.17 Million dollars in scholarship money.
2012 – 115 Teams are scheduled to compete with 805 students at a total of 8 events:
Race & Performance Expo in Illinois, Skills Georgia and the Georgia Open in Georgia, P&E Distributor’s in Tennessee, Painless Performance’s open house in Texas, at Spring Carlisle in Pennsylvania, Edelbrock’s Rev’ved up 4 Kids Charity Car Show in California and at Motorstate Distributing’s Lane Car Show in Michigan. For the 2012 8 events and “Showdown at SEMA”, OTC, UNHO and SAM’s will be awarding a total over 2.5 Million dollars in scholarship money to the students that are participating in the Hot Rodders of tomorrow program.
2013 – We are looking at adding another two events to the schedule and hopefully a total of 150 teams with 1050 students. Also we will be outfitting another Hot Rodders of Tomorrow truck and trailer to help develop and service the west coast event locations.
