Giovanni Scelzi Caps Great Weekend With Podium Finish at Stockton Dirt Track

Inside Line Promotions – STOCKTON, Calif. (April 17, 2018) – Giovanni Scelzi scored his first top-five result of the season last Friday before topping that by earning his first podium finish of the year on Saturday.

The weekend began for Scelzi and his family owned, Roth Motorsports supported No. 41 team on Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., during a Taco Bravo Sprints show. Scelzi qualified third quickest, finished third in a heat race and ended third in the dash to line up on the inside of the second row for the A Main.

“The track was rough around the bottom and then the top blew off,” he said. “I was one of the first guys to find the top. I was up to fourth when I smoked a hole and almost turned it over. Giovanni Scelzi Nets Top-10 Result During KWS-NARC Season Opener

Inside Line Promotions – BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (April 10, 2018) – Giovanni Scelzi garnered his first top-10 finish of the season on Sunday at The Dirt Track at Kern County Raceway Park.

Scelzi and his family owned, Roth Motorsports backed No. 41 began the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series season-opening event by qualifying eighth quickest. He then won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row to earn enough points to make the dash.

“We didn’t time in very good so I knew I had to win the heat to make it into the dash,” he said. “We were good in the heat and it paid off.”

Scelzi then placed sixth in the dash to start the A Main on the outside of the third row.

“They ripped the track up before the feature and it was one lane around the bottom,” he said. “We thought it’d go away and it never did. I tried to make something happen on the top and it just wasn’t there. In the first 10 laps I tried three or four times up there, but every time I tried a lane up I lost ground or fell back.”

Scelzi closed the night with an eighth-place result.

“I feel like I’m racing better every night,” he said. “Hopefully the results will start reflecting that soon.”

Scelzi will pilot his family car this Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., with the Taco Bravo Sprints and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., for the 3rd annual Jimmy Sills Classic with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“Every time you can move forward and run inside the top 10 with the World of Outlaws it’s an accomplishment,” he said. “When we timed in I think I made five or six qualifying laps. The red light was put on on accident. We got going again and then a push truck came out. I didn’t get a regular qualifying session, which I think hurt us. Dominic Scelzi Starts Season With Strong Qualifying Results in Las Vegas
